She is. She is suppose to have dark skin. Which she does not. Yes, because she looks lame that way. It just doesn't suit her. It looks unnatural on her.

I'm pale as a ghost and I like it fine, but I don't want Isabela looking that way. She's a smoky mocha piratess, not a white one. I love the coloring they chose for her and I don't want it to change.

You misunderstand me. I think she looks like Salma Hayek in terms of facial structure (at least, she did in the trailer), not skin colour. She's FAR more dark-skinned than Salma.



What is this if not dark skin? "Dark" does not mean black.

Why? Other than to be pretend-PC? Perhaps Africa has no equivalent as an ethnicity in Thedas. There's nothing wrong with that.

It'd be like saying Jade Empire had to include at least one white district (as opposed to that one white guy). Thedas is based off of medieval Europe. Isabela's skin is brown, she is from Rivain, Rivain does not need to be based off of Africa. These things are not contradicting each other. I've seen three different Orlesians with Asian appearances, out of the total four in the game (who is Ferelden in blood anyway).

...olive skin comprises a spectrum that extends to dark.

Olive skinned? That word is generic, and can refer to a broad range of light to dark skintones. Olive skin can be quite dark.['d]

She's swarthy. Let's leave it at that.

You would be right if Gaider did not mention that there were black people (or the Thedas Equivalent) in Thedas.

And I don't see what political correctness has to do with anything, but it seems like something that likes to be thrown around on the internet to discredit things for no reason.

He did, and he stated they were Rivani, so. . .there would be something wrong with that in this particular case.

Care to back that up with a quote from the writers themselves?

They never said that Rivain was based off Africa or India. Just that they were dark skinned people, which, if Isabela herself and a few other dark skinned people in Origins are aynthing to go by, makes them more like people from the Mediterranian.

Are you just ignore'n virtually every in game picture of Isabella? cause you've clearly had to have gone threw some image browsery to locate that wall paper and yet still managed to miss the actual in game images of her, perhaps in your rush to make a asinine assumption.

As for everyone else debating what nationality Isabella is, i'd like to take a moment to announce THIS IS A FANTASY GAME SET IN A FICTIONAL WORLD WITH ELVES, DWAVES AND PEOPLE WITH ANTLERS, if Bioware wants her to look like that, they can, BECAUSE IT ISN'T A REAL WORLD DEVOLPED FEATURE THAT WAS DEVELOPED GENETICLY OVER A VAST AMOUNT OF TIME & CLIMATE.

I've followed too many games to just ignore contradictions between things like that.  If I hadn't seen the dark-skinned Isabella screenshots, why would I make this thread asking about a light-skinned Isabella in that wallpaper?

Whatever skin color Isabela end up with, I'm sure she'll be hot. It's hard to mess up a female ship captain/pirate.



I also agree that she doesn't need to be white or simply look like a white skinned woman who simply has been out in the sun a while. I'm sure there will be plenty of white or "light skinned" people in DA2; it doesn't hurt to mix it up, and yes, I'm white.
