During a routine TS session, an error popped up - then the properties pane became a big red "X". If I pointed the mouse into the pane the values of the particular parameter would show up but not the name/title of the parameter in the pane.

Has anyone ever see this before?

I am just curious because having just switched to win 7, I have had a real (knock wood) easy time of the switch over. A restart of the TS fixed the error and it hasn't popped up again (yet).

I've had that happen before, toolset restart always fixes it. It's a dotnet error iirc.

It seems to happen when I'm running too many programs and the computer cannot allot enough memory for the task at hand(namely, opening the new tab). As Kamal said, save your current work and then restart. It's frustrating but not life threatening.

Out of memory. Close down and restart.

That - albeit likely - should not be happening - I have a Gig of video and 2 Gig of Ram.

BUT - I was running itunes in the background...

Anyway - thanks all for the replies. I did get back into the TS for another run (also with itunes running) and had no problem. Hopefully it will not be a recurring issue.

You know the toolset leaks like a sieve right? :D

I had the inclination to suspect, but I have never heard someone specifically say it leaks - until now. Yep, lots of TS behaviours suggest memory leaks - there are likely so many examples that I just didn't add it all up. My old system was pretty, well - old - and odd behaviour/performance could not be attributed to the TS without considering my system as the cause first. Such is life...

You must have missed the post release notes memo. We had verifiable and corroborated reports of memory leakage in the toolset. Bad ones. After all the patching, it's not as bad, but it wasn't one of the things they specifically targeted for improvement on the patch notes.

Yah, the longer you muck about in the toolset (and especially with larger modules) the sooner the toolset leakage crops up with crashes, errors or wonky behaviors. Usually restarting the toolset cures it, but there are times (usually if its been a long time since your last reboot sequence) a reboot does better.

glad you got it sorted.

It happens to me when I stop thinking happy thoughts.

In all seriousness, it happens to me periodically.  I figure it's just the toolset's way of reminding me who is really running the show.
