As far as what you keep and don't keep in NG+, you DO keep all your weapons, heavy weapons, and armor sets/pieces. You also keep your levels, and the bonus powers you unlocked for yourself (such as Barrier, Neural Shock, etc.)

(upgrade available through Garrus), Multicore Shielding(upgrade available through Tali), and Heavy Ship Armor(upgrade available through Jacob). You do not need the Med-Bay, Advanced Mineral Scanner, Modular Probe Bay, and Extended Fuel Cells upgrades.

I'm not a reaper, but you better believe I am a collector.Alistair4Ever wrote...
alright, bringerofchaos, i agree the NG+ upgrade system is screwed up. i hate mineral searching and the upgrades going away but if u have seen any interviews with casey hudson or jesse houston or whoever they say that for the ps3 v. they made mining alot simpler and more quick of a process, though they didnt spare many details. also, i do not believe that difficulty scales with upgrades but i do not know for certain. but please do not miss out on this excellent game because of one flaw. if this game is not in your top 10 of your favorite games ever, i believe that u are a reaper sir.
That why I have to get the collector armor.
I will assume direct control of the battle field.
I am confused. One part of me is telling me yes and the other part is saying no.

You earned it when you bought it.
You buy the game to enjoy a product that other people spend their time and effort to make it.
You earn accomplishments through work, not money.

I'm not intimidated by the difficulty.
Then why keep on asking about whether you can beat insanity NG+ without upgrades.
BringerOfChaos wrote...
When they say new game + that's what I expect.
NG+ in this game is for people who want to: 1) test out powers and weapons that they couldn't get on earlier missions 2) role-play and want to keep their favorite armor/weapons and see their Shepard wearing it throught out entire game.
A game like Borderlands starts with Playthrough 1, and its difficulty is fixed. Playthrough 2 is unocked once you've beaten the game, and eveything carries through. It works because the difficultiy is fixed.
ME2 allows you to contantly switch difficulties, so it is unfair to carry everything over. If ME2 has fixed difficulties and a leveling system and a gameplay like Borderlands, then its NG+ would certainly be fixed. But it is not Borderlands, it is not Mass Effect 1, it is not another game. It is a game called Mass Effect 2. Don't worry, once you've played it through, it'll make sense.

Trying to figure out if I'll use my custom male shep or the default. I'm also trying to figure out what sex I play first.
@Fel
I made it through the ps3 demo on insanity pretty damn easy. Didn't die once.
Is that I good sign? Will I be doing respectable damage?

I'm just going to add that not all the ship upgrades are vital. What you do want to get is the Thanix Cannon
This is true. These are the only upgrades in the game you need to get, and you only need to get them if you want the perfect ending. I believe that, in a NG+, you start with enough resources so that you never need to mine to get these, and you could even get a lot of other upgrades as well if you pleased. ME2's NG+ makes things ridiculously easy.

This. They don't make enough of a difference for me to want to wear armor pieces that I think are ugly.

When I said "earned" I meant I earned it when I bought it.
If I get the game and find out I can't beat it without upgrading I will be beyond pissed.
That's what NG+ means to you. NG+ means that everything you had in your last run carries over to every run after that. Hell, I would've been completely fine with the idea of NG+ on effecting the difficulty you beat. Why didn't they do that?
It won't ever make sense and that's why I'm not upgrading my ****.
Funny this is I only played through borderlands once because it didn't have newgame +

I think you should play FemShep first. In my opinion, I think she is superior to ManShep. I like the way she delivers lines more and there are some cases where you'll get a unique line of dialogue if playing FemShep which you wouldn't get for ManShep. This is just all my opinion though.

Despite the fact that you can choose whatever mission you like to do, the missions themselves are actually loosely designed to increase in difficulty. This is done to get players familiar with the combat on different levels, and to scale with the players abilities. An NG+ that carries over everything would mean you would obliterate the earlier missions. And that's just one of the reasons. Again, if you've played through the whole game, you'll see why it's done this way.

I really like how my femshep looks.
Anyway to screen cap in-game on the ps3?
Femshep - voice acting
Manshep - trolling
My favorite will definitely be my femshep. I'm just afraid I'll screw her up on my first run from lack of knowledge lol
My manshep looks like Bruce willis lol
Should I just play as the default Shepard?
Depending on the messages I get, I'll get ME2.

I think he should try both ManShep and FemShep but I believe that he stated that he didn't want to do any of the romances except for Samara. Too bad, most of the romances are great.
Edit: I just got ninja'd

Not really. As one of many who've beaten the game without upgrading, the later missions are no harder than the earlier ones.

I don't think you can screencap but play whoever you want. You said that FemShep will be your favorite so why not start with her? It will be much easier to get into the dialogue with her as Shepard, in my opinion. But the choice is up to you.
