I am playing through the original campaign, and am find the controls hard to use. My characters seem to enjoy crossing detected traps to get at the ghoul far too much. I have Tony K's companion AI mod, is there any way to stop them from doing this? Or a way to make the thief do sneak attacks by herself without having to do it manually.

I am level 8 currently, and am not sure what spells to memorize on the Elf Druid companion. What should I put on it? I have the platinum version with both expansions.

Use the Voice commands.  In particular, the VWX.

Click here for details (note that I've received a hefty promotion since then).  Or here for even more.

...

As for getting the rogue to backstab automatically - probably not.  While in Stealth Mode, they won't attack.  EXCEPT if your rogue somehow acquires the Hide In Plain Sight feat (you'll have to use a mod if you want Neeshka to get it), you can set their AI to "Automatically Use Stealth"  -  but even then, they'll only do that once combat has already started.

...

With Elanee at Level 8, I go for one Cure Wounds of each level, a Call Lightning or two, Flame Strike, Barkskin, Spider Skin, some Entangles and/or Sleeps;  those are the biggies, pick out whatever else you want.

If you want companions to not do retarded things you need to use puppet mode, there's no way around it. Companions not doing retarded things is not a prerequisite for beating the OC though.

For Elanee good early spells include Flame Weapon, Bark Skin, Stone Skin, Call Lightning and the attribute boosters like Bull's Strength.

The voice commands thing helped a bit, thanks for the info. Is there a shortcut without adding them to the quickbar for stealth and detect traps? Also how do you unpolymorph the druid back to normal mode?

Use the pause command and jump through all your characters giving out commands (i.e. Puppet Mode).

VDS for stealth.  VDE (I think) for searching (type VD then look at the sub-menu to verify).  Those will give the commands to everybody except the character who says it.

To unpolymorph, right click on her or her portrait while controlling her and a submenu will popup with Return To Original Form option.

Thanks again. Yet another question: is there a way of accessing the inventory of companions while in the tavern? I just got Sand and want to look for eq that I have on other companions, and going in and out with each one to look for old eq is rather annoying.

I'm afraid there's no easy way around that - without HEAVY modification.

If you trust yourself to return things to normal and keep the game somewhat challenging, you can use the console to set your Party Limit to 12 and add everybody at once. This makes rummaging through inventories a breeze. Levelling, too.
