Wait thats a lie, I forgot Alpha Protocol was also released on PS3 as well and that game was pretty much ME2 with a stealth system.

You can't be freakin serious.

You PS3 fanboys just can't accept that Xbox has good games can you? The day all systems have the same exact games will be a good day in gaming.

LOL the fanboyism is strong in this thread.
Whatever reason for PS3 users excitement or lack of for ME2 can be attributed to a lot of different reasons.
the long wait after PC and 360 users get it can play a big part.
Some PS3 users have the PS3 for the PS3 exclusives that they really want to play (I know I did) I just bought my PS3 not 2 months ago and have been enjoying Uncharted 1 and 2 (OMG AWESOME), God of War, Infamous, MGS4, Red Dead Redemption (main reason I bought it) Smackdown Vs Raw 2011 (shut up I llke it :P) games like Heavy Rain, Uncharted 3 and other PS3 exclusives is what I got the damn system for.
I had already finished ME1 and 2 three times before I even decided on getting the PS3. When given a choice I will always pick the PC version over the console but by refusing to be PC fanboy I am enjoying some great console games as well.

Well put... I completely agree. ^_^

As I said, I don't know too much about those games

Well that much is obvious as you have no idea what you are talking about, storywise ME2 is pretty much like every other Bioware game available (you do know that Origins was released on PS3 dont you?) and combat wise it plays very similar but far inferior to the Uncharted games (minus the climbing and exploring of course). ME2 doesnt offer anything new, while there is no game that can offer the exact same experience as ME2 I am sure that you would be hard pressed to find a game that offers the exact same experience as Big Rigs either, that doesnt mean that the game is automaticly worth playing.

Good job arguing a point I already admitted, while virtually ignoring the storytelling point I made.

Yes, I know that Dragon Age Origins is on the PS3.  But it's also on PC and 360, while you were talking about exclusives.  Even so, Mass Effect differs from Dragon Age in that the main character is fully voiced.  And actually, ME2 is something of a departure from BioWare's standard story structure.  The intro section before the game world "branches out" is relatively short, and while there are several "hub worlds", the story is not focused on them.  The story is split between nonlinear recruitment and loyalty missions across the galaxy, and linear missions fighting the Collectors.  Regular BioWare games, including Dragon Age, have an intro section, a non-linear arrangement of hub areas each with a quest line for the main plot, and then a final stage.

Whether or not ME2 has a the standard BioWare plot setup is beside the point, though.  The fact remains that no PS3 exclusive even tries to give the player the control over the story and interactions with NPCs.

As for ME2's combat vs. Uncharted -- again, I haven't played Uncharted, but from what I can tell it seems like a rather down-to-earth shooter with an Indiana Jones-style adventure story.  Tell me, can you cloak as Nathan Drake?  Can you hit enemies with telekinetic force?  Can you freeze them solid, or incinerate them?  Can you charge at enemies, phasing through objects to slam into them?  Can you get guns that fire mini-nukes and mini-black holes?

You move your character around, take cover, and fire basic guns the same way in Uncharted 2 and Mass Effect 2.  That's about where the gameplay similarities end.

You claim to know this dispite the fact you havent actually played Uncharted and earlier admited you know next to nothing about the game?

But seriously why are you trying so hard force crappy Xbox games down the throats of PS3 users? I have already explained why they couldnt care less about the game so why press the issue?

When the console wars end, peace will rein supreme, the reapers will bring everyone cake, and this will be Shepard's favorite day on the Citadel.

But ugh the EXTREME fanboyism of some people make me afraid to admit my ps3 flag waves, but then I run into a "HALO IZ TEH BEST XBOX WEWT" guy and realize both sides are lucky enough to have crazy fans.

Gross, gross oversimplification.  Having played both games, I can say that the combat works very differently past the fact that both have guns and cover systems.  The story is also very different, you don't have a squad in AP, you stay at a small safehouse rather than a large ship in AP, there is no exploration in AP at all, AP has a more expansive weapon upgrade system, and the conversation systems are very different.  In ME2, you can non-linearly explore "Investigate" conversation options without moving the conversation forward.  In AP, conversations are timed, and progress linearly with no option to elongate the conversation.

And all this is beside the point.  You started by naming PS3 exclusives, I talked on the subject of PS3 exclusives as well. AP was on 360, PS3, and PC.

You're right, I don't know.  I wouldn't know if you can cloak or use telekinesis or snap-freeze enemies or fire black holes in Uncharted.  Why don't you tell me if it does so we can clear this all up?

I'm not trying to force it down your throat.  I never did.  You asked why PS3 owners would want to play ME2 when they have all their exclusives, and I answered.  Don't ask a question if you don't want to hear the answer.

Fanboys are whats wrong with this world no joke.

I'm gonna get one thing straight.

I don't have an xbox 360... don't want one. I'm not against it and I can admit theres good games on them but very few of them really interest me. I have a problem with Microsoft in general (bad experiences with windows would do that to anyone) but you will never hear me say XBAWX SUXXORS.

Though really the lack of excitement is explained by this being a year old port.

Well the point I was trying to make is there is nothing that the Xbox exclusives can offer that the PS3 doesnt already have, your whole argument on why PS3 users should play ME2 was based on the rather false fact that it can offer something PS3 games cant.

