As the mass effect trilogy gradually comes to a close, it's a good time to remember the moments that shook you and were embedded in your mind from the series. Whether it's gripping story moments, visual feasts, or just watching a pyro vorcha explode, what moment made you glad to have put your time into ME?

My personal moment that first made me realize this was a "different" type of game was back in ME1 on Virmire. Realizing I had to choose who would be sacrificed between 2 soldiers I had known personally was that moment. I spent at least a good minute staring at the screen, coming to the realization the decisions made in ME were meant to remove the line between a "good" choice and a "bad" one, completely ambiguous. I hope the price paid on that day was worth it...

Also, Digital Seth Green running around like a ninny saying "What the chit?" was pretty memorable.

Three words.
Wrex. Virmire. Kill.

Another personal favorite was talking to Vigil. The soundtrack playing at the time and the whole we must stop Saren in time made it feel ten times more epic than whatever Mass Effect 2 did imo.

The first playthrough for both games. Its just beautiful. If I could erase the memories of Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 so I could play it fresh one more time I would.

Also Tali's romance dialogue in general.

I picked up Mass effect after playing DA:O. I loved DA:O so I gave Bioware's other IP a chance (that and it was on sale for $5 on steam). When I started I was like"oh man , I just wasted my money on another shooter" Then I got to the beacon on Eden Prime and thought there might actually be a story here. I played almost strait through the next three days getting maybe 6 hours sleep total. After the Battle of the Citadel when Shepard climes out I sat back and said "Damn that was a great game." So for Mass Effect it was at the end when I realised I would probably never play a game that intense ever again.

For Mass Effect 2. I loved the opening on the Normandy it set the whole stage for the rest of the game. And started a spark that maybe, just maybe I had found that sense of amazement again, and it did not disapoint. (except for scaning/probing, seriously, screw that)

Well there was my evil bastage run through where i tried to get everyone killed, yea that made me want to shoot myself by the end just watching everyone who ive grown fond of getting ganked left and right.

The reconciliation scenes with liara pull a little still

The reveal of SR-2

Virmire still rips me up

and im with Uhh.. Jonah Samara talking about her children, about how she felt in the hospital and all that really hits you.

It would definitely have to be when Shepard climbs out the rubble at the end of ME1 after Sovereigns attack. Your squadmate's initial sadness with the "Form the Wreckage" track playing in the background was perfect. Then when Shep runs to the top of the debris, it was godamn epic.

could not have put it better. You get that moment of.... really?! ...... REALLY?! than the music queues up as Shepard runs up.

I loved that end scene to but I like that he didn't just run up... he was pretty beat up, holding his side it was more like a triumphant..limping-run-oh-****-my-side-hurts thing going on.

For ME1: Virmire. Having to choose which squadmate. Tore me up inside and made me pissed at Saren.

For ME2: The Flotilla. When Tali realizes the fate of her Father. Gut wrenching as a friend or LI I just wanted to make her feel better.

@Roth, be glad you found ME1 when ME2 was already out, that wait was excruciating...

Yeah, had to hold my breath on that one :-( I wasn't aware at that point it was meant to be a trilogy, so if he did/didn't survive was a bit up in the air...

In ME1 all the final part of the game... from Virmire to the final battle. Great dialogues and epic fights and music.

In ME2... well, almost everything, but especially Garrus's recruitment, Wrex on Tuchanka and everything related to Tali. When I lost her during the first time I did SM I almost screamed "F**k no! It won't happen again!". And it didn't happen again...

My Shepard in ME2 didn't successfully Romance anyone, right before the final assault there was a cut-scene where he was alone in his quarters (I imagine this is when your "love interest" visits if you are succesful with someone) I found that kind of moving...

I also lost my Tali in the final battle (my only lost squad-mate) and seeing her Coffin in the Normandy was a little touching.

Paragon hug during Tali's loyalty mission was the only time Mass Effect ever made me squee.
