Fallout 3 - extremely boring environment and interactions with NPCs. Play New Vegas for an infinitely superior experience.

Oblivion - really enjoyed it at first but has too many bugs/technical issues still present and stripped too many features that made Morrowind fun. Not to mention the combat system only makes it worse.

Final Fantasy XIII - beautiful game but very shallow experience.

Honestly, anything from Japan in the past decade. I hate them all (Japanese games, not the Japanese).

Fallout 3- I have no desire to play another Post- Apocalypse game, with nods to the early 1950's pop culture ever again. It started out great, then got stupid and boring.

Basically any samey dull JRPG that makes you spend hours grinding through repetative battle sequences to level up.

I chuckle every time I see this mentioned by someone who has Dragon Age registered under their nickname.

Becauuuuse why?

Dragon Age was at least exciting to play i always found the JRPG battle systems a bit dull some games do try but others make the turn based system incredibly monotonus (i'm aware my spelling sucks if i got that wrong) And the dungeon crawling ALL the dungeon crawling *cries at the memories*

Mass Effect 2. It was nothing like the first, which introduced me to the Mass Effect universe, so seeing how BioWare re-invented it all around, wasn't that welcome.

Morrowind. I really wanted to get into this game but couldn't even be bothered to get past the first area. I'm not sure if it was the soundtrack or the atmosphere or the dark murkiness of everything, but every time I try to play this game I fall asleep. Literally. It's a shame because I hear lots of great things about this game. Oh well.

I am with Lauron and a whole bunch of players. Piranha Bytes are the best. And Arcania, while indeed one of the worst ever, has nothing to do with PB. Publisher JoWood had the rights for another Gothic game and gave it to Spellbound for development. Now we know why JW and PB tore the contract apart after G3. They wanted PB to have done the same **** as we see in Arcania.

Now, this one is so bad that none mentioned it. I'd say because prolly none have played it. Dungeon Lords.

The original Fable, I haven't tried the sequels, but the previews and reviews gave me the impression, that they weren't meant for me.

All MMORPG's, all of them. Can't stand the people, can't stand the concept.

jRPGs with a few exception: FFVII, FFX, Chrono Cross and SMT: Persona 4. In the recent years I have become more and more aware of the culture gap between me and japanese culture. But while the aforementioned games are very japanese, they still have a special place in my heart.

I really hated Elder Scrolls: Oblivion...

I know a lot of people liked it & RPG of the Year and all that...but I played that game for over 100 hours and didn't find anything really different than what I saw in the first 2 hours of Gameplay...

I tried a JRPG once. NEVER AGAIN.

But I hate most modern entertainment that comes out of Japan, so, take that with a grain of salt.

I don't hate an RPG for crummy combat, bad sound design, or boring story.  I hate a developers' refusal to put "convenience" features into the game and thus got in the game's way.<_<

At first, I loved Eternal Sonata; the combat was fun, the music gorgeous, and the history information interesting.

Then I put the game down for a week, came back, and was completely lost:
  • Where am I?
  • What's the next objective?
  • Why must I fight eight critters in a row while I'm just trying to figure out where to go?
After a few hours, I gave up.  It's been a year, and I'm still disappointed.  Would it have killed the developers to include a small map of the area that has already been explored?  Or, even more importantly, let the player skip through the fifteen-minute cutscenes?  I wanted to restart the game, but couldn't face wasting all that time listening to the same thing.:(

Agreed. I will never understand the Koreans with their infinite grinding games either. I love stories, and I don't mind SOME grinding, but IMO, grinding is just a way to make content without putting a lot of time and money in to it.

There was a time I had all but given up on RPGs. The Early millenium seemed to be a dull time for RPGs. Many changes were happening and all we had were little "niche" games that I didn't feel any satisfying game play with. It wasn't until 2006 that I picked them back up again. Just too many to count that I felt were bad, so I gave a time frame instead. lol

On a last note, about 3 months ago I started playing Age of Conan. What a mistake. That game had so much potential, it seems, but when you see bugs from 2 years ago still lingering, and with every patch, you end up with more bugs than before the patch and only a couple gets fixed, it starts making the game completely unplayable.

