The exploding mechs are the hardest mech. Well I was using an almost fully upgraded sniper rifle with disrupter ammo(the best ammo to use against mechs) and it still took me about 8 shots(I can't remember if I was using Overload too but it was barely hurting it) to strip it's first defense(IIRC the mechs have three defenses: Shields, Armor, and Health). This was only on normal dificulty so insanity would take even longer. And sniper rifles are one of the more powerful weapons.

I never really bothered to use the Cain since I didn't need it but I'm sure it will one shot them. I don't know how much ammo it uses but I think when you pull the weapon out it will tell you if you have 100% ammo or not.

I really don't know how much damage you will do since I'm not going to attempt insanity until a few more playthroughs.

8 seconds huh? That's pretty quick. I don't think it will increase that much from normal to insanity.

Is there no man brave enough to go through insanity without upgrading? I might pass on ME2 after all.
I'd hate to make it to insanity and find out I have to deal with this bat **** retarded upgrading.

Not 8 seconds, 8 shots.

You don't have to play on insanity. You want to beat it on insanity for the trophy, right? Well if you're going for all the trophies you're going to have to save everyone anyways(I know you were unsure before). And you're going to need the ship upgrades for that. If you're willing to do more playthroughs, you get a bonus in minerals for a second playthrough and that will let you get some upgrades without planet scaning. So you can have your first playthrough on an easier difficulty and then the second playthrough can be insanity.

Planet scaning isn't that bad. With the patch you can get it done much faster and I think the upgrades are worth it.

Do you really want to pass up a great game just because of the upgrading?

I don't think the planet scanning is bad it's just I shouldn't have to do it on a new game +
I'd be totally fine with ship upgrades/normandy changes not carrying over but I wanna keep the stuff it took me nearly the entire game to get.

If they were gonna do this they should've just left out new game + completely. Instead we get half-assed version.
If they left it out completely I wouldn't have even bothered coming here and asking this stuff, I would have just not gotten it.

If I can't keep the stuff I bought, I don't want it at all. Basically everything I did would be a constant reminder of the retarded new game +

Unless they say something really nice about this game before the 18th then I can't get it.
The only thing I'd regret is that I would never get to romance me a delicious blue berry woman.

One day Samara. One day.

You're really going to pass on what many people consider to the best game of 2010 just because you don't like the idea of having to get the upgrades etc. again?

I don't see the issue, myself. So you have to buy/find a few upgrades again, big deal. It's hardly something to avoid the game over.

As for planet scanning... If you know which planets to scan, and how much you actually need in total of each resource, you can drastically cut down on time spent (wasted ;-) ) scanning.

http://masseffect.wi...Planet_Scanning

I'm on playthrough 3 at the moment, and had all my resource scanning done & dusted *very* early on. The only time I need to use a probe now is if there is an "Anomaly" (N7 side mission) on a planet. Having previously beaten the game also helps, because of the 50k bonus of each resource.

Yeah.

If I can't get what I want, I don't want it at all. Naturally that mentality only applies to situations where I actually have a say.

My best game of 2009 was Demon's souls.
My best game of 2010 was Bayonetta.

You'll laugh when you realize what those two games have in common.

The game got countless awards and positive reviews. What I don't understand is that you don't want to buy the game if it doesn't have a good NG+, right? In order to unlock NG+ you have to finish the game at least once. So why is not having a good NG+ a dealbreaker for you? Wouldn't you enjoy the game for the first playthrough? Why are you interested in this game since I read in another thread that you posted that you're not playing the game for the story. Then why are you playing it? This game is very Character and Story Driven. If you're more interested in combat then you should play a shooter instead of Mass Effect. ME does have shooter gameplay but it will never be as good in that area as, say, a FPS. The reason that this game succeeds is because of the characters and story(much less story then in ME1 but it's still there) and if that isn't your cup of tea then I suggest you pass on this game. So tell me what made you interested in this game or what kind of things do you like in a game and I can help you out. But as of right now, I don't understand.

I wouldn't enjoy it because in the back of my mind I would know the truth. Those thoughts would be sitting there in my head like an angry troll ruining my fun.

Not to mention it feels like they went back on their word.

For me, the story is Mass effect is just the cherry on top of the sundae.
What I play it for? I answered that earlier in the thread. I could go find it for you?

I still like video games--not video stories.

What did they go back on?

But there must be certain qualities that you like better in games or maybe a prefered genre?

I think it's a great game and it's one of my favorites. Maybe you could rent the game and see if you like it? If you liked the demo then I'm sure you will like the game. It has some really great moments in it. It's too bad that you guys won't get ME1, though. That game had some great moments too.

The went back on the new game +

I like hack & slash, RPGs, and TPS. I'll play other stuff but those genres usually have what I like in them.

Here's the post btw:

If there wasn't a new game + I wouldn't be buying this game at all. No question.

The only reason I'd do insanity is for the trophy, and in terms of challenge, Mass Effect is child's play on all difficulty settings. Before anyone asks, the reason I want play Mass effect and all RPGs alike is because I have something called choice.
Remember when I said I didn't get Vanquish? I didn't get it because it was everything I hate about FPS'(most games in general) in a TPS.

In every other game I'm told where to go. Who I can talk to. If I can talk at all. What weapons I can have. What I can do with the weapons. How I can look, and generally I have no freedom to do anything I want.

In RPGs I can finally choose what I want to do. Not to mention I love TPS'.
I don't play for story. I don't play to look hardcore. I play RPGs for fun.

I didn't just like the demo, I loved it. I played it over 10 times.

