What are some RPGs you hated?

Its for these reasons that I loved Fable II so much. Fable II is by far the definitive Fable experience imo. It has almost everything one wanted from Fable 1. For me it had the ability to focus only on strength, skill, or will, and in the case of old-age hairs, dyes could make your hair any color you wanted. The only negative with Fable II in my opinion was the lack of a final boss fight. That was terribly anticlimatic.
With all the good Fable II did to redeem the series, why it was so streamlined and messed up in Fable III I'll never know... :/

I’d have to list the likes of the ‘Wheel of Time’ game created with the original Unreal engine which was just a poor imitation that no effort went in to stealing the name of a good fantasy books series.
Enchanted Arms, it was just a horrible game that had no place being on the PS3.
The Last Remnant, really disappointing somewhat of gamble purchase I struggled to get more than a few hours in to the game.
ORPHEN: Scion of Sorcery, another terrible game, painful would be an apt description,
To the OP, Summoner actually had good premise but it’s a good call on a hated game, I actually made it a few maps into the game but seemed to hit a bug/ dead end and had no idea what to do or where to go lol.
I challenge anyone of you to play the games listed above, start to finish, then come here and say Fable , Baldurs Gate or Oblivion are their most hated RPG games.

Edit: actually that wasn't really a good enough excuse to post the fabulous You're Winner ! trophy. I'll need to find a better one.

what is this i dont even
Fallout
It's less balanced than an obese chav on one side of a see-saw, and his White Lightning bottle on the other side. Give me Tactics instead, it's much better!
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Yeah... I paid £15 for this trash? Yay!

Summoner 2, on the other hand, was a total abomination... ditching the party based combat for hack 'n slash. The story didn't make much sense either, and basically overrode everything established in the first game.

The hell are you smoking? In what way can you possibly consider that an RPG? It's a frickin' FPS, and a damn good one at that. And it's a whole lot more interesting than most of the books of that series...which really isn't a difficult feat though.Jiggasaurus wrote...

It was a critically acclaimed game too, but one that unfortunately, like so many critically acclaimed games, barely sold.

lol, you're just asking for trouble by posting this. I would kind of agree about Bloodlines though even though I liked it. It's one of those kind of games that I felt was kind of crappy and great at the same time. Nier, and Divinity II are kind of like this as well.

Fallout 3
I don't play jRPG games, because they are just ridiculous and I'd hate them too.

Voice acting aside the game also sucked for being as cliched a JRPG as you could possibly imagine and for totally ripping off the Tales series.
Also, elaborating further on Vampire:Bloodlines. A lot of people may not understand why I think the game was crap because I was one of the few people who actually bought the game when it was first released. The bugs in that game were so bad that you'll feel guilty about ever accusing Obsidian games of lacking polish.
I remember one really bad thing about the game was that the longer you played it, the worse the frame rate got. After a few hours the game would become unplayable even though the game was more likely to crash before then.
The game has been heavily fan-patched since then and is pretty cool now. Still wish they'd spent more time with the game. I heard they were going to give us a Sabbat campaign and there are even some hidden files which show voice acting for the Sabbat campaign. That would've been really interesting.

Star ocean: Till the end of time. What the heck was this crap? this is one of the dumbest games I have played. I liked the second one but then it turns out that the whole game is taking place inside of a game and then they escape into the real world and it's a game that everyone is aware of. This is one of the dumbest stories I have ever seen in a game. I hated this
This is one of my favourite games of all time. I played the director’s cut.
Great story but the ending was not very good, that is the only fault with the game.
The 2nd one was rubbish, played about 20 hours then said enough of this

Also, why all the hate for Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. It was probably one of my favorite games growing up. Maybe I need to try FFT to compare the game but just because it seems more kid friendly doesn't automaticly make it a bad game. I mean the gameplay mechanics I felt was done really well and I also loved the fact that you can train any of your characters in pretty much any other of the classes. I mean what is cooler than a dual wielding paladin.

I’ve played some real shockers down the years, I don’t understand how some of the titles in the last 4 pages can be listed as hated, maybe disappointing or unable to reach the tumultuous hype, but hated, you guys must have some simply futuristic, insane levels of high standards with your purchased games, or just don’t like the RPG genre full stop.

On the general note of this:
yes, my hate is usually based on disappointment. I knew nothing of Peter Molyneux when "Project Ego" was still in development. All I knew was that he's Lionhead's head, and I loved Black & White, so of course I completely believed the hype (chalk it up to high school naivete, too).
So when I played Fable 1, I was pissed off at how much money I wasted on it. Even while trying to find positives, I found very few. The core story was probably the best thing, everything else sucked or was mediocre
as far as the games you mentioned: If any of these are on Xbox/X360 or require little in regards to computer specs (my laptop is an old piece of crap), I accept your challenge . I tend to look as hard as I can for the best qualities, so chances are, because I was warned these are bad games, I will more likely find things I like because I'm not going in with any expectations.

One RPG I don't think I mentioned before but really REALLY hated was Arc Rise Fantasia for the Wii. The voice acting in that game was SO SO BAD! It was a SIN! It was an ABSOLUTE ABOMINATION! THE WORST WORST WORST voice acting I have EVER heard in a game and that includes games from the 32 bit era before games had big enough budgets to hire talented voice actors.
Worse voice acting in a JRPG.
But there isn't a RPG I haven't hated, well except Spectral Force 3...
IT ****ING SUCK!

Star Ocean: The Last Hope - Some of the worst character designs ever, bar none.
Suikoden IV: The only bad entry in the whole series.
Pretty much any rpg with a high encounter rate.

I'm curious as well. While I feel BG2 is generally overrated, I still think it's pretty good. Though I came pretty close to hatred after I died to Draconis twenty times in a row without hurting him.

1. I had to fart-arse around with the bloody thing to get it to work properly
2. It doesn't uninstall correctly.
3. There's bugger all in terms of character portraits, and the ones you get are shared by a number of characters.
4. It uses a D&D ruleset, and doesn't even try to make things better for those of us who don't know D&D that well (Especially now it's an obsolete ruleset).
5. I've seen weather vanes spinning in circles that have a greater sense of direction.
I don't like it. Simple as.

Oblivion - I liked Morrowind for its setting, but the problem is that I found oblivion's setting just boring - leveling system still sucked, combat was still boring as hell, and I really disliked how they changed up the factions. Quit after like 10 hours
The Witcher - Holy balls, this has to have the most boring combat system I have ever played. It might end up having an awesome story, I sure dont know, but I sure didnt feel like being bored out of my mind for half the game just so i could see a story based on a fantasy pulp novel.
Luckily, it looks like the sequels of those two games are improving the things that I disliked, so I might end up liking those.
As for FFT: Advance, luckily I never played it since I absolutely love FFT and Vagrant Story. Read some reviews of Advance that really put me off. Some good news is that Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together is getting a pretty substantial remake - and looks pretty freakin sweet. Too bad I dont have a psp.

Huh, the technical issues have never been a problem for me, so I'm not sure what I could say to help you there. Sounds like you just had bad luck. as for portraits, if there wasn't one you liked for your character you could probably find one or several online. And the Ruleset does take some getting used to potentially, but well, that is going to be a personal prefrence. i love it, but well, geek.OnlyShallow89 wrote...

Yeah the characters could be dense about getting from point a to be couldn't they. I whacked my head against the desk more than once.
