I dont know about anyone else, but the enemy that annoys me the most and seems to always screw me up the most are the Shrieks. I hate when they show up halfway through me winning a fight and dart around like they're on drugs raining blows on my party (especially myself as a relatively low defense mage)

What enemy annoys you the most in a fight?

The Dark spawn Conjurer during the final battle really gets up my nose. Is it stealth that he uses as you're not supposed to be able to teleport in Thedas!

Anything that overwhelms in packs, which would be spiders and shadow wolves.

Emmissaries, with that red circle of suck thing they cast on you that not even Alistair's cleanse seems to get rid of...and while you are having your health whittled away suddenly everything else on the screen decides you are ten times more tasty than key lime pie and you get jumped by 6 mobs all tearing at you at once.

So, yea...Emmissaries...bad bad bad...

That made me lol. So true.:P

At first, it was Emissaries and mages in general... But, after my mage got Mana Clash, I got my sweeeet revenge on all of them. Nothing like scoring one-hit KOs with them. :P

After that, I'll have to second who made the topic: Shrieks. Specially when you don't expect them, didn't save your game for awhile, get killed for nothing and have to do all over again. <_<

Emissaries. Definitely Emissaries. I don't think I've ever survived a Red Ring of Death such as those. I always tend to wade through the sea of darkspawn until I reach the Emissary and do whatever I can to stun him until he dies. It's an efficient strategy as long as your party is relatively self-providing.

The Broodmother. Mostly because, for some unknown reason, my party likes to run right up to her, hit her once, then stand there not attacking while she smacks them around and spits acid in their faces.

sounds like a tactics set up issue...maybe the all burn one talent and don't have a secondary tactic for 'enemy;nearest visible;sick 'em'

It could be, but I don't think so. Even the character I have control of will only attack once then just stand there. I have to keep mashing the X button for my character to attack continuously. Strangely, this only happens during the fight with the Broodmother.

Anything that uses Curse of Mortality or Crushing Prison. So, Emissaries and some mages.

I also have different annoyances with different characters. For my dual-wielding rogue, things that used overwhelming and had a lot of armour were the most annoying. My archer warrior only really had a trouble with Witherfang, for some reason.

Shrieks can be pretty annoying, too.

In Origins I have to go with the Spidey crowd. But in Awakenings its definitely the Childer Grubs. I mean, this critter is so damage lame it can nibble freely on me for five minutes and not get my HP down below 75%, but it can still "overwhelm" me and take me outta the fight right when my party needs me to help out with that armored ogre who showed up at the same time.

The foes that spam special attacks like Ogre's and Golems are the most annoying for me.

Spiders definitely. I don’t have arachnophobia or anything but the way they attack (even normal attacks) just creeps me out. Add to that the overwhelms and that annoying web attacks which cripples me when I was trying to reach a caster and I had enough reasons to make my Deep Roads experience not a fun one.

- Archers using Scattershot. Particularly bad when they come in groups, since they'll be able to use the ability in quick succession.

- Mages using Fireball. Let's see, it knocks you're entire party down, does hefty damage at the start AND does damage over time. And since you're momentarily incapacitated, you might not have time to heal before all your HP burns away.

That "red ring of death" several people have mentioned is a Curse of Mortality. It does 150+%spellpower spirit damage over time, so if you're having a big problem with it, anything that protects from spirit damage might help.

I use Mana Clash to get rid of the Emissaries as soon as I see them. At high level, they start resisting it, so using a Vulnerability Hex and then the Mana Clash is a good idea.

My irritations: Overwhelms, Scatter Shots, Fireballs, and Shriek yells.

I'd amend that to 'friendly mages using Fireball'. Avernus uses it, the mages on the road use it and if you summon the circle mages for your army in the final battle they use it. None of them pay any attention to the friendly fire problem.

This current playthrough my mage put Avernus in a forcefield immediately and then dealt with Sophia and her skellies. Much aggravation was saved thereby.

I HATED those shadow werewolves. All they did was Overwhelm one after another and there was like 10 of them. If not for the fact that I was a 2-hand warrior champion who could hit them all simultaneously and beat them solo (when I finally got off the ground) it would have been a complete group wipe.  It I was lucky I ever got a chance at all to fight back.

They just get to appear on top of you already in overwhelm mode. WTF?!?!

OH I forgot one. Frreaking templars in the circle tower. Since I usually play a Mage (my canon is Fem/elf/mage) that holy smite followed by cleanse really screws with my game play.

Open the door, Click, SMASH!! Holy Smite...stand there like an idiot with that golden circle round my head.

Then the cleanse removes all my magical party buffs grrrrrr (but not that red circle of suck whyyyyyy?)

For the same reason I hate tag team scattershot, just stand there like a moron getting peppered with damage and can't move, can't cast, can't do a damn thing! GRRRR!