Really there is no reason why the PS3 users should get excited by the release of ME2 and I know I sure as hell wont be buying it for the PS3.

Yes but your comparison of it with Uncharted is kind of unfair.  Uncharted doesn't have all those cool powers but the whole concept of it wouldn't have worked if it did.   Its supposed to be a fast paced action experience where you play as a guy in over his head.  Both games are awesome for very different reasons and they couldn't be any more different.

Although as much as I want to play ME2... I can't throw out a fair opinion on it since I still have to wait a couple more weeks... so it's not fair yet to say ps3 gamers don't like it.

Also PS3 doesn't get ME1 so they get some stupid interactive comic giving only the most basic story points and then BAM ME2 yay.

I wouldn't be excited for it either just for that.

Would have no desire to play it without being able to import my Shepard from ME1

@Gandalf: Whatever. I'm sure if Mass Effect was a PS3 console exclusive, and Halo Reach was coming to the PS3, then you would be listing ME along with Uncharted and MGS as exclusives that are "far superior" to Halo Reach. I'm done trying to get through your thick fanboy skull.

@Rockworm: My comparison with Uncharted was not intended to show that Uncharted is bad in any way. Its gameplay suits its setting, I'm sure. Gandalf made the claim that Mass Effect 2's gameplay is similar but inferior to Uncharted, and that is what I was arguing against.

Oh well in that case Gandalf is a complete moron.. having played both I can say these 2 games are as alike as Family Guy and CSI (hint: there nothing alike)
Edit:  Oops very bad analogy here as CSI sucks and ME2 and Uncharted both rule.

Mass Effect 2 is great I just wish more people were able to experience the greatness of Mass Effect 1. I own a PS3 and I'm exicted my fellow PS3 owners will be able to enjoy the game. I also won a 360. I enjoy both consoles equally. It is my hope that the video game community would just evolve beyond it current over fascination with the common FPS.

Shallow words from a butthurt Xbox fanboy. If I thought the Xbox had games worth playing then I would have brought one instead of a PS3, I am no fanboy I just go where the best games can be found.

Bah! Stupid console wars are stupid, idiots involved in console wars are idiots.

Simple fact, all of us like gaming!

It doesn't matter if you prefer the 360 or not, it doesn't matter if the PS3 is the place to be, it doesn't matter if your PC is the best damn right in the whole galaxy. What matters is that you like gaming and if you like gaming then you should like the fact that others like gaming too no matter what damn system they use.

All the stupid fanboys that are only really interested in stupid system wars should go back to school and have it out in the school playground where you belong. Whilst the rest of us can come to such forums as these and have nice civilised discussions about games and playing the great games that the likes of Bioware, Ubisoft, Media Molecule and others create.

Did you just compare a show that used to change TV history (a long time ago) with Family Guy and conclude that Family Guy doesn't suck?

I think that since ps3 owners are very loyal to their ps3 and dislike xbox owners they are always going to be mad they got it almost a year later.

Plus they probably expected to get something extra but not really infact many things are taken away from their me2 playthrough because they only get the 6 choices in their little comic.

Its not the owners of 360 i dislike, its the crap system. Sorry, anyone who has purchased more the 2 360's is a complete and utter idiot in my book. Ive had my fat *refurbished* PS3 for nearly 4 years and have not had one single problem. Hell, i still have my original first purchased Xbox thats nearing, what, 9/10 years old. Sorry the quality of Microsoft's system dropped by miles and miles with the 360. Sure the games might be great, but those games are worthless if your system is taking a dirt nap every time you turn around.

Im excited for the release, i might be one of a total of five people who have not played ME2. My computer is crap and i will never own a 360. I could honestly careless what game looks better on what system. I dont play games because of graphics, i play for the story, and im pretty sure nothing has changed story-wise.

[spam video removed]

A fanboy is someone who irrationally and obsessively announces their opinion and concludes it is fact. You listed a slew of games you cite superior and offer no evidence of their superiority, primarily because there is none. Likewise, I could not offer evidence to insinuate Mass Effect is better. Therefore, it is an opinion and opinions have the glorious undertone of not being based upon factual compiled data.

Uncharted World 2 > Mass Effect 2 = Opinion
Mass Effect 2 > Uncharted Word 2 = Opinion

If opinion ever equates to fact, you are a fanboy.

Not to get this off topic or anything, but I put all of the settings on the PC ME2 to the max and it still looks worse than the xbox version in regards to textures. It's noticeable on the backdrops for hub worlds like Omega, Citadel, and Illium also. It looks blurry in the background since it's one big texture. Why?

Those who have PS3 and like Mass Effect probably either already bought it to their 360/PC and therefore feel no need to buy it a second time, like is my case

To me, this feels more like a launching pad for ME3 in the PS3 than it is to sell more copies of ME2, honestly.

well i have a ps3 and got mass effect 1 and 2 on pc, but i havent finished mass effect 1 yet, im actually looking quite forward to playing mass effect 2 on ps3, i remember somewere that the mass effect 2 on ps3 is running on the new ME3 engine too and comming with all DLC to date, so your theory isnt entirely true i guess, i dont know i also did the same for Dragon Age orgins, bought it when it first came out on pc and bought the expansion and all DLC, then when ultimate edition came out on ps3 i bought that too, i dont know why but it just feels good to play it on a tv on a console at times instead of sitting at a computer :S lol
