How are you hoping we'll beat the Reapers? A straight forward battle or something more profound?

Beat the Reapers the same way Russia fought off the ****s massive waves of Rachni and Krogan.

Edit: Apparently the word for Germany's main political party from 1933 to 1945 is censored.

I'm hoping that dark energy will be involved in someway.

You know the stuff that can cause the expansion of a universe and tear apart matter to the quark or atleast thats what we think it is capable in RL yet alone what science fiction can make up for the sake of a storys plot. Perhaps a device that came before even the reapers in a grand revelation that can trap reaper(s) in a singularity of some sort. A mass effect field that can bypass  though reaper armor and shields with ease or something to that effect.

Except not. Dark energy is some theoretical form of undetectable material or energy used to explain the big gaps in gravity while studying galaxies. AFAIK the force behind the universe's expansion according to the most accepted big bang theory (inflation) is the false vacuum and the higs particle thingie.

I have a million theories on how we could beat the reapers...it all depends on information about the reapers that we simply don't know yet.

My biggest theory still holds: everything that makes the reapers so powerful is in the shields. look at how quickly sovreign went down without them. find a way past the shields and the reapers are toast.

I'm from Russia, a country that has stood in those terrible years. My country has fallen the most terrible blow, but the people stood to the death, fought with all his might. My country has paid a heavy price for victory.

In those years, the German army was considered invincible, was better armed, was more effective.

But by some miracle, we won, it's really a miracle, something incredible. But it was. Russian people fought for their country, they knew that if they do not will stand, then all will die, children's, females and the elderly. Hitler's army do not spared anyone.

Victory day in my country is one of the most important national holidays. And in my country, we have remember the heroism of those heroes, thanks to which I now live.

And perhaps, this is the correct historical comparison, union of allies before a common enemy, the incredible heroism of people and their will to win and a miracle.

Words from the anthem of Russia.
Нам силу дает наша верность Отчизне.
Так было, так есть и так будет всегда!

I want this as my paragon ending. Don't hate let a man dream : D

After all the roundin up an army and proceeding through the story line Shepard goes to the area where the Illusive man resides and solos through the station where after a heated conversation a mono e mono fight begins. Afterward Shepard retrieves from the Cerberus database a weak point against the reapers.

Shepard returns to the Normandy and proceeds to the battered earth after making the decision to wait to save earth and assist the other races against the other reapers attacking their home systems. The Normandy alone exits the mass relay seeing the massive Reaper fleet in orbit above earth. As heart of courage begins to play somehow avoiding copyright claims the alliance fleet warps in behind Shepard. Right after them the Turians,Salarians, and Asari fleets rally behind them.

And right behind them are the other council races coming to the aide of the humans to return the favor of their "sacrifices" during the first game. As Shepard is about to commence the assault the quarians and geth fleet arrive on scene now at peace and allies they join the massive fleet. Shepard gives an inspirational speech and the attack begins.

The battle is costly and it seems that the organics might not have a chance to stop the reapers. More reapers move to join the fray but are intercepted by a sudden wave of Krogan battleships lead by Mr. Wrex himself.

And at the final moments it seems the Normandy has taken a few bad hits and it surrounded by reapers. And who better to come to their rescue than the Rachni arriving just in time to save the day and help finish off the reapers.

I want to beat the Reapers like that.

Honestly I can't shake the feeling that Shepard will have some sort of mental connection with the Reapers similar to how Daniel was connected to the Geth (this is under the assumption that Cerberus put some Reaper tech in Shep). Through this connection Shepard will be able to gain some understanding about the Reapers; their history, their motivations, etc. As the game progresses their will be a battle of influences in Shepard's mind (those who've read Retribution will know what I'm talking about)....eventually Shepard will miraculously exert his own influence over the Reapers, which will allow him to use them as he pleases [Insert Renegade/Paragon choice].

That's all I got.

Fortunately, I think it's guaranteed that we'll get a space battle, so I don't think we have to worry about that!  Personally, I'm hoping for something in addition to that :)  I suspect they probably will, since it's a third person action rpg and not a space rts - plus the galaxy's fleets may only be strong enough to bide Shepard time (ala ROTK).

EDIT: snipped and put into OP

You describe is absolutely trivial finals of any battle, all come to the rescue.

And then what do you think this will be enough?

Millions of years Reapers hoarded power, but many simply do not understand this.

You will remember that he also tried to take control of the citadel, and controls the body Saren?
Try wearing body armor and fighting at least with 3 boxers and solve problems in quantum physics at the same time.

Imagine that Cerberus is built the Reapers.
Cerberus has forged a vision protheans beacon on Eden Prime, forged Virgil on Ilos.

And you know why? To humanity gained control over the entire galaxy.

This is the same nonsense like you say. How Cerberus found a weak point against the Reapers? Reaper will dead if we shot him in the heel as Achilles? [Sarcasm]

I do not believe that someone from humans or aliens can defeat the Reapers.

Nobody even prepared for large-scale war.

How are you going to win?
Steal the technology, create a black hole, fire a super gun, say epic speech and Reapers retreat - all this nonsense.

