Basically as the title suggest, my problem is that I placed in my username and password which I used to get on the BioWare Community (And now the Social Network) and it says
Authorizing playername
Error on playername
Error: Invalid username or password
So I though perhapes with NWN2 I had to recreate my BioWare account so I set it up again at which point it tells me, that my name is already a registered account name and email (Which is because I use it)
So I decided maybe I would go back to the old NWN2 Forums login and see if it worked, and it did its just the platinum edition that does not and seems that it won't. Can anyone help me out with this, I would love to play on some of the persistant worlds and maybe try my hand at making one sometime.
Thank you for your time,
Setch Dreskar

Hm, I think I had a similar problem. Oddly enough the fix made very little sense. I attempted to log into BioWare via the in game login screen. It gave me the same error you are receiving. So just for hoots I attempted to create a new account via the in game account creation option, but instead of entering new information I entered the same bioware login/pass/email I had already created. It gave me an error telling me that my username already exists... So I tried logging in again using this existing account and it worked. I have no idea why this worked. My girlfriend was experiencing the EXACT problem, so I attempted the same fix and it worked again. Perhaps its just a way of reminding BioWare that your accounts actually exists.

I cannot get in either. I could have sworn I registered my name as yo.ian.g, not yoiang. I've tried both logins, getting this error, couldn't get Jkahler's fix to work

Same I tried what Jkahler had said, it doesn't work for me. I also noticed the password length required was different so I changed my password in order to meet the game's reqs and then retried again, still does not work.

Also having this problem. Kind of annoyed, since I just re-bought the game on steam even though I already owned the first two installments.
Edit: I ended up just making a new account, which seems to be working for now though I haven't entered into anything yet. Frustrating though - I wanted to make sure it was linked to this account, but now that I look I don't even see anywhere to put NWN2 cd keys anymore.

What a major bummer this is... As I said before, I have no idea why my fix worked. I should note that initially I was having an even more frustrating problem involving my cd keys not being recognized. I had to create a nwncdkey.ini in my nwn2 folder before I could even have the enjoyment of the error you guys are discussing. After I made the .ini file my cd key was never requested in game.. which I find strange.
I suppose I would attempt SendingSignal's method of creating an entirely new account, which means you would probably have to make a new email address to go with it.
I find all of this entirely annoying. Steam usually makes things much easier than this... I hope these issues are fixed for you guys.

so this forum is entirely self help? Bioware does not peruse these parts?

I would assume not so we should probably bring this problem up to them, POLITELY, as it seems to be a major bug problem not just a small minor thing the community can help solve.

BioWare has nothing to do with NWN 2 beyond hosting the NWN 2 forums. The developer is Obsidian Entertainment and the Publisher is Atari
As to what is happening with the Platinum version, I haven't a clue except to suggest a re-install following the steps provided in:
Post 4: Installing NWN 2 topic for installing NWN 2 and subsequent expansion packs.
Post 5: On Removing NWN 2 for removing NWN 2.

so this is my EA-linked (barf) Bioware (yay!) community account.
NWN 2 Platinum Steam Edition requires you to log in with your bioware community account and it states this in no uncertain terms.
I created a new account... named onezerothree under the same e-mail address, making it impossible for me to log in to it here on the forums... and it worked!

I have this same problem. Have a valid bioware community account linked to Mass Effect etc, I have registered the platinum CDKEYs on this account all OK, yet I can't login using the same credentials, oh, and I can't seem to create a new account because the email address is already used for this current acount - great....
This obviously needs a fix somewhere?

Okay, I have bought this game on steam as well. I have made a ticket on Atari and no answer. What a big disappointment. (Yet again) I spent my hard earned money on a game that is not working. Here I thought Infinity Ward and Treyarch would be the only ones screwing people of money. I guess greed comes from everywhere though.

They even write the game is recommended to be played on Windows XP and Windows 7.
Anyone selling a game for Windows 7 have to support both 32-bit and 64-bit.
I'm honestly getting tired of Steam, I've bought alot of games through them, but lately all I can find in their shop are indie games. And Steam are very slow to respond on e-mails.
If someone come up with another tool to buy games through I will be happy to move out from Steam.

I'm having this problem too, tried working around it but it seems like the only good way to fix this would be by creating a completely separate account. However that is pretty stupid, when you buy a product it should be working.
Hopefully whomever is responsible for NW2 as of now (be it Atari, Obsidian or BioWare) someone should at least attempt to fix this problem.

Sigh. There is no "problem" to correct here people.
Create a new account. Problem solved.
This has nothing to do with your BSN id or ME or anything like that. It's a separate system.

Then why am I getting an error about my account name already existing, when I try to create a new one with the same name as my Bioware account?

I get the same problem. I created a Bioware Community Account way back in the day. I have merged it with my BioWare Social account and EA Master Account. It is clearly called LtBashkar, though I can also log-in with my e-mail. Attempting to use the E-Mail or Account Name with the correct password to log-in within Neverwinter Nights 2, even with the cd-keys registered in the BioWare Community Account, does not work.

Again... nothing to do with your BSN account.
When you get to your login screen in game, choose Create New Account (or whatever it's called) and make something different from what you've already made, using a different email address.
You'll get in.

i wonder ... I wonder, could having an account at BSN conflict with having the same account at the old forums, which then prevents logging into Gamespy?
in any case, 2nd DM's advice!

I would suggest following NWN DM's advice as well as there were sometimes issues with accounts even on the old BioBoards site and were quickly cleared up when a new account was created from within the game. Registering through the game creates an account on the BioBoards servers and is unrelated to your account on the BioWare Social site.
