I'm trying to make a decision as to whether I can get the PC version of Dragon Age as I would prefer it over the XBox version. If my PC can run the character creator just fine, is it safe to assume it will also run Dragon Age just fine?:?

Ultimately, you'll need to review the minimum specs of the game to decide that. Or at least post your system so others might be able to answer for you. Some people can run the creator just fine, but are far below the minimum specs to even play the game at low settings.

"RECOMMENDED SPECS

* CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz Processor or equivalent

* RAM: 4 GB (Vista) or 2 GB (XP)

* VIDEO: ATI 3850 512 MB or greater

NVIDIA 8800GTS 512 MB or greater

AMD Phenom II X3 Triple-Core 2.8 GHz or greater

DVD ROM (Physical copy)

20 GB HD space"

The CharGen doesnt really need a whole lot to run at full settings, so its really not a good way to judge your computer.

Here are my specs, they meet the minimum. I'm just not sure because there have been other games I've played on past PCs that have exceeded minimum requirements, but still ran like molasses. I'm looking at you, Doom 3 :P

Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.00 GHz

4 GB RAM (2.97 useable) 32 bit OS :(

Nvidia GeForce 9200M GS 256 MB RAM

I dont think the 9200m is listed under minimum specs, and I don't think you will enjoy its performance in-game. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

well XP minimum is 6600GT and Vista's is 7600GT. I don't know where 9200 falls but i heard its not really a decent card. Again, hopefully I'm wrong lol.

I suspect you could run it but you'd need to set nearly everything to low to get a decent frame rate, it'd be a much better experience on the 360.

Here is a bunch of 3d mark tests with your video card, see the number of games that outright don't work (at the bottom).

I have a very similar setup, 2.66 core2duo, 4GB ram, only my GPU is a 9600m GT, and I'm expecting to have to make some visual sacrifices.

Here's the same bunch of tests run on my card:

do you really think you need a quad core to get decent frames on high quality?? I have all the recommended except my amd is dual core 2.61.

You wouldn't need a quad core no. Dragon age isnt really that power hungry a game, compared to alot these days. Alot of laptops would be able to run it well on low - medium quality.

As for dust hawk, you said you have a 32 bit OS? That's a good thing :P There are alot of compatibilty issues right now with the 64 bits. I am going to assume you have vista however. The minimum for vista is higher than the min for xp. All said, you should probably replace your graphics card. You could pick up a fairly good one for reasonably cheap. I don't know where you are from, so I am not going to list a price. However graphics cards are fairly easy to replace. If you do buy a new card, message me and I will instruct you on how to replace it if you need any help. Good luck!

The game will run, but the frame rates will be painfully low. The developers have tried playing with a video card similar to yours and here's what they said:

I'm not sure what mobile notebook cards we'll officially support
(typically what you see in most games is a disclaimer "mobile versions
of these video cards may work but are not officially supported"), but
for whatever it's worth, the game run respectably on my exact same
laptop as yours, except I had the NVIDIA 9300M. The GPU was by far the
biggest bottleneck, I run most of the game using the medium detail
setting, but was willing to play between 10-15 frames a second. Playing
at the low detail setting with that video card made it noticeably
better, but still there were frequent cases when it dropped under 15.
...
Edit: Forgot to say I was running at 800x600 and without
post-processing effects, that video card's fill rate is not nearly as
good as the desktop versions.

Unfortunately, I think you missed where he said he had a nVidia GeForce 9200M ... meaning a mobile chip in a notebook, therefore not replaceable without replacing the notebook itself.

it should be able to i would think it seems like it might go a little glitchy in the battle scenes or if there is alout of activity and spells going around at the same time
