interesting find. I wonder if Bio knows?
Yes, that is my discription page. So?
If they are going to come back for an up grade why would you not think the mod is popular?

I just don't see how this is "unfair". Unfair to whom? Unfair by what standard?DahliaLynn wrote...
...Challseus says sex sells. I agree. Your mod could be quite popular. But unfairly, relative to other modders who do not write "next update 5000". (and rightfully so)
Other modders may, or may not percieve endorsements as indicators of community interest in their continuing to work on their mods, or in their developing new ones. The SD team has clearly, publicly, indicated that it does. Fine. It's a nice, simple (one might say even elegant) way to do so.
It uses the BSN's buit-in technology to account for, track, and report the feedback. It's a single number, therefore easy to interpret, and to gauge change over time. The tools and process are managed by the site staff, so it's actually more secure against "manipulation" than some others. And it uses a mechanism that many (most?) of the Community is already familiar with.
IF (and I know it's a big "if") the "score" is meaningful to other modders in this way, they are free to similarly remind/implore the users of their mods of what it would take to for them to put in more effort to update/expand those mods. If not, and this is really more about "public or private bragging rights", then it is impossible for the SD mods to be "displacing" any larger number of "more worthy" (in someone's subjective opinion) mods in the rankings than the exact number of SD mods. And even then only by one place each. So missing from any "Top 25" are, at most, one or two which would otherwise be at the bottom of that list.
Again I ask, how is this "unfair"?

You miss the point of my post. Maybe I can make it simple for you.
1. I come here looking for mods.
2. Most popular mod by lots is Sapphos.
3. I think Sapphos is best mod available cos of being really really popular.
4. I don't care if Sapphos is adult content. I just care if it is good.
5. i try Sapphos and it makes lots of people sleep with me even if I just met them and is really badly written.
6. I think all other mods are worse than Sapphos cos of lots less popularity.
You can understand now?

I understand the problem. Sappho's is written in some places very poorly. It was my first attempt to do dialogues and I crashed the game hundreds of time just getting the first several NPCs to function. The mod content is getting near done and the task is to now go back through and fix about 40 dialogue files that are really screwed up with out having to complete delete them and start over. You can not tell that from the Discription. It is something you would have picked up for the threads and conversations.

And, as someone pointed out very early in this thread, "Welcome to the internet". Just because it's "popular", doesn't mean it's "good", and vice versa. (Never mind the difficulty of defining "good".) Your mistake (so to speak) in your post was in essentially blasting ALL mods based on the perceptions you state above. That is sooooooo not the way the internet, and especially not the Game Modding Community works.
So you made a n00b mistake in your perceptions, and then you proceeded to insult most of the people who use this site since they are obviously mostly fans of the game, and in your clearly given opinion, "Dragon Age equals Porn Age", or you wouldn't have choosen the inflammatory Topic Title. (No, the "?" at the end doesn't excuse you.)

I understand your reason to post here - looking for other mods.
I dont understand (what is missing in your summary) your other sentences about modding at all and some others
And if I am the first day anywhere I'm a little bit ....thoughtful with sentences like yours or not ?
No one hates you, or better, I speak for me - I#m not hating you. Why should I ? Why anytime such hard words?
And you should learn here what you see in the thread: the most active people are those who working with mods. with different opinions to some things here. ok, the world is colorful.... thats why it is wonderful.

You may shine up your explanation any way you choose. But you can't escape the fact that this is an unclean if not low method of attaining popularity. I'm not saying it's "illegal" but more like a manipulation of the system's points design and it's users. You will not see others doing this simply because it is a distasteful low class technique of gaining popularity points. Elegant? I beg to differ.
Perhaps you might like to consider leaving the user to choose to hit your cross out of inspiration rather than have them do it in order to receive something.
I think I've had enough of this....points were made. That's good enough for me. It's your mod. The impression you make is up to you.

DahliaLynn's wedding mod...Absolutely amazing! Huge two thumbs up.
Immort's Ser Gimore mod...Also amazing.
Dark Times mod..Lots of fun and amazing. ( not only does it extend your game play, but it also gives you 2 extra playable companions.)
There are a lot of great mods out there, there are a lot of great minds who put there blood, sweat and tears into these mods. There are mods that I am very anxious to get a hold of when they come out. Banning mods would kill the gaming community, IMO. I've played a lot of online and single player role playing games, and mods just make it that much more fun.
Some may thing that my vote for said mods above were " bought " but you would be sadly mistaken. I only endorse mods that I actually use and like.

You sound much like the OP in the rant about "adult" mods to begin with. YOU don't like it. It offends some sense of propriety that YOU have imposed. Therefore it is, to use your term, "unclean" and shouldn't be allowed.DahliaLynn wrote...

You don't give a reason for your dislike, except by insisting that it isn't "fair". The Nexus site (which I think is fantastic) NAGS one to endorse (positively or negatively) the mods one downloads from there. This is so different... how?
What is it about the SD Team's active identification and promotion of this means of providing feedback that has you so upset? It's not like there's a cash prize involved. (Is there? Maybe I just don't know about the huge amounts changing hands behind the scenes based relative rankings on the BSN.)
If publicly requesting "endorsement of a mod you have enjoyed and want to see expanded" were somehow taking something away from someone else, THEN I could see how it might be "unfair". But as it is...? Only those who actually want to endorse, endorse. And no one who doesn't want to has lost anything at all. (Kind of like "anyone who wants an adult mod can download it. Anyone who doesn't, doesn't. And everyone gets the game they want!)
