If someone would take the freeform freedom of bethesda games (fallout 3, Oblivion) and the storytelling of Bioware games and merge them into one shining RPG I'd love it.
I desperately seek a game with:
-Immersive first person view (third is ok, its fine in DA / ME but I don't feel like I'm really there, more an observer watching someone else be there)
-serious replayability. I LOVED DA and ME but I can't bring myself to do more than one replay of them. While the origins in DA are different, and different convo choices can alter some of the plot, its still basically the same game, the same story, the same locations.
-co-op: I think that was the strongest point to Borderlands was that it was co-op enabled. Play it single player or bring a few good friends, either is just fine. It doesn't have to be an MMO with 10,000 screaming people. A private world for me and my friends just rocks.
-a mixture of storytelling and randomness: Make a new race/class combo character and select a starting area. From there, the choices you make generate the content. You start in the city and are soon presented with some choices. You may help person A with task 1 or person B with task 2. If you choose A, then person B leaves. Task 1 leads to a series of plotline quests with carefully told stories. By its end, you've made a few more choices which also open / close other plotlines. In addition, by choosing class X and Race Y your game generates different quest givers and locations. Thus you could start a new game with a new character and encounter different people and stories. It would give us a reason to replay.
Right now, although I truly loved ME 1/2 and DAO I just can't bring myself to do a complete playthrough again. Its too repetitive and all the surpises have been exhausted. At this point it would merely be academic to see how different it could really be but in the end you'll always go to Lothering, the Mage Tower and so forth. Making this more freeform type of game would not only be a challenge ripe for the likes of Bioware but also give ongoing life to the game for the players.
I;'ve seen how Bethesda handles this idea and its ok but I can't fathom how deeply immersive it would be if Bioware did it.
my dream game
