The questions are for ME2, my class is infiltrator.

1. I can't seem to figure out what people are talking about when they discuss putting points in to heavy weapons, shotguns etc. Is there something that can be unlocked that I am missing? I am about level 20 now, and I have yet to see anything allowing me to put points in to armor and weapons.

2. Where can I get good armor? I have Cerberus armor and Blood Dragon armor. Both are decent, but I am pretty sure there has to be something in the game that is better. Is the best armor put together piece by piece, or something you buy and download? Again, class is infiltator, if that helps in determining which armor is best.

1. I'm not sure what "putting points" is referring to in this context. In ME1 you could obviously put points into weapons, but the only real "points" you can assign for weapons for ME2 is through the upgrades system. Perhaps there's just been a bit of confusion? I couldn't tell you for sure though.

2. For Infiltrators your best bet by far is to customize the N7. I'd recommend a set right off the bat but it really depends on your style of play (i.e. Widow/Sniper Infiltrators and CQC Infiltrators). Generally I'd look for weapon damage first, with shields and power damage as a secondary with melee damage as a another useful mod also if you're in the CQC arena.

Oh, perhaps I was reading stuff about ME1 and didn't realize it.

Cool. I have been running across some N7 pieces, and the price of the stuff isn't too bad, but I started thinking, 'you know, I am starting to see some of these pieces and realizing that I could get more out of these pieces than the armor I am wearing".

Is there a list of available pieces and where I can get them, or does the location of where you buy them change every time you start a new character?

Well, here's a link to the available Armor pieces to give you an idea. (don't click if you don't want a spoiler)

There are upgrades for ME2 where you can increase the total number of rounds for Heavy Weapons and there is a leg Armor piece that gives a boost also.

BTW, I am an assassin build, so I am all about sniper damage.

I checked that wiki link, and I just can't seem to put together a good set. The current armor I have increases total damage by 15% and health by 10%. The pieces I put together really aren't beating that 15% damage increase, and barely matches the 10% health.

The "must-have" armour is the +10% headshot damage visor. Since you can buy it in Omega, plus it enhances the Infiltrator's signature sniping ability, you basically will use it from start to finish.

Another piece I like for Infiltrators is the extra ammo armband. That's mainly because the Sniper Rifle goes through ammo quite quickly.

I also somewhat like the extra Storming Speed leg gear. That just helps the Infiltrator get into better positions faster, but that's relatively minor.

The rest, I don't have much of an opinion on.

Armor really doesn't do a whole lot in ME2. It's mostly for looks. A 10% increase in headshot damage sounds nice, but except for the first few missions of the game, it's not that helpful in actually killing things. The extra ammo armband sounds nice, but it's only really good for weapons that already have enough ammo. 10% extra ammo for a 13 shot Widow translates into one extra round. On a 300 ammo SMG or AR, however, that's an extra 30 rounds. The only piece that really affects the game is the heavy weapon ammo piece. That 10% extra ammo is the only way to get to a full 200% charge for the Cain, letting you use it twice.

So, it's a nice idea, but really, the effects from armor in this game are so minor as to pretty much be unnoticeable in gameplay. I usually pick the headshot visor, the extra ammo arm, and the heavy weapon leg piece. Mostly for RP reasons, plus I think this setup just looks badass.

You don't have to mod to do that, armor barely make a difference anyway so even on insanity you should be able to wear whatever you think looks cool without worry.

Honestly though, for a weapon that only has 13 rounds, having an additional round still sounds appealing. It's not game breaking, sure, but it allows me to make one more stupid mistake. lol

still I am a slitckler for that... so a week ago I cared about that little 5% shield bonus. Now w/e I got 15 shield upgrades so now it is definitely not an issue that 5 %

Sadly, this is true.  I'm attached to my recon hood for the "black ops look," but oh man, the +10% headshot modifier cannot be beat.

Gear worth wearing IMO are those boosting melee damage. Combining Kestrel and N7 pieces, you can get a 45 % bonus. That, if you're a Vanguard or playing a CQC aprpoach with the other classes
