EDIT: Furthermore (and this is the most important part) this is roughly how I'd like the last part of Shepard's mission to go (cut from a post I made earlier):
"I really hope Shepard has to do a lone and emotionally harrowing mission in the end and does something special - the kind of special that makes Jack Wall want to write a 9 minute epic like Clint Mansell's final piece in The Fountain, and leaves an entire galaxy slumped in awe, love, and perharps even sorrow of the greatest hero the galaxy has ever had in its entire history*.
Extra: I'd love it if somewhere in the middle of the game, we have a mission similar to Virmire, where one of shepard's companions chooses to stay behind to save everyone else (I could imagine Jack in this) and gets their own scene like Asuka's final fight in Evangelion (watch from 3:50 onwards). It's a very moving scene that initially inspires pride in the human will (in a way, Asuka is one of humanity's greatest champions) - but in the end, Asuka's victory is overuled by the inevitablity of armageddon, and you're just left with the hopeless feeling that the coming events are unstoppable. Imagine one of our strongest companions in a similar fight, symbolically representing galactic civilisation the same way Asuka represented humanity, with the same heart-breaking result - I think that could be a really effective way of bringing home the gravity of the situation on a personal level.
*including every single cycle that's ever occured."
ANYWAY, how are YOU guys hoping we'll beat the Reapers?
-A straight forward Reaper boss fight?
-Send Jeff Goldblum to kill the Reapers' mothership out in darkspace? (Do we even want them to have a mothership?)
-A straight forward but massive space battle with all the galaxy's fleets?
-A Neo/Smith ending where Shepard sacrifices his/herself and melds with a Reaper's genetic material and destroys them from the inside out, or takes control of the entire Reaper fleet?
-Something emotionally and philosophically powerful?
-Some or all of the above?