The game is close to completely dying. Only a few hang on, and they will fight tooth and nail to convince you it's a great game. Don't listen. Lack of players for groups, lack of customer support and lack of attention to bugs makes the game the most annoying I have ever played. What a shame.

I have absolutely never in my entire life heard anyone ever call Bioshock an RPG. That's probably the last genre anybody would call it, other than fighting... or racing... or sports... or cooking simulation.

As for the OP, I really wanted to love Oblivion, but... I just couldn't get into it. Don't know why. I like Fallout 3, though.

You obviously have no idea what grinding is if you think Dragon Age is a grinding game. Try playing Aeon, Knights of Camalot or try reaching level 150 on Rappelz and tell me you think that is even a remote comparison. In Rappelz, it takes 1 hour of balls to the wall grinding with cash shop items to get  .1% (Notice there is a dot in front of the number 1) by level 140 and that's with a full dungeon group making insane kill numbers.

Lol no...   Spellbound made Arcania, and that is a piece of censored. Arcania is a strong 1.3/10, it does pretty much everything wrong, bad writing(story, dialogues etc), bad gameplay, bad grahics(bl000m), insane handholding, no c&c and close to 0 other rpg mechanics done remotely good...
Risen is made by the people who made the first 3 Gothics, Piranha Bytes. Risen was a good game, though not as good as Gothic 2:Night of the Raven which probably is my all time favorite =)

Don't think I hate any of the RPGs I've played. Well except maybe the one jRPG I ever tried, one the Final Fantasies that was released on PC, whichever one it was.

There's also Gothic 2 and 3 (never tried 1). Now I really don't hate them or anything, but they just failed to interest me in any way, not sure why.

Suppose there could be some RPGs from that time in the 90s when they first started going 3D that I hate, except I wouldn't know because I never managed to play most of those for more than 30 minutes without getting horribly motion sick.

BG1 & 2

heu?!...

Yea I know, you can hate me all you want but I'm not trolling or anything like that.
I just couldn't get into it, it's one of those games that has not aged well. Playing later WRPGs of the D&D system spoilt me a bit and when it came to Baldur's Gate I played about half-way through the game and realized how primitve and dull it really was. Never actually finished it either. I tried again with BG2 and came to the same conclusion.
The only BG games I like was Dark Alliance but that's only related to BG by name so I guess that doesn't count

SILENCE HERITIC!! :P

I could never get into any of the JRPG's that I've played, the turn based combat style just lacked any excitment.  I like the realtime turnbased style used by the Infinity Engine.  I don't hate them per say, but I just don't find them enjoyable.

Final Fantasy as a whole. I never could get into them, between the sterotypical characters that are constant in every JRPG the story in a whole also remains the same, just different encounters.

Really? That's interesting. Most people(including myself) would say the other way around(that ME2 is better than ME1). But you are entitled to your opinion.

Same publisher, but Risen was made by the developers of Gothic I-III. Gothic 4 was made by a team whose only accompishment was an Commandos clone in a gunslinger setting.

My problem with ME2 is rather simple. ME1 made a solid foundation for a second game to build upon, but instead BioWare tore down the foundation and built a new one; ME2. Thus throwing away most that made ME1 into ME1, out of the window.

Alpha Protocol, when I tried it, I can't seem to hit the broad side of a barn even though I lined up my best shot.
Final Fantasy 13 did not live up to the expectations of 7 for me but it's ok, however, I hate how it doesn't live up to FFVII.

Final Fantasy XIII. I was really excited for it. Hadn't played Final Fantasy games since FF8.
Square Enix tore my heart out and threw it for their hellhounds for a chew toy. It's going to take them hella of a effort to even get me look at a new FF game again.
