I have a question: Is the one named Jack Harper TIM? It's really not easy to make out faces when they're drawn like that.
Read the last page..there's your answer..
Looks ok, but it is still only a comic. Book would be better.

Yep, looks like it. I think the humans just happened to find a translator and perhaps its one of those made-for-idiots contraptions which is intuitive to use. Regardless, thank you very much for the preview Chris! I can't wait to read this in full!

I thought that aswell, but at the end it insinuates that the Turian was wearing some kind of communicator.
And Jack Harper, what an original name.

Most likely the turians compiled a quick and dirty translator update so they could deal with human captives or captured territories effectively, as well as make surrender demands (something we know they did to Ashley's grandfather). Something like that has to have happened anyway, given the way events played out. It would have been required for the Council to hammer out the truce, explain exactly what the hell that turian attack was all about, and offer humanity associate membership. Since the First Contact War was so short to begin with (only 3 months), it just moves the timetable for that up a few weeks.

TIM shouldn't have an "original" name. He was just, to all appearances and even in his own mind, a fairly average, if privileged, human before the Mars ruins and Charon relay were discovered, so he should have a fairly average name. Having an "everyman" type of name is also a nice fit because it goes with his conceit that Cerberus (by which he of course means himself) "is humanity". Besides, it's not "John Smith".

I agree, and besides... he kinda DOES look like a Jack...
