Oh yeah, in total agreement there: I find that excess gore is no substitute for real horror, and while they still make my skin crawl, it's for entirely different reasons... Yea, i don't know how that wasn't mentioned yet. Also the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre for sure ! How about Maniac ? Remember the classic shotgun scene with Savini ? BOOM !!! lol.

Sorry, but The Brood is one of the worst flics ever, IMO.
For pure suspence, Wait Until Dark is my top choice.
