I've bought my DAO copy from Direct2drive; the installation and registration went smooth and so did the DLC redeeming process.
I finished my first playthrough few days ago so I decided to give the game a rest before starting a new character.
When I decided to play again, right after launching the game, this error window popped up: http://pici.se/pictures/IHMtzRlZt.jpg
I was pretty sure my game's setup files were quite fine since I didn't do anything with them after the last time I successfully launched and played the game and I already thought it had something to do with the EA activation process.
I reinstalled the game (and patched it) from the SAME D2D installer (so it's not corrupt) and it worked for that day. After one day I am having the same issue again which is quite annoying. I tried to delete the Dragon Age folder from My Documents directory so that it'd start with the default settings, I made sure the right services were running on the background and I even tried to restart them but the game just won't run.
Now, I really don't think it's something related to my installation but rather it has got to do with the activaction and I am not looking forward to reinstall the game every time (often) this error pops up.
Has anyone experienced the same and managed to fix it?
There is a problem with your game's setup.

Fix For Digital Copies: “Configuration error please reinstall”.
Download the EADM:
http://eastore.ea.com/eadm
Install
it and then run it. Click the login tab and then log in to your
EA account. Should be the same account you use to login here. Next
click the activation tab. Activate your copy using the Key provided to
you by Direct 2 Drive. Next goto downloads and it should show up as
already downloaded with the option to play.

Thanks for your reply.
My copy is already activated in fact as soon as I logged in, eadm picked up my DAO installation. It reports that there are 8 new items ready for download but after a while a message saying "Lost internet connection during download." pops up. According to Active Ports, eadm seems to use the ports 443 and 80 which have been forwarded.

try reducing the overall downloads to just one or two at a time and see if that helps... you might also find some help in the stickied DLC FAQ

I can't really set the number of downloads in the EADM since they are queued automatically; I've also skimmed through the DLC FAQs but I didn't find a solution to my issue.
Anyway long story made short I reinstalled the game and it's working again but I expect to run into the same issue very soon as it has already happened.

I've forgotten to reply back to this thread, I've managed to fix this issue. In my case, I've come to realize that the game randomly deleted the daorigins.par file on exit from the \\bin_ship folder.
You should create a copy of that file so that you are able to paste it back into that directory should that error message pop up again.
I've also avoided the error so far by flagging that file as read-only.
