Same here. I really hope that I don't have to buy ME2 to make this work :'(

I will let you know what happens after his site is back up.

I had to fiddle with it, but I got mine to work. I went into Documents/ and created a BioWare/ File. Then I created a Mass Effect 2/ file in the BioWare/ file. Then a Save/ file inside that. Then I made a file for my save "John_12_Soldier_290112" and dropped my save "Save_0133.pcsave" into that. (I had to rename it from "SaveExport.pcsav").

I'm technically lvl 30 so I didn't understand why other people were telling me to change the 30 to 12. I turns out that ME3 reads that as your backstory. 1 was Spacer, and 2 was War Hero. The 0 in "30" was an invalid number so the game could not recognize it.

This worked for me anyway.
Good luck

Managed to sneak in before the site died again and got my file, but now ME3 isn't seeing it.

I made the folder in the save part for the name Riffy_22_Adept_250610 I got from modio but still nothing, I must be missing something.

Oh crap seems I ported over my save from before the end, so it's not finding it cause it's not finished. Well changed the flag in the saved game and found it. So I got to wait another hour for the site to come back up.

I keep missing the site too. I am trying to check it every half hour to hour with no luck. I had it up once and when I hit the upload button I got the Warning Message screen lol.

Thanks, I renamed it and it recognized my save correctly!  Now I can play it!

I'm running into a problem when I try to load my save which I converted from Xbox to PC. I purchased every DLC pack for PC (with the exception of Arrival, which I didn't own on Xbox) so that I would run into no problems trying to load my game on PC. Before I did this, I could find the save and click it, but "Load" did nothing, as other people have reported. AFTER getting all the DLC and installing it, I get a message that says it can't load my save because I don't have the required DLC (it proceeds to list all the DLC I had on Xbox). What gives? I only get this message AFTER having bought all the DLC and installed it all.

ME2 is installed on a second HDD (drive D), and I had no options to choose the directory for the DLC... Is it possible it installed somewhere else? I can see the DLC files extracted into the BioGame/DLC directory on drive D however. I was just wondering if that had something to do with it. Any solution would be helpful so I can play my save.

Additionally, Legion you should consider getting a "donate" button or something for your web app. I think most of us would justify sending $1 - 5 your way for making this thing - it definitely has high utility.

If I understood mkirby correctly I'm having the exact same problem he is, but since everyone seems to be ignoring it I'm going to bring it up. I played through ME1 and ME2 on my PC, but now I have xbox and my PC wouldn't support ME3 anyway, so I'd like to play ME3 on my xbox. Naturally I'd like to play it as soon as possible and the experience wouldn't be the same without my past saves. I converted my pc save into SaveExport.xbsav but I can't open it with modio, whenever I try opening it just says "can't open the file, invalid package error". Because of that I can't insert those saves to my flash and transport it to my xbox. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

 I own Mass Effect 1 for Xbox, 2 for PC, and now 3 for Xbox.

When playing ME2 on PC, I just downloaded a save that had attributes to my liking to make it easier, and I wasn't aware it was possible to move saves from Xbox to PC (It may not have been at that time). Now, I'm wanting to move my ME2 saved game back to my Xbox so I can import it into Mass Effect 3, which I just bought.

I have never had a Mass Effect 2 disc in my Xbox 360.

I used your legion site thing to upload my save (Save_0026.pcsav), and then downloaded it again as an xbox save (SaveExport.xbsav).

As this post recommends, I downloaded Modio 4 Beta.  However, when I try and open the SaveExport.xbsav (or renamed to Save_0026.xbsav), I get an error saying "There was an error when attempting to open your save, Invalid Xbox Package." I'm really not entirely sure what I'm doing at this point.  Anyone able to help me out with this?  I'll be reading through this entire thread probably to see if someone has had problems in the past that might help me figure it out.

EDIT:  So it looks like my best bet is to borrow a friends ME2 disc, put it in the xbox, start a new game, make a save, then take that save and put it on my flash drive (it'll copy a bunch of other stuff also maybe, idk exactly), then change the single save file into the one I have on my PC?  Can someone confirm/deny if I'm on the right track with that?  Now just to see which of my friends nearby have ME2 for 360.

I'm having an issue. I had Mass Effect 1 & 2 on the Xbox but now I want to play the 3rd on PC. I own the 3rd on PC so I followed the instructions in the link below to transfer my saves to from Xbox to PC. I followed everything to the letter however when I go to import a character in ME3 nothing shows up. Can anyone think of what might be wrong?
http://www.gamefront...xbox-360-to-pc/

Edit*: I don't have ME1 or 2 on my PC so I just created the folders as instructed in that link.  Is there somewhere specific I should place my save file for ME3 to detect it?  Also, the save file I tried to transfer was an Auto Save.  Does that affect it?

TO EVERYONE WONDERING ABOUT WHICH VERSION OF MODIO TO USE..... you have to use version 3 (I used caps to get your attention lol). Do a google search for it and you find many other places from which to download Modio 3 without having to log in anywhere.

Also, I am one of the many people attempting to convert a PC ME2 file into an Xbox 360 file, and I think I figured out how to do it, I am just waiting for my copy of ME3 for Xbox to arrive so I can confirm that what I did works.

