I noticed the Platinum edition on sale at Steam and was thinking of getting it for SoZ (I have the OC and MotB standalone).  But I have a few questions first:

1) Noticed that I could buy SoZ (and MoW) on the Atari website for cheaper (without that extended download charge) but then I was concerned about if my computer ever crashed or I got a new one how would I install the game again.  Is it possible to backup the setup/installation files to disc if I buy a digital download?  Knowing that I still have the original NWN on my computer, NWN2 won't be going away anytime soon, either.

2) If I download the Steam version, is it going to recognize the existing NWN2 installation I have or will it install a whole brand new self into the Steam directory....meaning I'll need to figure out how to transfer all my savegames, mods and configuration into the Steam version, if I am to use SoZ?  Or vice-versa, can I use my existing install and get it to recognize I have SoZ on Steam?

I would recommend a complete removal and fresh install. Before removing NWN 2, make a copy of your Neverwinter Nights 2 folder in Documents (My Documents)\\Atari\\ to a safe place. The directory is where your saved games and override folders should be as well as any custom content, unless you are using custom content that modifies the the Neverwinter Nights 2 folders in C:\\Program Files\\Atari\\Neverwinter Nights 2 subfolders.



For installation, follow Steams requirements, but I also recommend reading the following, especially since there is undocumented (not included in documentation) information for installing digital download versions of NWN 2:

I used to have access to digital downloads that I had purchased from the Atari website for NWN2 and NWN original but I have not been able to find any of it lately. Anyone know why, or where I could maybe get access again?
