Gee I don't know, maybe ground forces will attack Reaper groubd forces and in the battle some Shepard get's into Harbinger and does something to destroy him and weaken other Reapers.

There is dramatic coincidence and then there is Sovereign's shields dropping the second you killed Saren. If destroying the avatar doesn't effect the reapers then why would Harbinger even bother to release control over the Collector General right before it got destroyed? Why would he have a cool down on controlling collectors? Why wouldn't he just mass control every collector?

Never though of that.

If ships are unable to take down reaper shields, than you can never get inside one.

You must first disable its shields in order to board it, and if you are going to disable its shields, just deliver a kill shot already.

Proof= Derelect Reaper mission says ships cant get through their shields.
And no armor can withstand a slug shot from a magnetic accelerator cannon. there is just too much energy. once shields are down, it is dead.

Shepard can get some technology to put in Hammerhead( or some other vehicle in ME3) so it can pass through shields and get inside.
It can happen otherwise liberation of Earth will be just Metal Gear Solid long cutscene or RTS and I doubt Bioware knows how to create RTS, especially on engine they will use.

Well, I cant argue with magic... This is pointless really. They are literally making **** up as they go and they never use it to its fullest potential.
Why not use every Reaper to control every collector? Wait, they would actually win then... Why not just make a bunch of Sarens? Wait, they would win then...
How are they even being remote controlled? How do they get power boosts for being remote controlled? It makes no sense outside of magic...

Also if they made Reapers that strong then pretty much ME3 will have 1 ending.

Or you could just see that the Reapers are, despite their hype, a really crappy force. Vigil said in ME1, the council fleet would utterly destroy sovereign if they knew he was coming, it took the Reapers, with indoctrination and the Citadel suprise attack several centuries to wipe out the Protheans, they have to use the Cidatel suprise attack to gain the upper hand over the people who they're invading since apparently they suck so bad that flying back and invading from the outskirts of space is too risky despite it being only like 3 relay jumps from the Citadel, the entire fleet with the exception of one vangaurd goes into hibernation in Dark space they don't even leave people to guard them. The Reapers just all around suck as a whole. Beyond their advanced tech they're really, really crappy.

Well, how do you supose they can transfer the energy to a Collector when they take direct remote control? if the energy is there already, why dont all collectors use it all the time? why not just tranfer the enrgy into sheps brain to fry him? if collectors are not smart enough, just write better programming.

So, are they just stupid or is it magic? You pick.

Except that's not what you've been saying at all. You've been saying that ground forces are useless because the Reapers are this big impossible to kill force who has no need for ground forces...etc.

I'm saying that they do need ground forces because well...THEY SUCK.

As a gamer who played a lot of RTS game, I concluded that most powerful units always have huge weakness.
Reapers must have some limitation with their mind control. Also let me make example with Death Star. That thing can destroy planets and heavy battleship just like that while simple fighter can destroy it.
Why?
It's very small and maneuverable while huge stuff is always slow and not very maneuverable.

And who knows how much energy has to spend to destroy planet?
So what if Reapers need high amount of concetration, energy, whatever to control just one body with modification of host for that?

Oops, must have been a different thread i made that argument...

and also, your logic is sound here. Reapers are dumb enough to make using ground forces against them actualy viable... They shouldnt be, but they will be made so...

I don't think Reapers are morons, but they need ground forces since they can be exposed against small forces.

They've been made so since ME1. Vigil makes it perfectly clear that the only reason the Reapers have been doing this for so long is because of the Citadel suprise attack.

You are right, that was just for the Krogan argument. Lets now discuss all the possibilities of keeping the collector base and how it was bad for Paragons to blow it up. There is no way that will derail this thread :P

Quarians could actually make really good cannon fodder. They will be very important to recruit as shields to protect all the other races.

I still say the geth are the most important though. Even the peaceful Geth will have a considerable fleet. They built one to protect themselves from the rest of the galaxy. They would never dismantle it. It probably could take on the Citadel fleet easy. If they didnt waste resources on their super computer, they could probably take over the galaxy, oh well.

If they can build a dyson sphere in 300 years, then they are gods. They could wish away the Reapers with their raw computing power. [and that is not an exageration either, they really could affect reality with that much power...]

My god, does nobody listen to Mordin? The Collector have cybernetic implants like Seran had. That's how they are controlled. It would be impossible for the Reapers to direct that energy into Shepard.

This.

It is also how the Reapers were controlling Paul Grayson in Mass Effect: Retribution. TIM implanted Grayson with Reaper tech.

I know how they are controlled. The question is how their super powers get there. you cant beam super powers over a quantum entangelemnt link. Actually, no energy can be transfered over it, only information.

We came to the conculsion that the Reapers were dumb and only let one Collector use its super powers at a time for gameplay purposes.

You need ground forces and their is nothing better than a krogan.

You ask why?

Play Me1 and Me2 listen to all codex entries listen to every sentence that Handels space combat

the answers are in the game.

If you dont have time:

That means a many guns are station on earth that watch toward space.

Earth is no hippy colony that gives flowers to the OpFor.

A space to surface bombardment(SSB) is impossible(forbidden by council law(Newton you S.O.B)) even after they landed and they do.

You are their to safe earth and NOT to blow the **** out of it.

See the Hope colony mission where you have to defend the Gardian Laiser, on earth we will have maybe some REALY BIG B.F.G´s.The repas are not stupid the will take humans to change them into slaves and they dont wont to lose ships.

This guns will be used ether by humans if protected or by rouge humans/agents/husks/collector remands to kill the BlueFor fleet.

You have to protect some how the civilians, give theme time to escape,to denie the OpFor their resources(we are nothing more) earth is not earth when their is no human hippy searching for flowers and peace.

The fight will be handled in space, on ground in our minds.

Well... lets have a massive drop pod.  Refit it with heavy armour, mass effect shields and have the front with a powerful drill.   Then call it a boarding torpedo.  Fill it up with Krogans and fire them at the Reaper vessels!  Not one but an entire salvo of boarding torpedos!  It will latched on the Reaper vessel, drill a hole to the interior and the Krogans can initiate boarding action within a reaper!
