Cannot login to NWN2 Platinum Edition Multiplayer

I am able to login fine to the "old" NWN2 forums and these new ones. I did notice these new forums have a "Register Game" spot, but it knows nothing about NWN2 and only knows Mass Effect and Dragon Age.
For NWN2 technical support, there's a big button on the left menu bar when you first come to the "old" NWN2 forums (which are still linked throughout the game and elsewhere): http://www.atari.com/support/atari, but there is no entry for "Never Winter Nights 2: Platinum Edition", so perhaps we're unsupported?

Create a New Account from within the MP login screen. Don't use the same id you've had in the past, or the same email address.
This has always worked going back several years, dating back to before the move to the BSN site.

NWN2 is not an EA product. No reason EA should support it.
Repeated advice has been provided as to how to get around this... advice which, since this issue arose, has been tested as successful my many different people. This is also a fix that worked with the original NWN by BioWare.
That the NWN2 boards are here at all, in fact speaks volumes about BioWare's support for the community that built up around NWN, some of whom transferred to NWN2 when it came out, and some of whom didn't. But the boards and MP id process are the same, and in the same place.
The only person being screwed here is you; by your attitude.

This guy found something else:
"It runs!
I deleted my accout
I made a new one, with new name, without connection to EA Masters
I registred my NWN 2 Key
I tried to login and it works"

I get that. Perhaps you should tell EA that you are upset that your EA account ID can't be used to log-in to a non-EA game.Bloodspoor wrote...
NWN DM seems to not get the concept that people want to keep their online screen name that they use here in game so it's easier to be identified. As for how did EA screw us, it's actually quite possible. For all of the previous forums and game related logins, you simply needed a screen name to login. EA has made your official login name your email address. Somehow, the game is viewing your account name as your EA account name, but you can't enter your email when logging into the game. It's pretty annoying. Unfortunately you have to create a new account to play online to manage a work around.

EA doesn't give a crap about NWN2; it's not their game.
That the NWN2 section of the forum is here at all is down to some vestige of BioWare's former (IMO noble) past as an independant company, agreeing to host it on Obsidian's/Atari's behalf.
As has been indicated many times in many posts, your EA account is completely seperate from your MP NWN2 log-in ID.
What you just indicated...
...is exactly the right "fix" for this "problem".I made a new one, with new name, without connection to EA Masters

If you have two different passwords for BC and BSN, you can use both to log into BC account on web. (I am not 100% sure about this, but it worked for me. It doesn't work like this for BSN account.) You must use password associated with BC account to log into NWN2 multiplayer. If you don't know it, reset it through BC web.
Not sure about how exactly are these accounts linked though.

Create a file in
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\neverwinter nights 2
(or in the install directory
Create a text document called nwncdkey.ini
In this document write
[CDKEY]
Key1=XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
Key2=XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
key3=XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
(but replace the Xs with your key.
This should allow you to play!

wait, so whatws the answer here? how do i find the password to my NWN2 multiplayer account?
The answer is go in game and create a new account if you are having a problem. This is like logging into itunes and complaining that your msn username and password don't work, it's a separate system despite the fact we are using EA forums to discuss this.
The account is NOT the account used in this forum, NWN2 is actually nothing to do with EA, it's an Atari game developed by obsidian, but they made a deal to use the accounts which used to be used by the now defunct bioware forums. This also means you can play NWN2 even if EA were to ban you for inappropriate comments, and if you have an account for NWN1, baldurs gate or some of the older games those would work.
The answer is that if you lost your account password, or can't figure out how to get whatever account name you've chosen to work, register a new account name or password.
You might even be able to register in game with the one you are using on EA and then have it be the same, assuming no one has already used that nickname, or perhaps it's linked somehow, regardless what ever is happening with BSN, EA and bioware is all pretty recent and all that happened AFTER the game was released. Unless EA buys atari, this is just never going to change.

If you remember your account name (Community Name) you can go to http://accounts.biow...n/retrieve.html and reset your password.
Worked for me, thanks for this solution.

NWNDM: It's a fix for the problem but it doesn't solve the underlying issue that their forums allows one to login in a non-case sensitive way, but the game doesn't. It's an issue, it's a *simple* issue. It should have been fixed long ago.
I just wasted a hour of my life figuring this out, and I'm not very happy.
As far as EA not giving a crap - they should give a crap, when they bought bioware they also purchased all their old IP, and are taking responsibility for old projects. Yea, they aren't the publisher, but guess what? They are now the developer. The game is currently being sold, and as such they should strive to give customer service.

I think Atari would have a little bit to say if EA starting thinking they own NWN2. Or NWN for that matter.
Then there's Hasbro or whoever owns the D&D IP itself these days and hasn't licensed the video game rights to it to EA.
But by all means, carry on with your expectations that aren't grounded in reality.
As for the case sensitive vs non-case sensitive... you have a point there.

1) There appears to have been some some changes to Bioware account management when EA became the owners of Bioware. I know personally that my Bioware login name was changed from my legacy one to a MS Live for Gamers gamertag due to my registering Dragon Age.
2) Nerverwinter Nights 2 login screen won't except MS Live gamertag logins in the form accountname@hotmail.com. Which is the type of account name syntax that earlier users of the MS Live (those originally created for Xbox Live) system would have.
I remember trying in in vain to use my legacy Bioware accountname when I registered Dragon Age, but try as hard as I did, it was a no go. That was the accountname I'd previously used to register the Bioware games Baldurs Gate II, Neverwiner Nights, SW KotOR and Jade Empire, so understandly I wanted to keep using it. IMO there has been some enforced change for legacy accounts and I suspect that might be the source of some of the problems people are having with their NWN2 registration. My only solution when I reinstalled last night and attempted to access NWN2 multiplay was to just create a completely new account. Of couse because MS Live Gamertags are always associated with an email address that meant I had to use a different address - something I really didn't want to do. Anyhow, that's my recommended solution for people struggling with this problem.
