Beyond the corrected version of the Game's Requirements in my opening remarks, I'd invited anyone to join in on discussing the requirements, and your personal PC's components. No one ever took me up on the offer. There is now a separate thread titled "Can my (your) PC run this game? If so, how well?"

It can be found here:

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/7311001

No one has had any interest in it for the past 17 days?

Please read and take advantage of the useful information in the messages that are pinned up at the top (the "Stickies"), particularly Raen Imrahl's new one starting off with "Read First".

Thank you.

You have questions you want to ask?

(Snipped out most of it.)

If you do not want to complete a proper report, we can only assume that your problem isn't that important to you and we will just skip right over it.  Please use every day business style paragraph breaks, punctuation, and spelling.

Thank you,

Gorath

Are there more fresh new members I have missed with the welcome basket?

Summer is in full swing, and the weekends literally begin on Thursday evenings and extend through Monday evenings. If readership is only 20% of its cool weather representation in mid-week, then weekends are more like only 5% of what we have here on average during the winter and spring.

Since your odds of having anyone actually read your question are very low, you should do everything you can to improve your odds, starting from *NOT* wasting anyone's time asking the same, tired, many times answered old questions.

Next, avoid silly spelling and wierd formatting.  Standard business style spelling, punctuation, and paragraph breaks will earn you better attention.

And of course, do what you are asked to summarize the pertinent facts (RI's sticky that starts "Read First" covers it).

The low readership will persist until early to mid-October.

There are several reference articles that have been published in this forum, a couple of which include guides to understanding video graphics card names.**

From 2004 until 2009, both AMD and nVIDIA used a four-digit code in the names that had very similar meaning: Zero to 400 in the "hundreds" digit was for either an onboard video chip of extremely low quality, or for a very basic business level card intended for charts, graphs, presentations, and spreadsheets only, not for games at all.

The very first digit has very limited meaning for performance, and can be ignored most of the time. One year, Radeons had just an "X" for a first digit. In between the business level cards (real circuit boards) and the Mainline Gaming cards, which are considered to be a "Medium" level, the "500" is a "Budget" card, able to handle Low settings and Medium Resolutions, or Medium settings and Low Resolutions.

A year ago, well, coming up on two years ago fairly soon, the Radeon HD 5570 card effectively matched the performance of the prior year's HD 4650, so it was closer to Mainline than usual for a "500", but the 4650 hadn't been very close to the middle of the Mainline class, even when brand new.

The HD 4670 sat on top of the Toms Hardware "Best Performance for the Buck" charts for a year and a half, as a Mainline card. The HD 5670 took over from it at that coveted placing. The HD 5770 was very popular, and still is, sitting as it does near the top of the Mainline category, and getting very good marks in those same Tom Hardware Charts.

Card with "800" and "900" numbers are so-called "Enthusiast Level", the very fastest and very best there is for gaming. Three years ago, nVIDIA released their GTS200 generation, and abandoned the old numbering, but never settled into any real standard for what the "tens"digit means now, so the only thing to rely on is that "GT" now means mostly Business Quality, unless it's a GT 440, in which case it is a borderline card near the bottom cutoff of Mainline.

"GTS" means Mainline (GTS 450), and GTX mostly means High End, although a GTX 550 is another Mainline graphics card.

Today, I see several really dodgy questions, long since thoroughly covered, and totally unnecessary to repeat again.  Not even Sami Jo is answering those, with her great patience toward the lazy types.  Her neighborhood has been without any steady electric power following the storm passing through threre, and hasn't been available to respond.

Message traffic is slowly picking up as the nice weather fades into fall and people come back indoors, but that doesn't change the bad habits of the newest new visitors, who arrive wearing multiple layers of blindfolds. Take those off, folks, and seek knowledge from the stickies (yes, it's true, there are too many, overdue for consolidation).

DO NOT SKIP OVER Raen Imrahl's "Read First" description of how to deal with a problem you want to learn about.

Sami Jo no longer has time to visit and keep on pointing out for the new arrivals asking the same ever so boring repeated questions again, where the Stickies are, endlessly.  I never do so on a one to one basis, personally.  I just tell them to remove the blindfolds.

P. S.  Interestingly, within a few hours of my saying she wasn't able to visit, suddenly Sami Jo popped in for the first time in maybe a month.

Message traffic has fallen off this week, but the newest members are still running into the walls and furniture in here, stumbling around with their eyes under thick blindfolds.

The stickies are there to be helpful, which isn't possible if you new people ignore them.

That up there ^ is still true, and the weekend is, of course, still slower.  What with Thansgiving, Black Friday, and everything else, it's a wonder anyone at all had time to visit the forums today.

There still are very few of us who have finished the game on hand to answer anything, and we are vastly outnumbered by new arrivals who want to ignore all of the stickies. The fact is, without those, plus the archives, you can forget about this place. Ask anything without including any information, get ignored.

I've been told that both of the DA games have been on sale through the holiday period, which explains the new arrival upsurge here. There are more of the new folks, by far, than the few on hand to answer, so rely on the stickies and the archives for most of your help, but if you really think you have something totally new, never seen before, then follow Raen Imrahl's "Read First" procedures.

That summary above is still the status here in DA: O Tech.

After mid-April 2011, this forum went into hibernation, and with the exceptions of just a couple of short-lived upsurges in activity, has remained essentially dead ever since. Everything you need to know, however, is already saved for you in the stickies at the top, or if those aren't enough, in the archives, but if you want personalized answers, there simply is no one hanging around here most of the time.

[Sarcasm engaged] If you just want to waste forum space, keep ignoring the stickies. Especially ignore the one that says "Read First".[/Sarcasm ends]

To reach the very few long-time readers who occasionally stop in here, if you hope for a personal answer of some sort, despite the fully adequate array of FAQs in the stickies, fill in a proper problem report, following Raen Imrahl's "Read First" Guide up on top,

I came here from this post: http://social.biowar...58/index/424975

Although I "scanned" and "searched" this thread for "dialog", I found nothing.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Has anyone found a solution for the "Dialog options not showing" problem?

Thanks.
