The nation of Rivain is located in the northern parts of Thedas. Its capital city is Dairsmuid, which is on in the southern end of the Rivain peninsula.

Unlike the majority of peoples in Thedas, the Rivaini are not Andrastians and don't believe in the Maker. Rather, they are pantheists who believe in the Natural Order. Many, especially in Kont-aar, have also converted to the Qun, as their religion and the Qun are not very contradictory.

And despite having a Spanish accents and hints of Spanish culture in Antiva, they have Italian names for locations, speak Spanish (if going by Zevran's "si amora") and their country's history best represents Italian city-states.



I'm sure Rivain has an approximation, but trying to rule out certain influences because they don't fit in with one particular country is silly.

Are *you* serious? Whatever you base it on, what you said is still hilarious.

On a side note, dark skin doesn't necessarily mean African-like dark.

Seconded. You're becoming more incoherent by the post. You seem to think that Isabela's meant to be black (ie. African), or Indian, despite having absolutely no reason to think this is the case. The only things we know about Rivain are that it's to the north, its inhabitants are dark-skinned, and some of them worship the Qun. The rest is speculation.

You only have to look at Isabela's screenshots to see that she clearly has dark skin. Her features are somewhat mediterranian IMO, but certainly not african and not particularly indian, so one can only deduce that Rivain is not a direct counterpart to Africa or India.
