Here is one thing that should be modified.

The first mission would end if an different way if the player did two missions before answering the call. That need to be clear in the first message he gets. Either introduce a timer/coutdown to the ship crashlanding or remove the other possible outcome.

I find it very confusing when you punish a player when he had no way of knowing he actually had to rush to do the mission. ME2 had the same problem with the crew kidnap moment. If you did one mission other than Legion recruit/loyalty, your entire crew would be transformed into space slushie for no reason at all.

Will edit the first post. B)

Just found this thread and I really dig this idea. If done right, like Monterriggioni in AC2 or Rome in BroHood, this could be a pretty rad addition to ME3.

this idea can help change or modify mining.  mining was time consuming in me2 (or to cut down on resource gathering) probes will be a cheap fast way to tap in resources but i can see that some people would rather have credits and  steady resources

this idea  will have synergy if shepard comanded a fleet or something

i imagine a fleet would need resources considering that itsgoing to be a huge major war like scenario
the game takes in the future and probes can gather resources a (colony module could technically be mass produced and land on the planet) then people or allies would be there. there would be more colonists if your paragon. less colonists but more corperations if your renegade.

it wouldent be a strech considering theres  war going on and the council will be too tied up with its own bs to enforce planet colinization laws

people would want to stay away from wars and that can actually be an incentive to run away from a crowded world thats being destroyed or to seek new oppertunities

They need to make a Skies of Arcadia syle base system, you get stranded on an island that you later return to in the game and set up your base of operations, with a port for your ship etc, then you can travel the world finding more merchants and crew to add to your ship and base.

The shops start to stock rare items etc and you can customise the town with different architecture as well as pay for upgrades.

Anyway video will show you what i mean for people who havent played it (its a ridicuously awesome rpg btw, and is quite close to mass effect in that you get your own ship and crew members, and you can walk around it when ever you want):

had a similar idea but with a space station that you took over from pirates/slavers. i love the idea and would love to see something like it.

EDIT: here's my earlier idea if anyone wants to go off it

DLC idea: Building the Fleet

Spacestation 7734 has long been at the heart of  pirate activity in the terminus systems but after the battle of Elysium constant in fighting between the factions have made it nothing more then a minor annoyance. However, intelegence has gathered that a new group has risen to the top and is amassing a fleet for an assult on alliance colonies that will make the Skyllian Blitz look like a day in the park. Were gathering for a pre-emptive attack and thought you might want in.

 - Admiral Hacket

* adds several missions and a new hub world
* lets you take over and customize your own spacestation, Shepard's Haven! transform it anywhere from your own personal fueling station to a impenetrable battle station and heart of galaxtic trade that would put even the citadel to shame.
* invest your extra materials to help build your own fleet, upgrade the haven, or even trade them to other factions for credits!
* depending on your choices, past characters may make an appearance and might even join your station.

~and so on, something like that which shows shepard is actively getting ready for the reapers instead of being ignored by people. just a rough idea, got more and can expand on this one if people think its interesting enough

This would definitely add to the game and is pretty reasonable for me3 to be honest in the situation to come.  I approve!  Image IPB

NO! Mass Effect 3 needs to be a short and fast paced game, with a 10 hour main plot and maximum 5 hours of sidequests. Also, it must feel more heroic and have one weapon that can be used as a sniper rifle, assault rifle and as a shotgun.

It also shouldn't be released on the PC. CONSOLES ONLY!

going to expand on my building the fleet idea a bit.

Depending on your choices during the mission to take over the station you have either (paragon) a small fleet of ships that surrendered after the fight though a few others escaped or (renegade) have a bunch of scrap metal and ship parts you can salvage but no full ships cause you let none escape. either way your space station is heavily damaged but a tech on your crew, or edi if you dont have one with you, says it can be saved. if you went paragon earlier you have to spend your own credits and materials to make the first repairs but after that you already have some ships to scout for materials and/or protect the station. renegades have the spare parts to repair the station but will have to invest credits and materials to commission some ships.

when your station is getting worked on some characters that you helped in the past may show up and offer to help. such as ken from omega who offers to help patch it up or the urdnot scout who offers security. (for now its just cameos and to show that your choice to help payed off) if you didnt help them you can pay a little more credits to get the same thing.

after your station is up and running you start getting the attention of different factions who you can let operate off your station. each gives you a different set of missions and offers some kind of benifit for helping them. such as if you let the turians have a port and help them your station gets better guns and a patrol to help guard the station. if you let the asari have a port and help them your rusty omega like armor plates get upgraded to stronger, better looking armors and so on. there could be some renegade/paragon factions and missions you can choose from just so you can better customize your station. you can make it all human or a mixed society if you wish.

for getting more ships you can do several things. you can buy them straight out with a lot of credits, commission them by using a lot of materials, or sponsor a ship for one of the factions (will use less credits/materials but it wont be yours exclusively). if you own your own ships you can send them on missions like in LOTSB and every so often they will bring back credits or materials depending on what they do. for sponsored ships you cant tell them what to do but depending on what they are you will get a small return (ie. scout ship = materials, merchant ship = credits)

i like the recruiting thing on the first page so going around recruiting pilots and the like would be cool. That’s all I really thought of but if you add in some of the other stuff like on the first page it would be awesome.

This actually sounds.... amazing!!! Throw in 5 or 6 main missions for shepard to be doing and of course the finale with the reapers and you'd have a pretty great game, I think! :)

thank you, im glad people like the idea. shepard needs an army so might as well make it himself right?

i thought of this as dlc for 2 that can also be accessed in 3 so it can give shepard a head start in preparing for the reapers but im not sure if that would make it. still as long as the ideas out there hopefully someone from bioware might trip over it and also think its an interesting idea.

Maybe in 1 or 2 colonies and space station building would be good ideas, but in 3, with galatic armageddon right around the corner it probably is not the time to settle colonies and start station projects that could get ruined when a Reaper does a drive by on the area.

But that's usually only a side tour of a few hours. And even then, the stuff there has already been built. When things are coming to destroy everything on every planet, is it really the best time to stop and build more stuff to get destroyed?