First, I got ahold of an Xbox copy of ME2 (I was lucky that a friend had it). I created a new save on the Xbox, and then moved that save over to a USB thumb drive that I converted to Xbox format (FAT32). Next, I plugged the USB drive with my new Xbox file on it into my computer, and used Modio 3 on it by selecting the option "Open from device" that appears in the main menu. I selected the USB drive and clicked through the following screens that select which profile to open (there should be only one to choose on each screen). After this, another Modio menu appears with your save game details. From there, click on the blue tab labelled "File Contents" or something like that and you should see three files (an autosave, a chapter save, and a Save_0001 file). Right-click anywhere in the white area of the box and you should see the option to "inject" a file. Click that option and choose the file that you converted using Epic Legion's tool. Once this is done, click on the other blue tab at the top of the modio screen (can't remember what it is called), click "rehash and resign", then click "save to device".

Once all of these steps are done, eject the USB drive from your computer and plug it into your xbox again, and move the save file back over to your xbox. Then, start up ME2 on the xbox and you should see your save file in the "load save" menu.

Again, I will stress that I don't know if this works fully yet, because the file won't load on my xbox (I think this is because I owned DLC on PC that I don't have on Xbox). But, it is a start at least, because you can scroll to the save file and details like play time and the characters first name and last in-game location are viewable. Hope this helps, sorry for the long post.

you have to use place it in a container, there is one graciously provided in the following link
social.bioware.com/project/4373/#files .
So....
1. Convert your PC save. I followed the save filename format just to be sure eg. Save_0001.xbsav.
2. Open the container downloaded from Pordis Shepard's profile.
3. Open the container using latest stable version of Modio, (not beta).
4. Drag and drop your converted file to the window with container contents.
  --> configure thumb drive for xbox
5. Save the container to the configured device
6. Plug the device to xbox.
7. Continue your career to ME3.

BTW, I didn't use ME2 for xbox.
I hope it works for you.  I got lucky and did it right the first time.:alien:

PS.. Props to all the great apps and to the people of the community.

Whenever I go to open up Gibbed's Save Editor I download it and then click open and it comes up saying "Gibbed's Save Editor has stopped working" almost immediately. I'm using Windows 7 - anyone have any idea how to get it going?

Hi, anybody who is considering doing what I said above (page 3 or 4) - I've just done it - I had to buy ME2 on the Xbox 360 to create the save game but everything else was done exactly as I said - I had to create the facial structure again and confirm vanguard etc. but apart from that it took about 3 minutes total - really chuffed; imported my 68hours worth of ME2 game time on the PC without blinking - thanks again Epic!

I transferred my save from 360 to PC sadly my save wont open. I believe this is due to the fact that I had all the dlc's on 360 but not on pc.

I'm hoping that ME3 will take the save and import it without me having to buy the DLC for pc.

Can anyone confirm if a 360 - PC transfer can work without all dlc that the 360 had.

cheers

Hi all,

I have the same query as above. Could someone confirm whether you need to have the corresponding dlc when importing a 360 ME2 save into PC ME3?

Sorry, I know this has been asked a few times already but I can't see a definitive answer anywhere!

Thanks in advance.

Quick question: Is there a way to transfer Achievements over? Or somehow trigger them with a save profile? For example, I transferred over my Shepard that did an Insanity playthrough, etc and I was hoping loading him up on the PC would unlock the achievement for it on Steam. No such luck though.

So, I'm wondering if there is a way to trigger Achievements and have them unlocked for you? Or do you basically HAVE to play through the game to unlock them again?

It worked for me! I played through ME 1&2 on PC and wanted to play ME 3 on xbox. I read the entire thread and tried several suggestions but Ifontokna's suggestion above is what finally worked.

Since you can take this converted file straight to ME 3, this gets around all of the DLC problems that people have mentioned by trying to open it with ME 2 on an xbox without the DLC.

Huge thanks to Legion for the great program and all the helpful people in the bioware community message boards!

If this is a completely clean usb without having any saves at all on it you need to get some profile structure on it.
Since you already have me3 xbox the easiest way to get the proper structure is to start me3 (a throwaway game) and save a game to the usb while it is plugged in.  (If you can't save to it then move the hdd save to it afterwards.)

Then in modio explore device (or similar in usbxtaf), you should see some structure like this:
Content
|
--> E0000xxxxxxx <- your profile ID
      |
       -->4541095D  <-- Mass Effect 3 game ID
            |
            --> 00000001 <-- game saves
      |
       -->454108CE  <-- Mass Effect 2 game ID
            |
            --> 00000001 <-- game saves
                 |
                   John_32_Soldier_060312 <-- the game saves here
                   Jane_12_Infiltrator_060312

Now create the me2 directory (454108ce) under your profile like the me3 one. Under that create 00000001 and put your career container in there.*

*Note:  I'm not certain, but you may have to enter your profile ID into the career when you have it open in Modio, although I'm pretty sure I've loaded one in me2 at least without this.  It might get corrected to your profile when you copy it to the hdd.
