Anyone knows if BioWare is even open to or caring about forum suggestions by fans?
Well, either way I'd like to suggest something for the mining. They aren't going to drop it, so I guess the resources mined will have a purpose in gameplay.
The idea I have is to make mining a managerial task, like a mining sim mini game. It could work like this: the player has a limited ammount of resources and the player assign these resources to specific tasks. You tell your probes to go to planet X for prospecting, costing 100 fuel, later they return with eezo or some other resource.
But all you'd do would be issuing orders. The mining itself happens automatically and during missions. The player doesn't need to go to a planet, scan it and send probes. The player just manages these activities.
Between missions the player checks results and assign new tasks. Info collected from NPCs, planetary exploration, Codex, News stations, etc, would help the player find out which planets have the most resources.
There could also be risks like areas of high pirate activity, dangerous planetary conditions or Geth activity that could result in the player losing probes. It would be all about investing your money on risk/reward situations and harvesting results whenever you are back at the Normandy.
This same idea could be implemented for a system of galactic stock exchange. Player would buy/sell stocks, make money. Information on which stocks are good or bad would come from NPCs or news, maybe even do some renegade missions to obtain illegal information.
The player investment on a company could result in development of new unique upgrades. Heavily investing on the Sirta foundations could result in development of more efficient medi-gel or upgrades to allow you carry more medi-gel.
Is there an official thread for suggestions?

Although I don't think there's anything wrong with having a dedicated thread if you want to go into a particular issue in detail...

I think at this point it is too late for suggestions. The game will be out around November or December of next year meaning that the core gameplay mechanics and whatnot are already locked in and being worked on.
