Hi,
I purchased Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 off of steam this past week. In both I have a major issue that renders both games unplayable. That is, after every 10-20 seconds there is a very long stutter that slows down both the graphics and audio. I have played many new video games on my system, and have never had this issue before.
Here are the specs on my PC:
Processor: i5 M450 2.40GHz
RAM: 4.00 GB DDR3
System: Windows 7 64-bit
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 310M
The stuttering is far worse in Mass Effect 1 (but still present in Mass Effect 2). Any help provided will be greatly appreciated.
Best wishes,

A 310 is supposed to be a bad choice for gaming with. It's just a business graphics part:

so how can I get Mass Effect to run smoothly with my system?

That will depend on whether or not the display in it is better than average. It is the screen resolution settings that affect frame rates the most, but cheap laptops have cheap displays, and just about any resolution setting other than the default looks terrible on them. There is also a place called Tweak Guides, where you can look up all the settings and choose which to adjust.
