America is what 500 years old...if you go all the way back to it's discovery?

Discovery by  Western Europeans you mean. Humans discovered the Americas many thousands of years ago. Euro-centric points of view often tend to forget or overlook that, though.

You aren't answering the question. What part of the game "transcribe sevents as we know them with different cultures and races" ?

Because honestly, the Daish background has sweet dick-all to do with American history if you ask me. If one wanted to draw parallels it is much more similar to the way tribes in Gaul were treated by the Romans

Ok, what I should have said here is that the writers took on some universal subject matter, but were kinda lazy but making it so easilly correspond to modern day. A writer's job is one of creativity, not to transcribe events as we know them with different cultures and races...I just think it's lazy writing.

And they didn't?  Yes, Elves were slaves and they suffer injustices that slaves are known to have suffered.  How do you jump to "the writers are just copying real world events and changing the names" from there?

Read some more codex entries perhaps, it explains far more about the history and backdrop of the world than the dialogue.

I'm a writer, and everything you said is wrong.

Lazy writing is lazy writing. Universal concepts are... well, universal. Don't call it lame because it's common.

Please though, continue to bring your own real world bigotry into the game world. Everything must be a social commentary these days.

First bit of dialogue that yanked me out of the game actually. Otherwise I'm really happy with the writing.

You have a very different idea of the meaning of "lazy writing" than I do, apparently.  Transcribing events?  You mean exploring human nature (both good and evil aspects) by presenting them through the viewpoints of alien cultures?  That is the basis of speculative fiction, I believe.  I suppose one could argue that elves are not "alien enough" to present enough of a contrast to humans, and that is "lazy writing."  But I don't think that is what you are doing here.

Why does everything have to be about America, Draelorn? ;)

Do you not think similar things happened elsewhere in the world as well?

Why do you draw such paralells? Why not enjoy the fantasy-world for what it is instead of bringing America/real world in the mix?

And don't go tooting our American horn. (I am american to).

I am personaly getting fed up with taking all the BS from the rest of the world because our leaders are such AHoles!

And 70% of the Americans that go to other countries act like AHoles and treat people in there home lands like we are better then them.

I expect people who live and come to America to speak English & Like wise if I goto a Foriegn Country I expect myself to speak there language or make an attempt to! That has always Pissed me off about out country, we are not better then anyone else, sometimes we are a lot WORSE!

I still have no clue what you are referring to. I'm not an american, so maybe you're just projecting yourself into an implied relationship?

Slavery and oppresion are not unique to America by the way. EVERYONE was doing it at the same time. Probably even on a greater scale, the difference was what they did after slavery (I think most Scandinavian countries executed the former slaves, but I can't be entirely sure about that. America was progressive in that they became citizens. Sub-citizens, maybe, but still citizens, which is better than being murdered for being a person of different color.)

At least, that was what I recall from history. I could be wrong.

It was my mistake for posting this here. Unless you know of the part I'm talking about it's kinda pointless either way. What I had a problem with is way too specific for this forum. Sorry about that

Umm the United States was made a country in 1776, by my math thats less then 250 years, 233 to be exact.  I'm curious as to where you got the 500 from.

They also have a caste system with obvious imbalances in wealth distribution.  What could the writers be trying to tell us rhetorically?

No, the problem was the fact that you didn't actually write anything concerning your problem, just a bunch of anger-fueled words.

Slavery was not only about color. There was slavery before the slave trade from Africa.

Jewish, Asian, Poor it was all over in the Ancient world. The weaker became slaves, Conquered Clans, Peoples, Religions, Tribes all became slaves in some cultures. And it still goes on today, Solmalia, Afghanistan, Asia, Hookers, Gangs. Its just hidden better.
