I'm stuck in the freaking uniforms, and I want my gear back.

Edit #1:  I went through the dude's basement, and as a mage, of course I just aoe grabbed everything without thinking about it, and unfortunately my last save is about 8 hours before hand, and I'm not about to do all that over again.  I just rerolled mage from rogue because, well daggers aren't working properly, so I thought to myself, hey a mage would be nice, but now this happens.  Want to buy a response to what has been a great game until game ending bugs which has me out effectively $65 for the Special Edition.  Really unamused.

I'm in the same boat. Two of my characters are stuck in the guard uniform, somehow Morrigan managed to get out of the uniform and into her normal gear. My last save is from forever ago. Is there a fix or am I just out of luck?  Console command? Anything?

Edit:  As a side note, I'm not exactly sure what you guys were thinking when you put a plot item that is you cannot unequip.  Seems like it's just asking for trouble like this.  I mean, if you uneqipped your disguise, you'd have to slaughter your way through the whole place and that'd just be another way of doing things, no?

I complete quote DrifterZero.

I have the same issue, and i tried almost everything. I tried with the Dragonbone Legion Armor console script (that usually autoequip the legion armor created by the code), but nothing, it just create it in my inventory.

I tried to run into situation that could let me have a change in armor, nothing.

I even tried to edit the save file with the information of the armor equipped, nothing.

I really hope in some sort of fix. Really. This is quite disappointing.

You need to call or email thier support. These forums are mostly user to user support and SOMETIMES BW comes in with advice.

Just "reveal" your self while in Howe's mansion.. go in ALL the doors until somone recognizes you and attacks you... ALL your gear should switch back... but the KEY place it does it is in the basement/dungeon when you first go down there and get attacked. that should trigger all your gear to come back.. and if it doesn't... get the Winter forge mod... delete all the howe gear and re equip yourself with gear you made yourself

1) you should have an earlier autosave
2) going 8 hrs w/o a manual save = not smart for ANY game

if none of my suggestions work.. then Id suggest going back 8 hrs if you lack..wait.. I might habe ONE other idea....

runscript zz_den_debug

http://social.biowar...58/index/275974 check out my post there on how to run the above script, it will let you debug denerim.. there MAY or may not be a plot flag to get your armor back. I have NOT played with that script. if I find anytghing out in the meantime I will let you know

I couldn't find anything from poking around in zz_debug.

Luckily I have a save from right before I did the rescue. So annoying, but not soul-destroying.

Thanks.

Well of course I had an autosave from during the rescue thing, but as I tried stuff around trying to solve and as I loaded 2 or 3 times inside the prison trying to understand what the **** was going on, all the autosaves end up being the same thing, that ****ing prison.

Now not having manual saves for a while might not be the smartest thing I agree, but between you and me, having unequipable/undestructible items (that aren't cursed !!!!), what is the point ?!?!?!?!?!? especially when you can't ensure the quality of the product, and when the beta test didn't stray out of line with a mage...

I just "solved" it by loading a savegame right before Howe's Mansion, then entering without equipping the camouflage uniforms, fighting my way through. On the final battle I withdrew, being imprisoned in Fort Drakon. There I equipped the camouflage armor and escaped, the armor diasppearing on entering Arl Eamons estate.

Something similar happened to me once and I solved it by taking all equipment off, making a save, and restarting the game. After loading the save, I was no longer stuck in uniform and able to equip my equipment again.

Hope this helps!

Try reading the rules of this forum, this is not a place for Bioware to help you, it's for users to help other users.

Keep in mind that when you get the uniforms a popup even says, you have to talk to the person who put them on you to take them off. I don't know if this is your issue.

If you've not saved in over 8 hours then you are playing the game wrong, quicksave is there for a reason and you should have autosaves sooner than 8 hours ago. Anyone who has played a Bioware game before should know to save often.

These issues with things not working properly, in what way do they not work? I went through the game as a rogue my first time and never once had problems with anything, I had a sword and a dagger and my powers and stats were all fine.

It seems that most issues people run into are caused my mods and console commands. My proof that this is the case is because my first play through was on normal with no mods and no console commands being used,

On my subsequent playthroughs, I'm messing around with mods and they are throwing out glitches left and right. Glitches that are solved as soon as I delete the mod.

The most important thing to remember is that the only direct support Bioware is going to give anyone is through the proper customer service channels, i.e. not this forum.

You can't talk to Erlina (the elf maiden who gave you the guard unifrom) after you've talk to Anora who is trapped behind a door with magical lock (or force field to be more precise). And the bug is definitely not due to the usage of mods or console commands.

This is a bug caused by developer assumption. The game developer are assuming that there are 3 ways to "unequip" the guard uniform. First by talking to Erlina and giving the uniform back to her, the second is to trigger any attack before going down to the dungeon and the third is to talk to the very first guard you see when you go down to the dungeon. So the first way will be of no use once you talk to Anora who is still imprisoned, but it's OK we are still left with the 2nd and 3rd. But if you go down to the dungeon and trigger an attack by casting an AOE spell at the first door without first talking to the guard, you loose the 3rd option as well (this is in fact, I'm guessing here, the reason why people get stuck in the guard uniform in the first place). And since you have been to the dungeon, the developer assume that you will be out of the uniform and any attack after that will not trigger any change of equipment and option 2 is of no use as well. Thus you'll be stuck in the guard uniform forever.

I believe that a better way is not to implement a lock on the guard uniform so that players can unequip them anytime, unequip will just simply trigger hostile reaction from all the Howe's guard. This is so that when all else fail players will not be stuck in stupid guard uniform. If this simple idea is not implemented due to some bugs found, then the developers should feel a shame of themselves, instead of solving these, they introduce another severe bug.

*Spoiler Alert*

Well then....since this is a bug and there are no resolution yet, I finished too many quests to go back to the dungeons because of a stupid disguise. Soooo I'm gonna create my own ending where queen Anora takes the crown and my character lives happily ever after at the brothel (cause thats where I tried to get the damn uniform off!!!!). THE END.

...on to the next game, I'm done :D

wait, what about the darkspawns you say? Well, its the end of the world so might as well be in the brothel.

The problem Im having like most is the game does an autosave X3 or 4 which in most regards lags, slows or bogs the game down until you delete these massive amounts of autosaves...and they are stacked so you cant just use one. I have no mods or the character design mod either. Using patch 1.02 as well. High end machine too. You can't win for losing with bioware who really dont give 2****s about you.
