Your decisions caused all this, Bioware. I know your DLC's every secret...

So, yeah, I wasn't done with this project.  Just really, really burnt-out on ME2 after playing through the same things over and over and over and over with different Sheps and different choices just to try and trigger this or that line.  But, I've put it off long enough.

Anyway....not a lot to add on this one.  Mainly, it's about the same-sex stuff w/FemShep at the end.  You actually can see those in-game by doing the gender-switch save-hack thing, but it's a pain and I wasn't about to do all that for three different romances, so audio files and screencaps it is.  Besides, someone else already did it.  I just included the dialogue for completeness' sake.  Here they are in-game and fully animated, if you're interested:

Jack+Femshep:

Miranda+Femshep:

Tali+Femshep: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BksTbUqFys

As I noted in the vid, there is NO same-sex dialogue for MShep in Lair, just in case you missed that bit.

Now I gotta go update my sig again.  Dammit.

Why are all the unused dialouge better than the one in game? Why? Oh Why Bioware?

Cool! Thanks, didymos.

I like the "I can't promise you that." better than we're all going to die

Agreed.  I also like that Shepard mentions that the two met at a Prothean dig site.  I wish that was kept :(

The Tali one was really nice. I stumbled onto the Jack+FemShep one when I altered my play through to make Jack's character consistent with the bisexual statement she makes earlier in the game.

What I found weird is that they recorded all that new stuff for starting the Lair mission sequence off...and then they just used the rather lame one they'd recorded ages ago that was found in the original game files. I guess they decided after the fact that they wanted you to go there in person and didn't want to emphasize the "I got it from Cerberus" thing too much (not like everybody didn't bring it up anyway). I still don't get why they did the "Oh hai! ....OK, see ya!" thing though.

Just wanted to add in regards to the same-sex romance audio: I'm thinking it's probably BioWare's way of rolling that they let Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale read the entire romance scripts regardless of whether their respective characters can actually interact romantically with other characters of the same sex. This is supposedly for "convenience" reasons - just for the time of the voice acting; once that's done, they edit the recorded dialog accordingly and decide what's and what's not going into the game.

Then I wonder why the Meer stuff was removed and the Hale stuff was kept.

Indeed, as this sound file from Mass Effect 1 will attest to. :D

Good job on these, didymos; as somebody who ripped the audio from ME2 myself a while back, I know how tedious it can get.

If what I said is indeed the case, then it would explain a lot of things. I honestly can't think of any other reason as to why those specific audio files are present to begin with.

My assumption? They conclude the larger audience majority is male and therefore it is more probable if a same-sex alternation is made. It will be F/F. In other words... fanservice. <_<

In any event it is surprising that the majority of the cut dialogue is better than what was used. Not to mention Bioware seemingly went out of their way to make certain the game was not constantly suspicious of Cerberus.

For the Cerberus bit, it's probably like Didymos said: they were trying to "get away" from Cerberus; which would make sense, considering the Paragon ending of ME2.

But these romances were not a part of the game, so it has nothing to do with f/f 'fanservice'.

Hence why I said 'if a same-sex alternation is made' referencing to modding the file. It is only speculation and seems logical given only that content was saved. We could just as easily conclude it was an overlooked error.

@Benny
That happens every once in a while. Just a forum hiccup. Click on another section, go back and it should correct itself.

I knew I wasn't dreaming when I heard Liara ask about my modded Mirimancing femshep and Hale said the same line Meer does for the Miranda Romance. as always you're amazing Didymos!

Like I said before, Mac said they were already working on LOTSB before ME2 was released. One of the reasons he stated as to why it wasn't on the disc because they weren't happy with it. During that time, they were scrapping the FemShep F/F romances, since there are audio files for them in the main game.

Hmm, one of my main complaints was that Liara doesn't say goodbye when you leave her office. Yet, it seems they just cut it...

Don't forget darko1295, who actually played through Lair for all three f/f romances and posted vids.

On that note: I @#$%ing hate the Kasumi DLC.  The standard ME2 rip tools either:

a. Ignore it (and every other DLC)
b. Crash when trying to rip the only thing I care about: the bloody dialogue.

I finally got at it using a more generic audio extraction tool, but of course it gave every file a name consisting of bunch of numbers instead of the proper one.  That's the one that made me say "OK, screw this.  I'm not touching this crap for a looong time."    Still, better than doing it manually with a hex editor.  No way in hell was I doing that.

I say it's a conspiracy! Keeping Hale's stuff but not Meer's is weird.