I don't rent games.

Yeah, I don't rent games either.

If you loved the demo that much and played it that many times then I'm sure you'll love the game.  So are you going to pass up a game that you obviously really liked because of a bad NG+? What is more important to you? A really good NG+ or a game that you could sink countless hours in, and that could potentially be one of your favorite games(I don't know if it will be your favorite I'm just saying "potentially" because you love it so far)?

If you're still unsure then look up some more info about it.

I wouldn't sink countless hours into a game without new game +

Just look at Fallout 3, I beat it once and never played it again. Total waste of cash.
Every time I look up info I feel like I'm spoiling more and more of the game.

I seriously hope Bioware says something I like before the 18th.

Maybe if I came here earlier and ****ed hard enough they would've fixed the NG+ for the ps3 version.

No, they wouldn't. Not because they don't listen to criticism, they do (though to what extent is up for debate). They just don't pander to the need of every arrogant, self-absorbed, solipsist, entitled, piece of trash 4chan has to offer.

NG+ is a tiny fraction of what ME2 has to offer. In comparison to importing a ME1 (or Genesis equivalent) character and making different decisions, minuscule. If you choose to deny yourself a fantastic gaming experience based upon an arbitrary and rather laughable insistence upon a minor feature of that experience then you're a fool.

Did you have fun using the extent of your vocabulary, buddy?

Your opinions don't equal fact. Ever heard one man's trash is another man's treasure?
And what is a 4chan?

See, at least eve tried to help me. She's more of a bro than you'll ever be.
I actually hope she gets Demon's souls.

In the mean time, I'll wait to see if I hear something I like. Most developers don't listen to the fans because they're only in it for the money. Of course they'll fix bugs because that can embarrass them.

I agree that looking more info up spoils the game. I remember pretty much all of ME2 was spoiled for me by the Gamefaqs forums. Stuff in General should be ok to read(It's the forum we're in now) since it's no spoilers.

I would agree with this for most developers, but not BioWare. BioWare has proven that they listen to their fans(most of the time) and I think that is a very good quality to have as a developer. You wouldn't have gotten what you wanted if you went about it like that. And If you do buy ME2 then there is a ME3 wishlist thread that you can post in, like if you want a better NG+. Try not to go in there yet though, I'm sure there are spoilers there.

I'll look around the other none-spoiler sections if it helps.
If I see anything I like I'll probably post something.

If you like RPGs you should definitely get Demon's souls.

If they say upgrades carry over on the ps3 version--THIS would be my face: :o
They did say they listened to fan feed back. I'm sure I'm not the only one that complained about this.

they added new game plus because we wanted it when they said there wasnt going to be one in me2 we got mad so they added it for the fans the reason they took it out before they added it again was because they were going to let us keep playing after we did the suicide mission

Why would I want to have nothing to do.

It wouldn't have destroyed the game if they added new game, free-roam, and new game+

Everyone would have won. Instead, no.

Why would it be a waste though, without new game +?

You can easily sink a good 40 hours or more into a single playthrough of ME2, which doesn't seem like a waste of cash to me, even if you never play it again.

How long did it take you to finish Bayonetta? Did you ever play it again?

Even without the kind of new game + you would like, where *all* upgrades are kept, if you play ME2 for a second (or third, or fourth...) time, you do get some bonuses, e.g. 50k of each resource (which gives you more eezo than you need for *all* upgrades), e.g. you keep your XP/level if you import your ME2 character back in, etc. You just don't get things such as "Shotgun Damage x/5" etc.

What do you really lose out on by not having the upgrades carry over? What's wrong with having to get them again? It doesn't affect anything, really. It doesn't stop you from being able to finish the game. You still have the weapons, you still have your XP (if you import an ME2 character). You'll come across all the upgrades again as you work your way through the game. You don't *need* them all at the start, it doesn't cripple the game or anything.

Each of my playthroughs has been from an ME1 import, so as well as having to get the upgrades again I've also had to re-gain all the XP and everything else. Doesn't bother me. I play for the story and for the fun, plus I play a different class each time, which changes the gameplay.

9 hours
I have over eighty hours in it
I've beaten it on all chapeter on all difficulties with a platinum rank.
I completed as Jeanne and Bayonetta.
Loved everything about. And yes, it has new game +

They could've just taken it out completely, rather than add a half-assed version.
I shouldn't have to get upgrades again on a new game +

It almost feels like a personal insult. If that wasn't enough they only give a slight nudge in resources and money.
If they had to not let you have upgrades they could've at least give you back all the money/resources you spent. That way you could buy them again without any hassle.

Then I can't even upgrade as soon as I start. I have to wait until I find LOL mordin.

Do you think it would be possible to beat insanity without upgrading armor or weapons?
Anything else you think I should know?

it was either keep playing after suicide mission or ng + we have both in me2 and why dont you like that upgrades dont transfer are you to lazy to get them aain its not that hard its not like you need everything upgraded to beat the game only a handful of uprades for armour and weapons are needed besides the ship upgrades

Because it's not new game plus.

It has nothing to do with it being hard or easy. When they say newgame + that's what I want.

The game won't let you keep the upgrades because it prevents people from blasting through on casual and carry the same strength into insanity without actually earning it. Are you intimidated by an NG+ that lets you keep all your skills and weapons but not the upgrades? If you are, then just play a regular new game on insanity, you'll get the achievement either way.

You earned it when you bought it.

I'm not intimidated by the difficulty. When they say new game + that's what I expect.

You don't need ANY upgrades to beat the game on insanity.
