How are you hoping we'll beat the Reapers? A straight forward battle or something more profound?

"His involvement in Mass Effect 3 gives us good reason to believe we
might be in for the most emotionally devastating game in BioWare's space
opera franchise yet."

Or great minds think alike? :P  In any case, this news has fulfilled a massive chunk of my hopes for this game and I'm now very excited for what's to come!  Thank you Bioware, this was a really great choice!

It'll likely involve Dark Energy. We'll probably lure them near a star and "nuke" it or something, hopefully taking them out with it. Still that would require getting them all to gather up but I figure Dark Energy was left unanswered in ME2 for a reason so....

Ditto. I totally didn't see it coming! :D

Would like it to be a head to head with the reapers, and (sort of like dragon age two) command certain races to attack at different moments. for example, rachni at close range.

Maybe something to do with the sun on Haestrom aging faster than it should. A big space battle with zero gravity area where shepard is doing commando work.

A big zero-gravity section in the midst of a enormous space batte were shepard has to board other ships to help the fleet would be nice.

I remember that Chris Priestly or one of the Producers said in an interview that Shepard will visit Reaper homeworld and meet imprisoned beings of light there. Speculation: Why imprisoned ? They had been created to protect all organic life against evil machines (reapers) but there is no sign of them. That means either they are imprisoned somehwre (speculation: reaper homeworld) or they really doesn't exist

Head on battle of galactic proportions. No Deus ex Machina, no secret weapon.

Finally! I find a fellow Hyperion reader!

I'm not too sure how they will deal with the reapers already there. Massive space battles I imagine. But, like Hyperion, I have a feeling that Reaper technology will/must be destroyed. All of the relays as well as the citadel. I'm certain that they are still connected to the Reapers in someway and if destroyed, it would somehow weaken them.

Something that is not just a straight forward "we united and together can conquer them" plot (although I expect you can unite everyone, it still doesn't seem possible that they could beat the Reapers together). And no deus ex machina. Unfortunately, I think we'll probably end up with some form of the latter.

@BobecheXIII: Destroying all Reaper technology? Do you want to send us back to the stone age? Everything is Reaper tech! Guns, ships (specially the SR-2), cities, everything that is connected to mass effect energy (eezo) is Reaper tech. Why do you think the game is called Mass Effect? Everything is powered by the same thing. I doubt that will happen because we would be undoing everything. Destrying the mass relays alone would be catastrophic. Races cut off forever and let alone tht they are almost indestructible. A super nova only moved a Relay, it did not destroy it, and a nova is the most powerful explosion that can happen.

I hope there will be no Deus Ex Machina when it comes to beating the Reapers. That's all I hope. Oh, and no human engineered computer virus with Will Smith leading the charge.

Just my two cents. Commander Shepard was rebuilt by Cerberus using Reaper tech from Soverign's debre thus making Shepard part Reaper. (In theory) There is no chance that the current galaxy (no matter how united) can defeat a fleet of Reapers. And what can Shep do against a ship? Might as well shoot paper clips at em. My guess...Shepard can manage to merge with a Reaper. If you choose Renegade ending in ME2 you can merge with the human reaper.

There could also be a lone gunman final ending (accompanied by love interest) where shep has to find a way to trap the reapers in dark space forever. If this happens be ready for a Halo 3 type ending.

Yes, it would be catastrophic. Yet, it may be the only way to halt the Reapers. Besides, I was just barrowing the idea from Hyperion. Millions of people were cut off, many were killed or stranded, but it stopped the greater threat. I don't think humanity or any other organic life will come out of this fight without making large sacrifices.

And when I say destroy the Reaper tech, I'm mostly referring to the technology that predates organic life's involvment. Not our guns or ships that we have reverse engineered.

We will see that after the game came out hehe
but im so exidet abaut to see the end of this epic triology.
I will plan this attack on the reaper carefully  if the game will allow to plan anything xd
What is still bothering me is that Hastor sun when you recruit Tali if this has something to do with that dark energy, so we can use it agains the Reaper fleet i dunno.
Good forum theme by the way very interesting tnx.

I hope it's not  a super secret virus that disables the reapers. I'm kind of hoping where we simply outsmart them, lead them into a trap, something like luring the reapers to the Dholen system (the dying star) where Shepard and Admiral Hackett make a last stand with the rest of the remaining organic forces while all civilians evacuate to a safe spot from the reapers.
Their mission is to make a stand long enough and attract enough Reapers into the vicinity of the system so they can cause the Dholen star to supernova via Mass Effect fields decimating a majority of the Reaper forces and Organic armies.

they used reaper tech. not reaper parts. they just used the technology to fix him up hes not 50% reaper or something alike. secondly i dont think the human reaper is going to do anything after me2. its unfinished and demolished by shep. even if you keep the base humanity isnt going to pump any more human goo into that thing.(even if they wanted to they would prolly not understand how to. atleast not after years of study)

I don't think that a straight forward battle would be a good choice.

We use the relays and citadel because the reapers want to live. Organic life must develop their own way. I will be dissatisfied if we are still using the citadel and relays at the end.

We take the CITADEL Mass Relay to dark space, Find out what the reapers are doing over there, and destroy it. We high tail it back to the galaxy, where those reaping bastards are now trapped. Then the united galaxy will take them down one by one...

OOOOOOR

Renegade/Paragon dialog option to convince them all to commit suicide, or change their ways entirely.

Yet another idea is that...like good and bad geth there may be good reapers. So the good reapers could show up to help in some big battle.
