I am on my 2nd playthrough of ME2 (never played ME1) and I was wondering about weapons and upgrades.  Can I assume correctly that an item that is found at a store will not be found in the game during a quest or can an upgrade be found 2 places?  I play as a soldier in both of the games I've played but one is as a girl renegade and the other as a boy paragon.

Also, I found a SMG on a Geth ship but it is classified as an assault rifle so can I assume that it gets the assaut rifle upgrades not the SMG upgrades?  I am trying to focus a little more on equpment now since my next Sheppard will make an attempt at the hardest setting and having less randomness in getting the most important upgrades first will be more important.  Another thing I noticed about this game is that there is a big difference between Veteren and Normal and it is not just in enemy hit points but in number of bad guys as well.  Again, this is well done versus many other games of this type.

I just finished the DLC with Kasumi and got to say she is really remarkable.  I am amazed at how well the AI plays followers most of the time.  Occassionally they get a little dumb but for the most part both the enemy and your followers actually have some tactics!  This Bioware engine is impressive especially after playing Fallout 3 and Fallout NV for last couple years.  The only bug I've found so far is sometimes my character gets stuck when there is unlevel terrain and the character actually "climbs" up.  I suppose this is a bug for everyone and requires a reload unless one of you know a work around.

I give this game 9.8 out of 10.0! Image IPB

It doesn't matter in what order you find or buy upgrades; there are 6 upgrades available (if you have all the dlc). You can check this Upgrade Guide for info where to find/buy specific upgrades.

I also recommend giving the other classes a try. They all have unique skills and they'll guaratee an entirely new gaming experience.

Dunno where you've found that weapon. But you'll find the Tempest (SMG) on Tali's recruitment mission and the Geth Pulse Rifle (AR) as well (only when you play on Hardcore/Insanity though).

The only upgrades that truly matter are the bonus ones. After you've researched/bought 2 and 3 upgrades, bonus research upgrades become available on the Normandy. For example: the second shotgun upgrade unlocks the shotgun piercing bonus upgrade. This will increase damage against shields and barriers by 50% (makes a big difference). The third upgrade unlocks the extra ammo upgrade, doubling the shotgun's ammo capacity (very nice). The best thing you can do is to get the first 3 upgrades (all catagories) for the bonus upgrades. everything else is just the icing on the cake.

Ah, the sky-walking bug, common with the Unreal Engine used in Mass Effect. Annoying but fortunately it doesn't occur much. ME2 isn't bug free. but the bugs aren't a big deal. This ain't Fallout ;)

Just enjoy this great game and check the sticky for some great guides that can and will help you play in new and exciting ways :)

Yes, all items in stores will remain in stores until you buy them, and cannot be found on missions. Similarly you must collect mission upgrades while playing, as you can't return to completed locations.

On missions you can collect weapons or upgrades. All armour parts are bought in stores (as well as additional upgrades).

I'm not sure what smg on a geth ship you're talking about, but I assume it is the revenant on the collector ship?

It doesn't matter what order you collect the upgrades - they will all stack. You need 2 upgrades of a certain type to unlock a special research project, and 3 upgrades for the second special research (ie assault rifle penetration and assault rifle accuracy).

Yes, the levitation glitch can happen occasionally - just have to reload a save (or try to complete the mission from where you are stuck - ie wrecked freighter).

Oh, and in before "play ME1 as well!" ;)

Edit - too slow. :pinched:
