Could Kaidan, Thane, and Garrus could have been great Gay LIs?

I actually thought Kaidan was gay the first time I saw him. Samething with Thane. Not in offense to homosexuals, but it would have been interesting to have those two (even Garrus) as possible male on male relationships. By the way I'm a guy and I'm not gay myself but I thought it would have been interesting.

Um, yeah, apparently there were all (save Garrus) romance-able by ManShep at some point in the development process, but were subsequently made FemShep-exclusive.

My opinion? I like things the way they are; I wouldn't want any one of those three to be homosexual. This would probably work best with a brand new character that is set as a homosexual from the get-go. The current characters have more or less been fully established by this point.

I actually think Garrus might have worked with a male Shepard--he strikes me as more "Shepard-sexual" than anything else XD He even says that he doesn't have a thing for humans, just for Shepard--that sentiment could apply just as well to male or female Shepard.

@Fiery: David Gaider talked in the DA2 forums about the reason why the DA team does bisexual rather than exclusively homosexual LIs--cost. Romances are time and money expensive, and they really have to pick their priorities. It's more efficient for them to work with bisexual characters and heterosexual ones than with exclusively homosexual and heterosexual ones.

I know, I know. But this is more of a "what if" thing.

Yeah I know what you mean.

Wrex is totally too hot for Shepard. What was I thinking?

I hate that they scrapped the Kaidan and Thane gay romance options. I also hate that they originally scrapped the Ash/Femshep stuff.

You can say "it's just not their characters" all you want but if you're playing a game where Kaidan is gay, then Kaidan is gay and never was straight regardless of how someone else is playing him in their game.

Precisely my thought processes. I thought Garrus worked quite a bit better for something m/m than Thane.

I like the idea of the Garrus gaymance.  From what I heard, he's not really physically attracted to FemShep in anyway (being she's human and he's naturally attracted to turian females) but goes for her based solely on personality.  Not sure why the same couldn't happen with ManShep.

Yeah, I think any of them could have been romanceable by DudeShep. Being a romance option doesn't mean they'll throw gay pride parades on the Normandy...lol! They'll still be the same character but will have extra dialogue if you romance them. Those that don't want to see it, don't have to. ; )

I think the Mass Effect series is in desperate need of M/M romance options. DudeShep paired with either Kaidan or Thane would have been quite interesting, I believe. It would be nice to have those two available for S/S romances in ME3, but I doubt that will be the case, unfortunately.

I will agree with Kaidan, maybe Garrus but not Thane.

Garrus was given a firm "hell no" in the hidden dialogue, but apparently Kaidan and Thane were both, at some point in development, options for gay romance before being cut.

Regardless, I would think it would be more appreciated to have a romance specifically crafted as gay (or bi if they're so concerned with costs) and not just tacked on in a "SURPRISE, WE CUT CORNERS AND...MAGIC!!!!" move from BW just to say they had it.

Granted, BW might actually do a decent job with it, so...who knows.  We'll find out in ME3 I guess.

OK seriously guys, what hints on thinking that any of the Mass Effect characters are gay? Including females? Asari doesn't count.

There are plenty of files left in the game of audio between Shep and certain characters for gay romances.  Do a youtube search.  As far as hints to whether someone is gay or not, you usually just can't tell right off the bat.  Not every gay person is flamboyant.  I was talking with some friends of mine and most people don't even know how real gay people are.  They're just normal and not the stereotypes you see on tv and movies.
