I just got all the achievements for ME1 except for Pinnacle station and Insanity achievement. I am in the process of going through an Insanity run soon. I will make a brand new character build from scratch starting at level 1 to run through Insanity with Soldier class. Do you think its wise to do this or should I do it first on hardcore and then on 2nd playthrough go through insanity to reach level 60. When I reach level 60, I plan on importing this build to ME2. The reason I might be doing my level 1 character on insanity is that I thought you would get more experience the harder the difficulty is or is that the experience bonus for the Power Gamer acheivements taking into effect?

First of all, if all you want is the achievement, do Pinnacle Station on anything but Insanity. As for running through ME1 on Insanity, I've never started from level 1, so I wish you the best of luck. However, I completed Insanity with a Vanguard with Singularity - the combination of crowd control and close combat simply can't be beat. Adrenaline Rush is merely icing on the cake.

Is Pinnacle Station on Insanity irritating to beat or nearly impossible to beat?

Soldiers can easily do it since they have immunity. They are one of the easiest classes to beat the game with. Still insanity is just a pain in the ass no matter what class you pick, it takes way to long to kill things.

I know especially the Geth Colossus. I had a hard time on hardcore. I can't imagine when I do it on Insanity. It would probably take an hour to kill a Geth Colossus.

What I did just now to save myself time. I rushed through my first file on Casual and used the level glitch to boost myself up to 55 (from 42 or so) and am now going to do a proper run. This way I am not playing through everything twice so rapidly. Never skipped dialogue though.
Regardless, Insanity is more monotonous than it is challenging. The Colossus are not as dominate as one would imagine. The enemies merely possess ridiculous health but at high levels. ME is a cakewalk of a game.

Insanity isnt that hard really, only at the start of the game when you are lvl 1 some fights are abit challening but after you have gotten some level ups it gets pretty easy and your biggest worries then are just snipers & random rockets / carnages that might hit you

but the question is it wise to start out with a brand new character on Insanity or import one from an easier playthrough with an already high level?

The thing is when I start insanity, should I devote points to the charm/intimidate sections? I want to be able to intimidate or charm somebody to get all the possible dialogue options.

If you devote any points to charm/intimidate, the max should be 4 and no more seeing as you get 4 while playing the game. However multiple playthrough is recommendedElite_Strike_Eagle wrote...

Yes I plan on playing twice so that I can get to 60 and import to ME2. So if I devote just 4 points in the beginning I should be able to survive on insanity and get all dialogue options especially on Eden Prime? (Farm Workers)

Well, here's the thing. If all you want to do is get past Insanity, that's not a problem: you concentrate on Lift, Throw, and Singularity.
If you want all of the speech options (re: Toombs,Saren, and Wrex, among others), you need a full 12 points into charm or intimidate. This requires either a hefty point investment or multiple playthroughs. Each playthrough of ME1 will net you at least four points in charm or intimidate, assuming you play it as a straight paragon or renegade: when I created a powergaming Vanguard, I needed three playthroughs without abusing any bugs to get charm and intimidate capped without investing a single point into the RP skills.
