I have just started a adept insanity game. I have obviously recruited Mordin (Zaeed and Kasumi too) and now headed to Purgatory. I have a problem - who to take with me?

Zaeed has squad disruptor
his incisor makes damage vs shields of: 53x0,8x1,25x1,4=74,2
(0,8 squadmates multiplier, 1,25 incisor vs shields multiplier and 1,4 disruptor ammo multiplier)

Kasumi has Area Overload
with 160 damage each 12 sec

(I have hardly any upgrades)

what do you think? who to take with me? (along with Miranda, who is a safe bet for this mission)

I wouldn't worry about enemy shields; they go down very fast anyways. Always remember your squad has to fulfill 3 roles: stripping defenses, CC enemies and eventually kill em.

You already have the Locust; an excellent multi-purpose weapon. Heavy Weapons make short work of all defenses - Grenade Launcher is nice, Avalanche is great and the Arc Projector strips entire rooms with a single shot.

If you take Miranda, you already have someone to insta-strip shields. You might want to consider bringing Jacob; his Pull provides additional CC and (with Mir) instant Warpbombs (very effective shield stripper); Incendiary Ammo adds to CC and killing power as well. A simple yet effective tactic is to put a Singularity in place (choke points preferably) > use weapon to strip shield of one enemy > warp detonate to kill target and to strip nearby enemy defenses > Shep's biotics will do the rest. (no shield stripping squadies needed)

What's your build? (and squadmates') Energy Drain is nice bonus power on Purgatory, Stasis is always awesome and Dominate can be both fun and very effective.

There are many ways to play an Adept, but one shouldn't be obsessed with enemy protection.

Thanks for replying, I was very influenced by your Adept videos!

I go with barrier as bonus power (I have recently finished shotgun engineer playthrough with gsb and it worked like a charm), I really push forward.

I did give myself an AR, dont want to wait till the mid game

On the other hand I'm not going for energy drain as it's a little bit off-lore let's say. And stasis is kind of broken, you can instakill anyone in fact. Dont want to go for game exploits. This makes insanity a lil bit demanding (it really isn't for me any longer, I have beaten game on Insanity with CQC Infiltrator twice, Assault Sentinel and Shotgun Engineer)

ok, my build:

warp 2

singularity 2

throw 1

pull 1

passive 4 nemesis

barrier 1

and I still have to obtain Locust, haven't done the LM for Kasumi yet

Miri (unstable warp 4, overload 1, passive 2), jacob (squad incend.4 pull 2, passive 1), Mordin (incinerate 3, cryo 1, passive 3) Zaeed and Kasumi clear (14 points left)

Thanks Asfaltowy, and Barrier is an excellent bonus power though cooldown can be an issue before researching the cooldown reduction upgrade. If you have an AR (Vindi, Mattock ?) shields are goners very fast.

You can use Stasis for CC only (no fall of death exploiting), this will allow Shep to CC multiple enemies at once (Stasis one, Singularity an other).

Great build, that's how I level my Adept though I always take Bastion (extra duration > extra damage IMHO). You leveled Miranda for Warp bombing and left her Overload at rank 1 (no instant shield stripping possible). You've got a couple of options: Since Mir will be Warp detonating (her Unstable Warp is more powerful than Shep's rank 2) and Shep can set the stage (Singularity and/or Pull) that leaves:
- Zaeed's Disruptor Ammo is nice against shields, he will do decent weapon damage (AR or Incisor SR) and his CS is great for emergencies.
- Kasumi can max Overload to insta-strip multiple enemies and her Shadow Strike is effective against YMIRs (they get distracted and focus on Kasumi, but can't hit her (when she's cloaked))

I would go for Kasumi; there are a couple of situations on Purgatory when you want to kill certain enemies very quickly and the Overload (Kasumi); Pull/Singularity (Shep); and Warp (Miranda) - combo is better than Zaeed's ammo power. Plus there're two YMIRs.

Don't forget HW; there are 3 HW ammo containers on Purgatory!  B)

I have Mattock, but I'm eager to test GPR. Seems to me that stripping defenses is the biggest issue for Adept, and GPR may help me. Or may not. Gonna try that, Mattock is a best though.

I turn on barrier before the fights (blasted animation wears off too quickly <_< ) and sometimes when I'm really low on health and exposed to enemy fire from nearby enemies. I noticed that medigel has a small delay (because of animation) and barrier/gsb comes instantly (I've seen this during my engineer game, but may be wrong).

Yeah I think I will swith to Bastion, I rely heavily on singularity. And will try Statis. But still think it's overpowered, the only one power that staggers enemies with defenses on? Oh I get it, Flashbang has the same. A way to boost sales

Thanks again, will go with Kasumi and Miri! (if only had I decided to go for Garrus first, eh)

P.S. must admit, the final fight at purgatory gives me thrills,it is quite demanding not to get surrounded. that's why they gave us more HW ammo, heh

Mattock is best AR, it can strip shields faster than GPR, but GPR is fully auto and has 40 shot clips (and a huge ammo supply). I like it just for its different feel and handling.

Barrier is great, it always works (even when Shep is stunned by enemy missiles, Pyros, Warp etc) and it's instant (too bad the blue glow disappears so soon, I really like the looks)

Problem with Insanity is the 20% duration penalty (all powers); Bastion counters that effect and Warp is only damage power (using Nemesis' damage bonus). If Warp can insta-strip enemy barriers and armor you're set (you don't need Nemesis). Bastion boosts Singularity, Pull and in your case Barrier > better option I think.

You can complete final fight pretty easy; you'll need to destroy those 3 generators asap (it will stop enemy respam and I really hate it when enemies pop up behind you). I always destroy the one in the middle first, go up the ramp (left) and try to advance to a position to take out last generator while staying out of the Warden's line of sight. Kill remaining goons before dealing with Kuril.

BTW; killing Kuril ends missions. If you can take him out fast, you don't have to kill the rest :)

[edit] Has anyone tried Caining the Warden? I think it oneshots him below level 15 - should make that fight real easy. :D

nah, I want to leave him for the dessert B)

Still, will do some testing now. I really want to give my enemies a taste of biotics :wizard:
