Lol, that's neat!

Retroplayer- Mark, you’ve also worked alongside Bioware on Dragon Age: Origins in which you play a number of villains. What was it like playing characters that are pretty much the complete opposite of Commander Shepard?

Mark Meer (Commander Shepard)- Well, keep in mind there are probably some EXTREMELY ruthless versions of Shepard out there… I do enjoy playing villains, though -- especially monsters. I gotto be several Werewolves in Dragon Age: Origins and all of the talking Darkspawn in Dragon Age: Awakenings, which was fun. And in ME2, I’m any Vorcha you meet -- the day we recorded that, I spent the whole day screeching and gibbering in the booth. Also fun. Now that I think of it,before Shepard, I almost exclusively played villains or creatures, with the occasional non-hostile NPC thrown into the mix.

The greatest villain he voiced was probably Niftu Cal, the Biotic God.

This is very surprising. He does a good job with all these other characters and roles but with Shepard it's meh. It's a dam shame.

That would explain why his Renegade lines sound better than his Paragon lines (at least I think so) xD

I love his Shepard. He's understated and dry. Very straightforward, and he changes his tone where appropriate.

Funny, I think he does a very good job (much better than Hale imho). :)

I like them both. They both do great work, just in different ways. Hale has more emotion, Meer's more straight forward. Both fit just fine, depending on what you're going for.

I agree with Badpie. They're both good, just in different ways.

//edit: Appearantly, I also agree with Viceroy :ph34r: =]

I think that's the best thing ever said concerning the Meer/Hale debate.  That said, Meer does a fantastic job in DA and as the biotic God.  He's a great improv comedian too.

He plays the vorcha? And the biotic god? wow I so can't tell that I don't play spot the actor in my games the only time I've been able to recognize people is Kaiden's VA plays an army guy in one of my nephews starwars games which I find amusing. Then Chakwas is Dr Beverly from startreck, Benezia was troy I think on ST, Baily is Ty from BSG. Meer did a great job on the vorcha Mshep in 3 just has to add feeling and inflection into his act. If anything this just makes me sadder he can do so well with everyone but the main character in main story mode. Though I do have to say Meer was alittle more like I'd like him to be in SB I could actually tell he was worried during the door hack and upset when with Liara.

Dr Chakwas was played by Carolyn Seymour, not Gates McFadden (Beverly Crusher in TNG).

But yeah, Benezia was played by Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi in TNG), and Captain Bailey was played by Michael Hogan (Col. Tigh in nuBSG).

Other familiar voices include...

Michael Dorn (Worf in TNG) as Gatatog Uvenk, Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity in The Matrix) as Aria T'Loak, Yvonne Strahovski (Sarah in Chuck) as Miranda, Tricia Helfer (Caprica Six in nuBSG) as EDI, Adam Baldwin (Casey in Chuck, Jayne in Firefly) as Kal'Reegar, and Claudia Black (Aeryn in Farscape, Vala in SG-1) as Admiral Daro'Xen.

Another Lovely Helena, although Chakwas "Helena" had aliens running from the bar.
