All,

I have experienced various crashes over the past few months, not really knowing where it has come from. After a lot of DEBUGGING, I have at least fixed my issue (thus far!), and wanted to share my findings. So, because of lack of support for, well, everything regarding music, I decided to make use of custom sound effects for my music. It works well enough.

Anyway, my issue had to do with my output settings. When you go to the Wave Banks section, you can set said settings. The two I was having issues with were:

* Compression Type
* Bank Type

Now, the default compression type was PCM, so I just kept that. The default bank type is Decompress into memory. With these settings, my set of music, was was just a little over 100MB was output into 600MB. In retrosepct, Decompress into memory seems to be doing what it's supposed to!

Anyway, after looking at Bioware's FMOD projects for sounds, I realized they were using:

* Compression Type = Load Into Memory
* Bank Type = ADPCM

Once I made these changes on my end, the crashes went away. I'm not entirely sure what was causing the crash... Maybe loading half a gig of sound effects into memory was causing un-caught out of memory exceptions?

Hopefully, this helps out someone who was in the same boat as me.

oh wow, nice find Challseus! I will keep that in mind when rebuilding my banks. I know that I used ADPCM for the music... but didnt pay much attention to Decompress vs. Load into memory. Might solve some of my bizarre crashes as well.

So it may be codec related? I have klite codec pack installed.
