Posted ImagePosted ImageI'm using this video as a source for this discussion.  At 0:51, the mage schools are visible.

We can't see much, but it appears that Crushing Prison (and probably Mind Blast) have been relocated to the Arcane school.  Meanwhile, Spirit Bolt is a separate tree altogether, which confounds me a bit.

And for Pete's sake, can anyone tell if each primal element gets its own tree or are they grouped?  Looking at the size of those webs, I reckon each element will be getting its own tree.  So where does that leave room for Entropy and Creation?  I suppose it's possible that what we see here isn't complete, but it's all we have to go on at the moment and I've been wondering about this for ages.
Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImageAlso, I can't read russian, so if anybody can your help is much appreciated.  At least, I think it's russian.

It's probably a retooling of the Focus & Spirit trees, because of the Force Mage spec

very interesting!!

I'm interested in knowing about this too.

not just the mage part, but also the Warrior talents. I'm still trying to determine if Charge is a 2h weapon only talent, or a universal warrior talent. It would seem it is based on this video, but I can't be for sure cuz I read russian either......lol.

also, I don't know what point in the story this is............but the party consists of both Bethany AND Carver!!

That was just the demo build, which always had all three siblings together.

The early (non-Varric enhanced) part when the family is running away from Lothering (but obviously before one of the siblings goes squish!)

We saw a glyph spell in the combat walk through video. That confirms at least one creation spell made the cut. I would be surprised if healing went away too, considering spirit healer is a confirmed specialization. It is possible spells were shuffled around as noted previously.

It's interesting that Crushing Prison now only requires one prerequisite spell. With all the cooldowns being reduced compared to DA:O, I might try an entire run using nothing but CP!

also if u watch the combat walkthrough vid u'll c the icons for glyph of paralysis, and one that looks like another glyph and the other looks like it could be a heal. Interesting to note the icons are green. Perhaps this indicates they are spells that belong to the nature/creation school of magic.

Okay, I think that the bottom left mage school is the Spirit web. We see Spirit Bolt, obviously, but if you compare it with the gameplay video and the spells we see in Bethany's quickbar, it could be that: the hexagon is Death Syphon, One of the diamonds is Dispel Magic (there's one with the hand symbol in the video color-coded purple), and the other diamond must be Walking Bomb. That implies that they cut the Mana Drain chain (which doesn't surprise me, as it was a tad overpowered) and the Mind Blast line was moved to the Arcane Tree. All in all, that doesn't seem too bad to me.Posted ImagePosted ImageOh, and google trasnlator's translation from english to russian of "Spirit" looks the same as that web title to me.

Am I the only one wondering who the rogue at the end is?

I'm pretty sure that's a Hawke that somebody created themselves. And she is darn creepy.

Posted ImagePosted ImageI thought that too.

The only thing I'm worried about is how they're fitting everything in.  At least one of those webs has got to be Creation since we know Heal and Glyph of Paralysis is in (okay, we don't techinically know that Heal itself is in, but I'm almost positive that's what the spell with the cross is).  Where do all of the elements fit in?  Do they get their own trees or are they fit in with eachother?  If they're all in one tree, say, with fire, that would mean there's about one spell per element. If you really look at the trees, I don't think one is primal-there just isn't enough room.

At this point, I'm really hoping that this is an incomplete build and mages get more than six trees.  I know they probably don't, but I don't want my options to be cut down too much.

hmm. maybe one tree is say creation/nature magic ie glyphs heals buffs, and swarms. The other is spirit/entropy. Then one tree for each of the elements condering that peters gameplay thread mentioned that they wanted to make elemental powers more unique and with secondary effects?

Or maybe creation and earth is mixed together(in origins swarm stonefist etc had the same green burst when cast), leaving trees for fire, ice, lightning, spirit and arcane?

There is a release plan for information, and I can't really step outside the bounds of that. Some things I can clarify, though.

I never said that each element had its own tree, just that we were trying to make the elements distinctive.

There are 6 basic Mage trees, plus specializations. The ones for Bethany looked right, though I can't read Russian, and some of the layouts have changed since then.

Also, some people in this thread have deduced a lot more than we've explicitly stated. This has happened in a bunch of other threads too, but the people tend to get shouted down or lost in the noise. And no, I can't say which.

While this comment isn't going to really contribute to anything, I love seeing the webs and what I was thinking with how all classes had about the same amount of skills. Looks like they're way more options for all kinds of builds. *sniffles* Im so haappy.

I can read Russian! I just don't know what it's saying...:pinched:

Seriously, I taught myself how to read Russian, so I could pronounce what it says, but it would be jibberish to me because I don't know very many words. I'll see if I can find any cognates, though.

I'd prefer fewer trees with more depth. Also, I'd like to see warriors and rogues get the same variety in choices.
