actually they need to re-arrange and resize the top left and all of the header stuff - it's wayyyyyyyyy too big..

forums should start at far left and to all the way across the screen - not 1/2 way from center/right!

shrink the status stuff to 1/8th size and move the "forum header far left and up"...and then i think more ppl might like it..

just my 2 cents worth

oh, just noticed the EA stuff at the bottom? is this Bioware or EA owned site? or does that make no difference anyways?

These forums with the added profile features look great for community-based things, such as creating modding groups and such, but for lenghty discussions and ease of use I definitely prefer the old forums.

I think what they should have done is limit the whole "social" thing to your account and keep the old layouts.

Did they die?  Everytime i try to go there i end up here.

No, they didn't die. They're still there.

I wish more people would answer the question asked instead of a somewhat related one.

I'm not really interested in browsing the social forums, so I suppose this marks the end of a long time spent checking these forums for questions I've had or other updates.

Not that that particularly matters this close to release, but I will miss the old forums, whether they're actually closed or just depopulated by the redirect to the social site.

But but... this doesn't list all my other Bioware games beneath my username...

Ah well, guess we'll get used to them.

I just want a "Go to Developer Post" function like the old forums and a larger font. This font size is killing my eyes.

This forum is a bit clunky. I could stand to see it more streamlined and simplistic. However, I really like the idea of having information on my in-game characters on the site. Since I play a lot of BioWare games (and am going to get back into them hardcore with a new computer and Dragon Age refueling me), it is great timing. :)

yes, clunky would be the correct term. A function that shows if there are any new posts (like the green thing) would be appreciated.

I agree about the font size. It is tiny.

Yes.  That functionality is on the way.

Well, the old Dragon Age forums ARE still here: http://daforums.bioware.com/

You have a week to psych yourself up, if you prefer. :)

Has it been confirmed that no new post-release forums will be up on the main site and that the social site will be the only official vehicle for DA:O forums? I think there's still some confusion out there about how this will be dealt with.

I'm sure they will continually work on this one. Like make the fonts a bit bigger. Just give it time. Other than that, it's not too bad.

Yes, it has been confirmed. The old Dragon Age forums will be closed and archived off. There will be no merging of threads or anything like that, to my knowledge.

Thank you! I must have missed it. there's some Sturm und Drang over on the other forums about their closure and nobody seemed sure if DA:O would be all social site, all the time. I like the features over here better, although I still hope they either improve the layout or allow customization once the site is out of beta. That is, unless the site remains in beta for perpetuity like gmail.

For you, you mean. You speak for no-one but yourself. There's no reason that they should change the site for your tastes and ignore everyone else. Also there's an entire forum for site feedback and it's not this one.

They've been getting feedback on the site for months now. And some of us do look at it on teeny monitors and appreciate the lack of horizontal scrolling involved  :P

Improvements to be made (many of which were already mentioned)

1) font size increase
2) easy to find filter for bioware posts (like the old forum where you click the icon)
3) better use of screen space.  why so much space devoted to the avatar pic?  what's with the huge icons to the left of threads?
4) more window size for editing quick posts.  I can only fit 5 lines of text in this text editor before scrolling.
5) more options for text editing in quick posts
6) remove the avatars from the discussions (leave them in the threads).  Avatars in the discussion boards seem only to serve the purpose of adding painful scrolling to the user experience.  I'm only reading the text and don't care about what picture the person has who posted it.  In the thread, the picture is useful for quickly identifying members, as I'm concerned about who responded to what.

Thanks, that works great. Never heard about about that one. It'll do nicely for now. :)

You can also use the mouse wheel + cntrl.  However, this is no excuse for not fixing something that many people do not like.

Rule of thumb for usability: Don't make me think!  (thank you Steve Krug)
