Yeah, I have always played ME, and ME2 with squad on auto-pilot... (XBox 360 user)
I just wanted to blast through the levels as "THE SHEP"; doing it all myself with the squad hanging around applauding my awsomeness.:D
Until last night...
I turned off squad power use and dang... by putting 1 power for each squad mate on the D-pad the game play really changed. Far more tactical, and very deadly .  I blazed through the escape, horizon, and Mordin recruitment so easily that I stopped twice to see if I had accidently changed to Easy..(nope still Veteran).  Now I am thinking of doing a complete run at hardcore with squad power off.

Questions:
Would an Adept with Stasis as a bonus power be viable for a first run this way? Other good classes for a first time "micro manager"?
Any ideas, builds, weapon loadouts etc are welcome.

The Adept with Stasis is fine,

oh, saw Veteran. You can also consider Slam or an Ammo power. Warp Ammo has a nice synergy.

Adept with Statis works great, no doubt about it. Adept overall is probably the class that relies on synergy with your squadmates the most since you a) have to strip defenses with them and B) build up biotic combos. Micromanagment makes both those things much easier.

As for your squad, you want people that mainly are good for stripping defenses. The Adept class is incredibly good on both CC and damage once the foes are on HP only. If you keep that in mind you should do just fine.

Cheers.

On Hardcore and Insanity all enemies will have shields, barriers or armor (or a combination). This limits biotic powers effectiveness. Singularity works against (almost) all enemies with defenses as does Stasis, one of the best bonus powers for Adept on Insanity. Use guns, heavy weapons and squadmate powers to deal with defenses so Shep's biotic powers can do their destructive job.

You definitely want to manage squad power usage playing Adept; if you can combine using your weapons, powers and squadmates harmonious, Adepts can be deadly. Check my sig if you're looking for some Adept videos :)

I used to actually play with squad power use on for added difficulty, since then I'd have to work my tactics around squadmates' independent behavior. Stopped doing this when I started my adept + engineer runs though, as things got kinda stupid... the caster classes really need the squad power use turned off, especially from Hardcore and on, imo.
