Was anyone a bit disappointed with working for Cerberus?

Yeah, I realize in the end you can give the metaphorical middle finger to the Illusive man, but at the end of ME1 I was all like; "Great, now I have the respect of the council and the entire Alliance military." Then, "Oh, you died and the majority of your squad members moved on, the Council dismisses your claims and you no longer work for the Alliance." I hope they don't do the same thing with ME3.

I was upset by it at first, didn't care for it anymore quickly enough.

I'm still anti-Cerberus though.

More with how Cerberus doesn't really do too much for me and the mission. Sure TIM tells me where to go and Cerberus science teams give me new guns/armor, but what about Cerberus' supposed political influence?

Well there's nothing you really could have done in the Terminus Systems.

I was excited with the idea of working with Cerberus before ME2 was released. Alot of potential for good storytelling, even made a SS-Shepard. After playing ME2, I was dissapointed how the whole thing was handled.

I HATED Cerberus in ME1. With all the tests, and killing Admiral Kahoku, and the novels, I was pissed to learn I had to work for them.

As the time passed, however, I just did whatever I could to stick to TIM. Even when I went the renegade route the whole game, I destroyed the CB because I wanted TIM to die.

No, I was disappointed by the fact that I could not, not once, bring up Akuze.

The funny thing was at the beginning I was total anti-Cerberus, but by the end of the game I almost forgot what they had done in ME1. I almost ended up saving the base on my full paragon playthrough.

Especially strange considering the default is a Sole Survivor, too.

This as well, you're telling me Shepard wouldn't even mention that at all to the Illusive Man? I call bulls***

I know what you mean, I almost forgot too. I don't know how that happened, I guess TIM is just a very charismatic person.

I liked the concept and potential of working for the enemy. The execution was less than satisfying unfortunately. Whereas most games provide even an illusion of choice. We were railroaded into accepting Cerberus. It would have be more believable if you could momentarily make good on your threat to Jacob. "I'm not working for terrorists." While minor, being able to discover Cerberus was our only alternative would have gone a long way for roleplaying purposes.

There is also the whole Akuze thing. Vasir hilariously mocks the entire ME2 Cerberus plot when she openly criticizes Shepard for essentially ignoring what Cerberus was... and we still have no choice to scream defiance.

Don't worry. It's totally different.

"You're back from the dead, but half your new squad has left the crew, the Council thinks you're the new Saren, the Alliance thinks you're crazy, and your old Love Interest knows about the affair in the engine room."

Ah, but Shepard was working for Cerberus even then.

Really. It makes sense.

And Tim is his father. And the Reapers are really just in Sheps imagination. And it was all just a dream...

No no no!

Zaeed was the father. TIM was the creepy teacher who watched you in kindergarten.

Remember, though, all of them like the destruction of the Collector base.

Anyway, yes, and I hope I can squash them in ME3.

I agree. But Martin Sheen did a great job. It was a brave and different decision of BioWare to try this new twist on the story.

I did not mind working for them. I am just tired of how Bioware is beating them over the head with the idiot ball. [Or maybe it is the villian ball] Can Bioware try to get mission ideas from somewhere else please? How about the collectors, the enemy we are actually trying to stop. How about the Heretic Geth who are still not all dead. Why must they go back and beat Cerberus again and again to force another plot out of them? Cerberus is not suposed to be stupid evil, they are meant to be necessary evil. They are meant to be the dirty side of saving the universe.
Maybe I just expect too much from Bioware... maybe starwars has just corrupted them too much with the good/evil plots...

I really learned to dislike cerberus in ME1. It was neat seeing a different side, however when I completed every single anti-cerberus mission in ME1, and they dont mention it, or I dont get an option to its a little frustraing.

However, given the what the Lazarus Project did for Shepard I find it plausible for him to say what the heck the brought me back if they can lead me in the direction to stop the reapers when no one else will even acknowledge them then why not.

At the same time, Anderson acknowledged their existence but said as long as you are with cerberus him and the council wont help you. well at that point you should have had an option to ditch cerberus and go council. that would have been a great decision point for the game.

Or I guess the old adage: keep your friends close your enemies closer may come into play with the forced cerberus.

Actually, you can comment on the thorian creepers and the rachni on one of the conversations with Miranda. She skillfully defends Cerberus and I still cannot yell "AKUZE!!!!!!!"

It's just so annoying. Especially when they're doing the field test at the beginning of the game.
"You ended up in a thresher maw attack on Akuze killing your entire unit."

This is what I wanted to answer to that: higheternity.deviantart.com/art/Mass-Effect-2-Sole-Survivor-153310394

Ahh I'll have to try that with Miranda. Thanks Aeowyn!
