I suppose Steam requires that games attained through them be left in the Documents folder? I created a special Games folder for all the games I install (where I directed Steam to be installed), so when I finally located where NWN2's folder was after downloading it, I moved it there, but I assume I'm going to have to move it back as per Steam's requisites and just leave an alias in the Games folder... *grumble*

Also, nearly all the folders in the NWN2 folder appear completely empty. Not sure I understand this after an 11+G download. If one doesn't need to be online to play, is all the content in the same place? So when adding mods and such, .haks go to the haks folder, overrides to overrides, portraits, etc.?

Steam games install to C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common , or just C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common if you are on 32 bit.

Unfortunately, it works that same way with the non-Steam version as well, being split up like that.  I installed NWN2 to my larger hard drive into my "d:\\games\\" folder, but a large bulk of the data, such as the large custom modules has to go into the "C:\\Users\\[Username]\\Documents\\Neverwinter Nights 2" folder that it created for itself on my smaller system hard drive.  If there's a way to change that behaviour, I'd like to know it, too.

And Kamal, what you said is correct if you leave Steam at defaults at its original installation, but if you install the Steam client to another location, as I have, its games install to that location (such as on another hard drive in a "games" folder).

That's great; glad you found it. :)

Apologies for the short message - I was pressed for time and couldn't do a search for a selection of links.

Seriously? Why have they stopped selling it? I'm cursing myself for not picking it up sooner on Steam :/

Hopefully it will yet get a GOG release.

With the change of publisher name on the Impulse page from Atari to Hasbro as evidence, I think it indicates that the stores took the game down due to change of rights ownership, and most of the stores have not renegotiated with the new rights owner, Hasbro, for the rights to sell the game. I believe their slowness in doing so is due to it being an older game. As Tiberias mentions above, currently only Impulse carries it online, and only in a bundle with NWN1. But the good news is that it includes the Mysteries of Westgate expansion, which currently isn't available anywhere else.

Thanks for the reply, that is tempting for Mysteries of Westgate but €24 is too much for the anthology when I already have NWN and it's expansions. I guess. I need to keep an eye out for a sale there, or hope it re-appears elsewhere.

Anyway, again thank you Tchos

Is there any chance of making it avaliable again? If so, any date?
Nowadays its impossible to find this game, besides downloading, but since i found out Steam, i gave up of any kind of game piracy (i like to think that i DO make difference for the makers of games), and, to be honest, Steam is the only site, Besides World of Warcraft, that i trust when buying anything. Anyway Thanks for your time.

gog.com has NWN2 Complete for $7.99 currently (60% off). You get MoW DRM free.

Get NWN1 Diamond & NWN2 Complete together for $11.98

May have a better price around July 4th, but why not go without a soda for 3-4 lunches.

question please.I have all the old discs for NWN. but of course my new pc has no discs readers.  So if I buy the game for the $9.99 I can not download it and play on the different worlds or modules like before ad not on the NWN on line game?  Or can I find somewhere to down load for free if I can provide my key codes ?

If you buy it from gog.com, they provide a digital download of the installation. iirc you used to need to request from customer support a multiplayer key for the game, I don't know if they ever fixed that so the download is multiplayer valid.

There is nowhere to download for free just by providing key codes.
