Nope, at least not in-game. You can always change appearance using Gibbed though.

yes u can... still gives u the choice... if memory serves right to:

If I'm not mistaken you can change the face but not the class.

I'm 99% sure you can in ME2, but in ME1 you can't.

So you can? I'd prefer to beat the game and do a New game+, than restart with a brand new character.

You can change the way your character looks, but you can't change anything else -- class, background, and gender.
