I seriously want to hit whoever the hell it was thought it would be a good idea to lock you into an area and not let you out of it.
I'm stuck in the final battle with Branka and have absolutely NO way of healing myself thanks to this crap. I have no pultices, can't go back to get more, and I have no healer and even if I did I have no lyrium to keep them healing for more than a second. I tried kiting her around with DoTs once, and then she just turned into freaking FIVE of herself which made it impossible. So now my options are
A: replay about 5 hours of the most obnoxious part of the game I've done yet ,
B: Repeatedly keep kiting her for hours and failing.
C: Cheat (which I refuse to do.
D: Tell the game to screw off and be forever pissed at it because I really wanted to finish it.
FAN FREAKING TASTIC
Completely screwed (Branka)

Tried lowering the difficulty level? That's not really cheating.

What difficulty are you on, whats your party makeup, etc...if you have a healer, and a passable party you should be able to do it on Easy with only slight difficulties if you make sure to deal with the golems first.

hit the one (Branka) with the lowest health. make lots of health potions and start popping them.

Load the autosave it makes before you enter the encounter? It autosaves a lot in Orzammar, almost annoyingly so since all ths saves stacking up makes my game slow down. I believe it gives you an opportunity to change party composition directly before the fight too.
I'm not sure how it's Bioware's fault that you didn't supply up or bring a healer. Generally boss fights require both of those things, and it's pretty easy to tell there's a boss coming up since you finally just reached the Anvil, which is what you've been looking for all this time.

Saint..I think the point is that he doesn't have the health pots to pop..

Had the same issue myself.... had to dial difficulty back from hard to normal.

Of course, five hours ago, the game made a point of showing you that you were locked in. If you had reloaded then, gotten your stuff together, and then come back, you wouldn't be in this position.

As someone had said on these forums, there are only two difficulty levels in this game: Wynne and Fail.

I have the difficulty on normal. I didn't even know it could be changed once you started.

I did supply up. Those supplies were quite gone by the time I got to the end of the anvil, and I didn't have a healer with me the whole time, the healer being a moot point as I have no lyrium for them anyway. I'll give it a shot on easy. I can bring her down to half as it is, so that should make the difference. And loading a previous save is a no go for me unless I am completely 100% unable to proceed. I would rather keep throwing myself at the wall than repeat the same moments over and over 100 times.

Keep in mind Branka only multiplies when she touches the Lyrium stones around the area. Assuming you have Morrigan at least (or you are playing a mage) then you have to activate all the Lyrium around the area to stop her from healing/multiplying. I recommend taking out the Golems from weakest to strongest and then fighting branka with 3 members while the 4th (mage) runs around grabbing the crystals.

Given that Lyrium heals and replaces magic/stamina, it's always nice to take it all for yourself.

Dropping it down to easy did it. It was actually almost too easy at that point. Urge to kill falling. Rage subsided. Bruce Banner mode deactivated.
"Given that Lyrium heals and replaces magic/stamina, it's always nice to take it all for yourself."
Tried that and noticed that's how she replicates and does various things, but the amount of hp/mana it regenerates is negligable and she normally beats on you much harder for stopping to pick it up which was a problem. That and it was hard/impossible to keep all the lyrium down given that she would just run for the nearest one and they self replenish after a while.

Branka is a nasty fight, as it was said try to drop the difficulty and focus on the branka with lower health when she split, you dont need to kill all of them, just 1... so dont panic and try to go nut on one...
still an healer is a must have in the party (2 is even better
) and dont turn off the autosave...

You can do the fight without a healer. Hence I played trough the complet game without a healer (bad bad ail from me) knowing I played WoW for 5 years and I know healers are essential.
Anyway, Branca can be killed, with a rogue at least. My party consisted of Morrigan, Shale, Allistair and me (Rogue Archer with Ranger).
Tactics are kill golems first, from white to yellow and then on to Branka. When I finally killed her after 5 tries I was the only one standing with my little Ranger pet and about 10 health left but I done it. Mind I played on eas without any real use of tactics, just the standard ones from the game itself.

I just did the battle and lost and am taking a break before trying again, and wondering what the consequences are for choosing to side with her instead of against her...

You get golems during the final battle if you side with her!
You have to fight Caradin, though, who was an easier fight than this sounds like, though.

^ this
best thing to do in future is to stock up on a couple stacks of 99 lyrium dust/elfroot and vial stacks
only costs a few gold and lasts for a long time
elfves sell unlimited elfroot
mages sell unlimited lyrium dust
and camp has vials
least I think that's how it went

In case anyone is having issues determining which Branka is which:
1) Branka wields a mace, while her clones have swords.
2)Branka's clones are missing whatever buff Branka has, and so only the real one has the rising-purple-particle effect.

Hehehe, rule of thumb boys and girls, stock up on potions or create your own. My wifey Morrigan has brewed 200 lesser potion of healing just for the Deep Roads. LOL

Concentrate on Branka first, attacking her with frost or fire weapons. Morrigan get your ass over here and frost her! Alistair you ******, bash her with your shield and cleanse the area. Shale what the hell, those are not your brothers, pound them all to bits you dweeb!
