But Ferelden itself is a very minor nation in Thedas, without much influence beyond its own borders. Almost everyone you meet in DAO who is not a native Fereldan comments on how backward and undeveloped Ferelden is compared to everywhere else. Essentially, Ferelden is still stuck in the dark ages while the rest of the world is enjoying the renaissance. Quite literally, the only history of Ferelden worth noting is that its people eventually (after many years) kicked out the Orlesians and there was a minor Blight that ended almost as soon as it began. If you look at the other Blights in history, Ferelden's really was the least destructive and most brief of all of them. The first Blight lasted two centuries.

It's true that we're not playing the Warden in DA2, but fears that Bioware won't reveal the fate of that character are pure speculation at this point.  Even if we never play the Warden again, I don't see why people assume the devs would neglect to give us dialogue or some visual indication of what ultimately happened to him/her.  That sort of thing goes against some pretty basic conventions of good storytelling, and I think the evidence points to them being great storytellers, so...my suggestion is to wait and see what they do before you feel disappointed about it.

The problem with that is that any conclusion to the Warden means telling the players what they did, and that's a huge problem. I don't want Bioware to decide, for example, my Warden gave a **** about the order enough to actually go through with the calling.

He/She would at least have a major impact in Fereldan history. I hope
BioWare implements this in DA2. I know they said you can import
decisions but they make is sound has if they weren't important ones to
me.

The Warden practically changed the land. Even though it's
just Ferelden they should have a greater impact on Thedas.

The Warden ended a Blight in 2 years instead of 2 decades. That's pretty significant. Ferelden was hurt by a blight but survived intact as a kingdom. Derenim was damaged by the darkspawn, but huge areas of the country were saved, including (for example) Amaranthine. Obviously things changed in Awakening, but the the reality of the situation is that a blight that could have affected all of Thedas didn't.

That's going to be the most dramatic thing the Warden could possibly ever do. Failing to stop the Blight would have changed the world forever.

The problem is that the Warden is a status quo hero. Victory meant keeping everything the same.

hahahaha. Good one miss lovey dovey!

But yeah the poster does have a point in that other nations do look down on the hound loving fereldans. But that doesnt make them minor, i agree with snape. After the defeat and the events of awakening, i daresay fereldan will keep gaining respect among other nations.

Western fantasy tends to like status quo heroes. This is why I dislike western fantasy.

indeed, hard though it may be to see, the warden did an incredible thing, but as pointed out there's not much more a sequel could do while following the warden that would top that and be fun to play (a simulation of ruling/advising/travelling around enjoying oneself without a clear goal/whatever) would be fun, but not really in the style they've set, I'll be happy imagining my warden getting up to those things in the background/mean time while DA2 is on in the foreground

Well, as it is possible for the warden to die, I would say yes, that story is over. I don't know about other people but I would be pretty freaked out to hear the adventures of the zombie warden. Basically what I'm trying to say is that in order for there to be another game with the Dragon Age Origins warden Bioware shouldn't have given the opportunity of ultimate sacrafice

Morrigan saying something about her love dying wherever they went (if your warden romanced her and went with her) and references to the Ferelden Blight will probably be the closest we'll get to more Warden in the future.

I don't think many people outside of Ferelden know who the Hero of Ferelden even is.

Um, is there some problem with wanting more Warden *and* looking forward to DA II? I like my awesome mage-tank, but I can't wait to get some swordstaff action going.

I gotta say, I think my Warden's deserve a break. Maybe DA3 for a return.
