The Leviathan of Dis is a gigantic corpse that disappeared from a crater on Jartar in 2163.It is a remains of a genetically engineered starship and its age was nearly a billion years old! older than Sovereign, older than Harbinger, older than the Derelict Reaper!!!

Shortly after its discovery by a batarian survey team,a batarian dreadnought visited the Dis system, after which the Leviathan mysteriously disappeared.

I want to hear your opinion about this, people.

It seems unlikely that this was the reaper leader as it was just lying dormant while Sovereign was out doing all the work, it sounds lazy! At the moment it seems that Harbinger is the de facto leader.

They could have it included in ME3, where Shepard has to go and find what the batarians did with it, if it is a reaper, or actually has anything anything to do with them.

It's likely a Farscape reference/easter egg or some such. If it is a Reaper, I doubt it'd call itself Leviathan, since that word doesn't fit with "Sovereign" and "Harbinger".

No, most Reapers are probably old than Leviathan of Dis.

Million. Also, that 37 million years was a time of death, not time of creation, so yes, "at least" that old, but probably much older.

The Leviathan of Dis could have just been Sovereign, you know.

It may have something to do with the Reapers, but I don't see it being one, & I seriously doubt it's their leader. That would just be< sort of awful.

It's possible it could be the race or whatever that created the Reaper's maybe, or like a Reaper prototype.

I think it's fairly likely it could be something that was possibly created to fight the Reaper's during one of their cycles of destruction, something that obviously failed.

Or like the Smoking Man said, it could just be a shout out to Farscape.

I would enjoy it if they managed to work it into the story at large though, as long as it didn't feel like it had been shoehorned in.

Well it was given that name by the batarians who discovered it so I doubt it's its real name.

The Salarians first discovered it.

May be "Leviathan" is an anti-reaper! :P

The Leviathan of Dis is just a minor easter egg that few people noticed. Stop looking so much into things. We had the same crap when ME2 was announced

maybe this reaper is the key to stopping the reaper fleet it may be gigantic and it could have advanced weapons which would enable it to kill a reaper one shot, maybe sheperd could make a deal with it

No, I'm pretty sure the Batarians found it first, then the Salarians came and quietly (yes, quietly, that's how the Salarians operate) investigated it shortly afterwards, hence their documentation of it. That's my take on it based on the information given to us in the game, anyway.

No, let's not have a President Eden scenario where you can say a few uninspiring lines of speech to convince it to commit suicide (or genocide on its own kin).

It's a farscape reference

http://en.wikipedia....scape#Leviathan

"Leviathans are sentient spaceships in the Farscape universe. They are an engineered race, made sentient by the Builders. Leviathans are made of both biological and mechanical systems, and are thereforebiomechanoid. They have a thick outer skin capable of keeping a pressurized atmosphere inside, and also generate a bioelectric field that can keep small openings in the hull from venting atmosphere."

really fun sci-fi series btw, worth watching. Claudia Black, who voiced Admiral Xen of the quarians and Morrigan in DAO is one of the main characters on this show

Most people thought the Leviathan was Sovereign, since it's discovery almost exactly coincides with the discovery of Sovereign in the first novel, and both were discovered by batarians. If I remember correctly, the Leviathan of Dis was a genetically engineered star ship; that would indicate an organic entity. Reapers are referred to as a machine race indicating a synthetic entity. Here's a thought: what if the quarians weren't the first civilization to build VIs that went horribly AI?

Ting! Tong! you read my mind dude! yeah, most Reapers (Leviathan,Harbinger, etc.) are way older than a billion years old because these are not the time they were created, possibly during the Big Bang in Mass Effect universe.

Thinking back what Sovereign/Nazara have said when you spoke to him;
"Organic life is nothing but a genetic mutation,an accident.Your lives are measured in years and decades. You wither and die.We are eternal. The pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us,you are nothing.Your extinction is inenvitable. We are the end of everything."

We pick up Shepard and his band of merry knights on the ship that contains the key to eradicating the Reaper threat once and for all. The Leviathan.

Shepard and his team, having resisted the temptation of the Compartment Anthrax, answered the three questions at the Catwalk of Death, enlisted the help of the powerful biotic Tim and vanquished the Black Yagh of Aaaaaaaugh, have finally reached their goal.

Tim: Be careful, for the beast that lies within is the most powerful and deadly being to ever reside in this galaxy! Look!

Shepard: Where is it? Behind the rabbit?

The Leviathan was Sovereign.

As for the Farscape reference, all the Reapers are a Farscape reference.

Yea, sort of like how Cerberus was just a minor, insignificant sidequest in ME1, good thing we didn't really see them at all in ME2....

I've seen people even attributing quotes to this thing, where are people getting this stuff from?

I meant the quotes specifically. Didn't see any on the wiki page. The one I've seen used most often is part of soverign's speech with a few things reworded.

Those are made up by a user here on the forums, he even specifically said he's trying to spread it. There have been no quotes from Leviathan.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Ask for proof for everything.
