Truedat. I played a pure paragon playthrough with him once...he sounded pretty bad.Systemlord Baal wrote...
That would explain why his Renegade lines sound better than his Paragon lines (at least I think so) xDI almost exclusively played villains or creatures
To be fair he greatly improved in ME2 and in the DLC he was brilliant. Especially the David scene in Overlord. He really pulled that off brilliantly.

This is very surprising. He does a good job with all these other characters and roles but with Shepard it's meh. It's a dam shame.
Funny, I think he does a very good job (much better than Hale imho).
I love them both. They're just different. Very different.
Agree. I don't get why there seems to be a lot of Meer bashing when it comes to Shepard's VA and they seem to come from the Hale fans.

I know, it's weird. He's clearly capable of awesomeness. I mean look at this video, just look at it:
He's hilarious in this, what gives? Why does he hold back when he's doing Shepard? Mark Meer, tear down your wall!!

Meer should do a separate Shepard VO just for that. You know this is a great idea, BW.

I love his Shepard. He's understated and dry. Very straightforward, and he changes his tone where appropriate.
Agreed. Unlike Femshep's voice which always sounds the same. The same droning tone in which words are spewed out lazily.

I have to agree. Not dissing Hale at all, but it does always sound like she's speaking her lines "lazily". It's like someone's forcing her to talk. It also sounds like she's always angry all the time, or in a bad mood constantly.
Ehh, different strokes for different folks.

He's definitely a good voice actor. Still, I much prefer Hale's version of Shep.
Agreed, and I think it's a shame that the VA directors are requesting that he voice Shepard in a certain way, as I believe to be the case.

Hardly.
He created the Reapers. He thought them up.

Dr Chakwas was played by Carolyn Seymour, not Gates McFadden (Beverly Crusher in TNG).
Carolyn Seymour did have a handful of guest roles in Star Trek, a couple of Romulans and a character in Captain Janeway's gothic holo-program.
Anyone taking bets on which Star Trek main cast member will appear in ME3?

Well, that's kind of the job of voice acting directors.

I used to think he was just rubbish as Shepard, but then I heard the other stuff he does, and he's clearly a very talented VA - so yeah maybe it is the director's fault...

I love Hale and Meers Shepard's equally and they both do an outstanding job for the Commander. I laughed when I found out he did the Vorcha and replayed all the Omega's with a male shep so he would talk to himself
After all this time!
Vorcha: We no kill today!
Meer Shep: I should go.
Edit: found the the youtube link to the "I should go" greatest hits montage.
and it had to be fun recording this in studio,
I would find it hard to stop laughing, watching the process.
here's a tidbit with the actors themselves

Meer has repeatedly stated that BioWare wanted a more straightforward soldier with Shepard; he's a military man and it shows. I think in many cases he deliberately comes off as emotionally flat in many cases, like when talking to a random NPC. He's a lot better in the conversations with the squad members, for example, at least the more "emotional" ones (or the interrupts).
Can't stand Hale as Shepard, though. I've tried playing as a FemShep and I'm constantly irritated by how growling she sounds... I know they're different characters, but I love her work on Bastila in KotOR. It was so layered and powerful. Her Shepard sounds like a punk.

I so can't tell that I don't play spot the actor in my games the only time I've been able to recognize people is Kaiden's VA plays an army guy in one of my nephews starwars games which I find amusing.
RC-1262 Scorch isn't just some random army-dude. By far one the best things to ever come out of the Star Wars Prequel horror. Fantastic character and everyone who has played Republic Commando can tell you just how great and hilarious Raphael Sbarge can be. Apparently it's Kaidan the character that's boring, not the VA.
PS. I support more Vorcha for ME3!

My vote is for Wil Wheaton as a young, eager, highly intelligent but obnoxious Reaper. You get to kill him. Since Wil is a cool guy, he'd probably do it too.