Mortromp wrote ...
Humanity should use the technology captured at the end of ME2 to create our own reapers, thus leveling the playing field.

To build own Reaper, we digested the people in jelly?
If I am destroyed station, then what?

I do not read books about Mass Effect, it's not interesting to me.
Am I obliged to buy the book to understand the game storyline? Why?

Everything will generally be the opposite - the station will play a negative role.

I just want to prove that be prepared to war need in advance.
We will have heavy losses, made great sacrifices. Most likely we will cut off from allies, Reapers will control relays.
When the light of hope extinguished, should happen is something special.

How the Reapers know where Earth is its coordinates? Do you know? They have already seized the citadel and have access to information on all key planets.

I agree with the interpretation @ Bamboozalis, who compared the struggle against the reapers and the second world war in which the United States, Britain and Russia teamed up and won. But Russia has suffered heavy losses early in the war and our people survived by a miracle.

I've posted this twice elsewhere already, but I really should've put it here in the first place (sorry!).

Here's how I'd like that final solo mission to go (see OP):

Important: listen to this - skip to 6:30 - and read:

Shepard is badly beaten, alone and naked in the dark - most of her companions are lost - the Reapers are whispering in her ear - she struggles as hard as any human possibly can to get to the light at the end of the tunnel - everything she's ever prepared for has been for this moment - the whispers are now screams - crawling forward, she desperately clings to the thought of all the people she's fighting for - the machines try relentlessly to crush her mind - she screams in pain - she almost doesn't make it -  then one thought lances through the chaos: a figure standing in the void of her mind.. the figure turns to look at Shepard.. Shepard cries when she realises who it is.. and then the figure smiles at her - the Reapers make one final push - Shepard makes one final push back - she barely reaches the end of the tunnel - she nearly can't take it anymore - through the tears, she smiles, "I love you, Liara..." - she turns the failsafe key.  (wait for 7:35**)

Oh I know... very cliched.  But they could do it right.

**That should've taken a minute to read.

EDIT: Shepard doesn't necessarily die here; plenty of room for a happy or sad epilogue.  Maybe Shepard recovers and is reunited; maybe not  :)

That would be neat, Shep is wounded, fighting to his/her last breathe and slipping fast, then Joker comes in with the Normandy, and WHAM! The enemy gets vaporized.

But I got to wondering, if Shep is Captain Miller (Hanks) , who would Shep tell to "Earn it?"

IMHO, the most likely squadmate(s) is/are Tali and Legion (based on their people's history), otherwise someone new.

or if it is a non squadmate, maybe even TIM or Hackett over a comm...

or just for the LULZ, the Turian Councilor. :P

Seriously though, the ending has to epic and has to top ME and the end of the ME2 Suicide Mission, however it goes in ME3.

Something involving Dark matter and a Renegade interrupt, or Shepard somehow becoming a Reaper and killing all the other reapers, OR something like the ending of gunbuster (just because)

Hope so too.  Pretty sure we'll get that though - Casey Hudson, prior to ME2's release, talked about how in ME3 they can make things diverge as much as they want, since there isn't another game to carry decisions into.

Something involving the citadel? If it is a giant mass relay then could it be reprogrammed to send ships somewhere other than dark space?

Maybe lure the Reapers to the citadel and use it to send them to te other end of the universe. Threat avoided but not ended.

Or for the darker ending have the council races use it as a final escape system. Should the Reapes overwhelm the council fleets and systems then a core group of settlers from each species could be sent through the citadel/relay to another galaxy while the final survivors of the military hold back the reapers for just long enough. Someone would also need to stay on the station to initiate the self destruct of course...

Heh. Hopefully it doesn't come to a stand-up fight. Everything we've been told is that no matter how we prepare, we will lose a stand-up fight. It would cheapen the series, IMO, if the battle is done that way.

I support Para-Shep sacrificing himself to save the galaxy.

I support Rene-Shep sacrificing most of/the enite team to save the galaxy.

Unite the council races, find all the ancient races hiding in gas giants and such across the galaxy and find the reapers creators.

Then take out the old big stick and give them a damn good thrashing, after which we get really evil and sue them for reperations.

I'm betting you will have to stop the Illusive man.I'm willing to bet his greed to establish human dominance he will activate something he can't control and be taken over or transformed into a human reaper. The reapers must have concluded if they destroy earth they can resume their cycle which has been stopped two times in a row by Shepard.

I think it's a race against time a set number of hours/days to rally other alien races and find ancient technology to take on the reapers.Depending on how long it takes you can arrive right before the attack on earth , during or at worst after the battle.(just my thought)

Tbh, I don't really care how it plays out, just as long as we kick their butts. I wouldn't like the idea of having to play out the whole trilogy (or in my case ME2 & ME3, as I don't have a 360, or a PC that can handle games very well), only to lose no matter what.

A 2001 ending. WTF just happened?

Seriously, a big-*ss space battle used as a diversion while Shepard ascends into another state of being equal to that of the Reapers and faces Harbinger alone.

or

As Sovreign did w/ Saren, Harbinger transfers his consciousness into Shepard and then LI kills him/her.
