I've never ran my 50th level Soldier through another play-through so I had a few questions:

1. If I do all the quests and side-quests (which I always do anyway) will I be able to reach level 60th in the second play-through? Would making sure to not use the Mako at all to kill geth and other enemies help with this? (For some odd reason I LOVE killing geth with the Mako. Don't ask. I know I cheat myself out of XP.)

2. I imported this character into ME2 and have finished that game as well. If I leveled him up to 60th level in another ME1 play-through, and imported him again into ME2, only as a 60th level character this time, this wouldn't cause any ME2 character save conflicts would it? (I'm assuming not, but I wanted to ask just in case.)

3. What is the difference between the bonus' you get for importing a 60th level character into ME2 as opposed to a 50th level character?

Thanks.

1 yes, to lvl 60 is possible

2 no problem, it will be a different save for the lvl 60

3 from the wiki:

Importing a level 50 through level 59 character will grant 2,000 XP (the player starts at level 3), 30,000 credits, and 5,000 of each resource.

Importing a level 60 character will grant 4,000 XP (the player starts at level 5), 50,000 credits, and 10,000 of each resource.

Pretty sure that level 55 grants level 4.
40-49 grants level 2
50-54 grants level 3
55-59 grants level 4
60 grants level 5

@OP-  I would highly recommend that you do a quick run starting at 50, and THEN do a full run with all the choices you want.  Although you MIGHT be able to reach 60 in one run from 50, you probably will not and that will be frustrating.

From 50 you will definitely reach 60 in one run as long as it is NOT a quick, plot-only run. So I recommend you just do a full play through from 50, doing all the side quests to set up the choices as you wish them to be imported. If you are doing all the side missions as you go along, then you can completely blow off all the collecting missions and still hit level 60 well before you reach the end.

maybe. IF you get out of the Hammerhead and kill all enemies on foot.

im not so sure youll hit level 60 if your only level 50. ive done it a few times with around level 54, but your still missing alot of XP. getting from 59 to 60 alone is about 1/3 of a thorough runthrough. i dont think youll hit level 60 maybe more like level 58.

The biggest impediment could be is this your first run to 60 or have you done it before. IIRC you get a XP bonus for having made level 60 before, and thus if you have a 60th character previously you should be able to make a total completionist run and get to 60, but you have to do EVERYTHING and kill EVERYTHING outside of the Mako. If you are trying for your first 60th character then odds are no you will not make it, and will probably hit 57-59 depending on what all you do or how you do it.

Personally I say make a speed run through doing only core missions, get better gear and then do a full run later. Once you hit level 60 you don't actually have to kill most things in a mission, allowing you to drive by or skip fights that are just fights to gain XP. Taking a 60th character though the game allows me to a completionist run in 8-12 hours instead of the usual 20-28 hours because I don't have to kill things in a bunch of areas.

it took me 1 playthrough to get to 51.

it took me 3 subsequent NEAR complete runs (no collection quests) to reach 59.

then i just sat and did the infinite exp glitch in liaras recruitment for like... 3 hours

I assume you didn't get out of the Mako and didn't kill everything and probably didn't do everything as well.  I also assume you didn't have the bonus XP from having a previous level 60 character.

The reason I assume this is because I can reliably get from level 1 to 56 on first play, and do a main mission only play and hit 59 and almost be level 60 which I usually hit Eden Prime on the next play.  I have done this on at least 3 characters so I know it can be done.  By taking three runs to get from 51-59 tells me you either missed a bunch or didn't kill outside the Mako and possibly both.  There is no reason it should have taken 3 completionist runs to go from 51-59.

As a side note, I never do much on the collection quests other than what is right in front of my character at lower levels gaining me free money and xp.  Once I hit higher levels I ignore all collection quests.

I recently did this for a lvl 50 character. I played insantiy level. Killed outside the Mako, including the 4 threshers. Collected all the planet resources.....uh....., and completed all side quests etc. I hit 60 in the Citadel. I had my doubts, thought I was going to get stuck at 59.

How did you managed to kill the thresher maws outside of the Mako? As soon as I got out of the mako I got hit by the acid or it tunneled under me. ><

Just pop out for the final kill shot.

also... if you are close to 60 at the end of the game, there is a place where there are never-ending spawns while climbing the outside of the citadel.  It's one of the long hallways where Geth Juggernauts come out and charge you.  You can stay near the start of the hall and they will keep coming forever.

Threshers are easy.  They do a melee attack if you get too close that is instant death for most, and they burrow if you get too far away.  Once you get used to them, you find the optimum distance that they just spit acid and then strafe left or right in a circle around them blasting them.  Since this thread was about Soldier, you also pop Immunity which should be maxed, and then you can almost melee a thresher to death.

I thought there were more than 4 threshers in the game, but I could easily be mistaken.  I also know that halway you are taking about isn't endless on the PC but there are quite a few that will come if you let them, getting you decent XP for the wait.
